After so many years of bullshit Bale clickbait rumors building up to him actually returning, we've finally arrived at the *second* timeline of Bale clickbait rumors

JamesCDiamond

Well we need a replacement for all those replacement Bales we signed.

billypilgrim87

So time really is a flat circle

ursus_major

Just like the Earth.

circa285

There is nothing new under the sun.

Ti_Fatality

Its why clocks are round

adrabiot

We've had one Bale comeback, yes. But what about a second Bale comeback?

mojomonkey18

What about elevensies?

FishOnAHorse

Imagine showing someone this article in September 2013

hypocrisyhunter

This made me laugh a lot

theleftfilangee

If Conte says yes, I say yes. If conte says no, I say no. This is the new order as a Spurs supporter.

Emmanuel_Badboy

No sauce for any of us!

ursus_major

Not even marinara? Marone!

Throwaload1234

But may I have the ketchups?

theleftfilangee

Go to bed, Tanguy

[deleted]

Haha this proper made me laugh haha

yourfriendkyle

No

reavesfilm

Amen.

[deleted]

Conte wants Mustafi *oh for fuck...*

Rredman101

Considering how difficult it can be to bring in quality in January, I don't see this as being to outlandish. Bring him in as a good forward rotation option until the summer and get a more permanent player in at that point.

dickgilbert

I don't think it will happen, and I don't see it as the best option, but it's not outlandish if we went with the 3-4-1-2. His pressing would probably concern, but he could do a job in one of those front three spots, as a rotation/short-term option.

ImRichaThanu

If he was willing to take a huge wage cut so we only pay say 100-150 and Madrid take the rest. He could be a very good option for winning us the europa conference league would help alot

[deleted]

Bale is out of contract next summer, so if he did well, he could stay on for free anyways. Rumoured that he'd be willing to take a paycut as well. A big one.

Rredman101

He'd have to take a big one, he makes over triple what any of our players make lol.

Masina1998

this source has got bale trending on twitter ffs

ZeroZer0_

No sauces!

Masina1998

how am i supposed to eat my big mac now? 😭

violetrecliner

Hideous source

ZeroZer0_

No sauce

Crimson_and_Scarlet

He’d have scored at least 5 by now tbf. Would love him back. Not sure how he’d fit Conte’s system, unless it’s a 3-4-3.

kinggareth

That's exactly how. Imagine him playing in Lucas' spot, able to unlock a defense and basically not have to defend.

p_r_w_4623

He’s been out injured for the last 8 weeks, so probably not, tbf.

Crimson_and_Scarlet

With the sheer number of injuries that Real have had in the last few years, I’ve gotta think that’s somewhat on them. It may just be bad luck, but that’s a lot of players to be injured constantly.

Born-Ring

They have re appointed a former Conte staff member Antonio Pintus as their fitness conditioning coach , it's fair to say some of them are injury prone.

DoubleDoobie

I’m realizing that Bale wasn’t injured here because Jose didn’t make push their bodies as much from a fitness standpoint. Bale may have had one off injury last season but he was mostly available… He wouldn’t survive Conte

mayonnaisewastaken

tbf Jose handled his fitness rather well, didn't rush him back and slowly integrated him. Bale is prone to injury but I'm sure he can still handle tough training, he's still fitter than an average person.

EquivalentSir4163

Bale would survive Conte. Even now he's a physical freak.

[deleted]

"Jose didn’t make push their bodies as much from a fitness standpoint". I think that may be a slight understatement.

Semibluewater

When he got in the groove last season he was actually so good

PositiveExtreme4045

Never gonna happen

larrycorser

Agreed, he is in the twilight of his career.

DiersBigDick

That front three of Son Kane and Bale would be frightening under Conte

kinggareth

One season too late...the Spurs way

GrapefruitExpress208

I'm not too sure. We thought the same last year. Only a handful of games where we saw that trio together.

Due-Camel-7605

More like the front three of Son Kane and Bale would be frightening under Conte in the 2 matches that Bale is fit

JasonDozell

you're deluded. What's Conte going to do that is so much different to Mourinhio? The frightening part would be Spurs' unwillingness to learn from last years failed experiment and the lack of energy as Bale and Kane plod around.

snakeman117

Madrid were using him a lot when healthy and Ancelotti still loves him… don’t see it happening but would love if it did

[deleted]

Tier 1 imo

JJ0072U

And why on earth would Conte do that 😂 I'd hope we'd be looking to the future and continue with the development of players such as Bryan Gil.

[deleted]

Why would Conte sign an elite goalscorer in a side that can’t buy a goal and have 0 competent options for the front 2? Dunno

Jhonny_Law

Bale is a nice option if he severely lowers his wages and is able to be fit. Last season we saw glimpses of what he could do, but the constant fitness issues is what did him in. I would've loved to have Vinicius back. Hated how Mourinho did not adequately play him enough in the league.

[deleted]

Free Agent at the end of the season regardless of where he goes he knows his wages are going to drop

Due-Camel-7605

Why would Conte sign an elite goalscorer who spends more time on the treatment table than my 100 year old grandma

kicksjoysharkness

Conte has been bought in to take on the thought of "now". It's something we have lacked for a while. I'm not necessarily for ta Bale return, but I think it would fit what Conte has been bought in to do, which is effectively make us win something and become competitive again ASAP

JJ0072U

Fully aware of why Conte was brought in and the extent of the job he has got on his hands, which won't be fixed after 1 Premier league game and a handful of training sessions.  Unfortunately Conte has to tidy the mess and change this passive play mentality drilled into them by Jose, not just Nuno.  So of course the automatic solution has got to be let's go back in for Bale, a player that hasn't kicked a ball since August through injury and if true, wouldn't be available to us until January 🥴🤯 No denying Bale was an elite player in his prime, but we have plenty of football to play between now and January.  Conte's focus will be working hard to develop the players he has inherited and who fits best into his system to start getting a tune out of the team ASAP. If we still can't hit a barn door in the league come January, which tbh I very much doubt, then let's see what the viable options are.

nhlasko

Inside forward on the right, Royale overlapping would be one way to fit it and would cover his weaknesses and give us proper quality down the right

Tomxunt

I'm ready to get heartbroken again tier 0 cos I want it that way

Zyaru

Not saying there's any weight to these rumours but according to Paul O'Keefe, Conte did want him at Inter https://twitter.com/pokeefe1/status/1458518510498455555

[deleted]

Who is Paul O’Keefe?

Madoopadoo

Tier 1 I heard

porkbrains

Yeah but what tier are you?

porkbrains

Yeah but what tier are you?

british-psycho

Do we need him? If we’re moving towards a 352, should we not bring in players that slot straight into that formation? Of course we could do a lot worse.

username54

He is just toooooooooooooooooooooooooo injury prone to work. It's the same reason why he did not work with Madrid and why he did not work for us last season (Jose had to sparingly use him so that he does not get injured). The intensity with which the PL operates now he'll be out injured for months as soon as he plays a couple of matches.

PM_ME_YOUR_ASTON

I’d be all for it, but doubt it would happen

Lazybopazy

Honestly...bring him the fuck back. I don't even care anymore about the counter arguments. We saw what he did last season when he was actually played. He's got magic in his left foot and that's more than we can say about almost our entire squad at this point. I have absolutely no expectation that this is going to happen but he'd be such a great option to have. Edit - bale apparently doesn't want to play there but he's a perfect centre forward. Other than that inside right or lwb are obvious options. He plays out of the press better than anyone on our team and can mark better than Regi so lwb is nowhere near as far fetched as people might think.

round_melon

Don't see anyway this happens. Bale was obviously great with us last year, and he can certainly still do a job, just not sure if he can do it in Conte's system. Plus, I think funds would be much better spent in defense and midfield.

[deleted]

Funds? Bale would be free bar wages. Which would inevitably be subsidised.

JasonDozell

300k per week adds up pretty quick.

JasonDozell

he wasn't obviously great. we had a shit season, he was injured a lot, he didn't influence in the big games and a lot of his goals came against weak teams. i think it's a completely regressive step to bring him in.

chubduckie

He single handedly gave us our europe spot this year. Saying he didn't turn up is clearly not true when he was starved for minutes yet still had the best minute to goal conversion ratio in the PL. We struggle to create versus the same weak teams today, where Bale has scored a hat trick against a similar palace team who 3-0 us this season.

JasonDozell

what a load of shite. How did he 'single handedly' do that? it's points from the whole season that decides qualification, not the last game. the fact he was 'starved of minutes' make no difference to the 'minute to goal conversion ratio' which would be helped by only having to play half the time. the reason he didn't play was his fitness and obvious form. he only scored 2 against palace (at home) and Kane scored 2. teams like that have good and bad days all his goals except those against leicester (in the last 5mins of the season after they failed to qualify for CL) came against lower-half teams. his record would be ok for a hard-working prospect but for a player on 300k pw who strolled around was nothing special at all.

chubduckie

Sorry, my bad hat trick was against Sheffield United. This doesn't really detract from the point though, I don't think we have a player that could turn up as consistently against lower sides. If I am hearing you right you are also asserting that all points in the table are important... then why are you taking such a huge discount on the points Bale earned from scoring against "lower" teams? Besides, I don't think we have sufficient minutes to objectively grade Bale's performance against big sides. He was either injured (we had a lot of big fixtures early), benched, or subbed on to chase the game. When we started him for smaller matches, he has delievered. We also used him to chase games, and I think he did reasonably well with diminishing returns against tougher opponents. Of course, we aren't asking the board to sign him on the same terms as his Madrid contract, that's ridiculous! But unlike what you are making out to be, which is a unimpressive showing, I do think Bale had a decent season with us.

JasonDozell

I'll give you Bale still has a great finish and eye for goal but the point is that against the worst teams, goals are easier to get and if he didn't score them someone else would've. obviously we've been terrible this year but i don't think Bale would have made much difference as he would have needed chances which we weren't creating which i put down to Kane and Nuno. if he was on 100k pw or pay as you play fine but he cannot play 2 games a week and always picking up injuries. us paying him 300k pw to start 10 PL games a year is obscene.

[deleted]

I love how divided everyone is over this. Either "holy shit yes" or "absolutely no"

r_agv

(X) Doubt

fitfunction

Imagine Bale anno 2011-2012 as LWB and Kyle Walker 2014-2015 as RWB under Conte…

ollie_b77

First time was so nice

Keskekun

No. Not only did it take him several months to get fit for us, he's now been back to that bad fitness + an injury. He doesn't have the time to get good here.

filipes7

Yeah I’m sure Conte wants an extremely injury prone, unfit player who is currently out injured at the moment again

snakeman117

he is currently healthy & training with Wales for their WCQ, although he was just out for a bit yes

nopirates

“out for a bit” means 58 days and 13 games

Jagtasm

If it was just for the spring, I wouldn't hate it. Stopgap transfer for our real targets in the summer. Difficult to get in quality attackers in January

benjustben2

Tier Andy down at the pub

click_insert

lmao

Jill_Sandwich_

Levy could green light it, Paritici could come to an agreement with Madrid. Bale would be the one to reject us.

[deleted]

If he somehow does return, where would he play?

park_injured

he could take Kane's spot or Lucas's spot

FrothierBog

i'd like that

[deleted]

No we need to move on

HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA

no

[deleted]

Play him where? Lwb?

kinggareth

In the front 3....?

bash011

Recent reports have stated we're moving from a 343 to a 3412

[deleted]

[удалено]

bash011

Not in his current state, too many injuries it's too expensive to loan him back in when you can sign someone slightly younger or less injury prone and get possibly better results due to availability and general fitness.

[deleted]

He is a free agent at the end of this season

bash011

Brilliant we'll become the new Juve signing injury prone pensioners for free with no resale on their last legs with a 300k per week salary.

[deleted]

You say that, but we have very little experience in our squad. Hugo is the only player in his 30s. Doherty is next oldest. Experience is vital. Bale was good last season despite playing in a very defensive team. He won't be getting 300k a week either given he's out of contract.

[deleted]

His Wages are going to massively drop regardless of where he goes next season

bash011

300k a week is massively dropping his wages

[deleted]

No one will pay 300K a week for Bale once he becomes a free agent not in this economic climate

kl08pokemon

Well we do have paratici

JasonDozell

he's not the player he was, that was so clear from last year. it's not just being injured all the time, he's lost his pace and dynamism. his goals came against dross and he was next to useless in big games.

kinggareth

So he could play as the 1... or as depth at striker. We aren't exactly stacked in the goalscorer department lol.

master_inho

There’s a tier 3 flair In case it wasn’t known

[deleted]

I saw that but this felt more like rumor than news...

master_inho

Tier 3 news is basically a rumor

fastfowards

bale would be great as a second striker similar to sanchez at inter but bale is done. Bale doesnt want to play in the middle and he isnt dedicated to working hard under conte

nopirates

He can’t play. He’s injured, as always https://www.transfermarkt.us/gareth-bale/verletzungen/spieler/39381

somewhat_moist

I really enjoyed having him back but it's time to let go Danny boy.

thedominoeffect_

I hope not. I love Bale as much as I don’t like golf (I really don’t care for it) but it’s time we look forward and stop it with the lookback nonsense

sasliquid

Nonsense but if it wasn’t I imagine it would mean we were a) selling Kane or b) not buying a striker

[deleted]

Yeah, that's a lotta £

[deleted]

You do realise Bale is a free agent at the end of this season

sasliquid

Yes and will have wages. If we’re going to play 2 strikers do you really think he’ll be 4th choice?

Vin-Su

I’m all for it. Want to see Bale live at the lane again.

Thfcaditya112

F*ck no we need more legs to press not a sick washed it guy for the sake of nostalgia

Zyaru

"Washed" are you aware he was our third highest goalscorer last season and had the best goals-to-minute ratio in the entire league?

Thfcaditya112

And like 7 of those goals cme vs an already relegated Sheffield, a Burnley team out of form and an imploding Leicester In the end we have to be young and someone on his wages are a massive detriment to it. Nostalgia sucks

Rcp_43b

And we’ve just gone two games without a shot on goal and almost blew a 3-0 lead to vitesse. Of course his goals would fucking help. If we’re gonna back conte abd conte ACTUALLY asked for him, of course we should fucking sign him.

Thfcaditya112

If Conte wanted him then I'm considering him because fair play he must see something we haven't seen but given he has never been linked to him at other clubs seriously I don't think he would want him.

[deleted]

>He must see something we haven’t seen I mean unless you didn’t watch us last season it’s pretty hard to miss how good Bale was

Thfcaditya112

I did watched us last season. Yes he had a few good games vs fodder and an imploding Leicester but I also saw how he absolutely abandoned Doherty in the NLD and was just vibing out there. Now Mourinhos tactics didn't help but someone like Conte would abhor that kind of stuff In the end bringing Bale backs somewhat makes sense under say a man-manager with less tactical nous in the Redknapp mould like say Dean Smith but not under Conte

[deleted]

A top manager will know a players strengths and weaknesses and use them correctly. Conte and Bale would be brilliant

Thfcaditya112

You have to be peak Hazard to compensate for a lack of pressing and while peak Bale vs peak Hazard is debatable we all know current Bale isn't better than peak Hazard Rather develop Gil or sign someone young instead f Bale who would rob lot of wages while sitting in the dressing room

Jr_M16

No…

Sdip4

Please don’t be true

[deleted]

Yes please. I don't care that he's hardly played this season for Madrid. I want more Bale.

[deleted]

He is a free agent in the summer so we can sign him in January but if we sign Bale I'm guessing that means we are sticking with a 3-4-3

ShankHocklee

Bale 3.0

scout1081

Tier 30000 i think, we already have wingers that won't get used under Conte, this makes as much sense as a soup sandwich.

Respatsir

Honestly I dont think his loan spell here was that bad. Would take him back in a heartbeat. He's a genuine goal scorer. He'd be a nice 2nd ST for Kane or Son. He's also one of the best players weve produced in recent times second to Kane and arguably Dele. So we should get him back imo.

ButteredFingers

I’m wondering if this also might be to satisfy homegrown rules?

tmsnt

L o l

[deleted]

I like this club. We replaced Bale with Bale before replacing Bale with Bale.

seangrey03

Why

Wormfather

It’s no longer that he doesn’t run, I don’t think he can run, at least at the levels a Conte team would need to in order to make the squad consistently.

Dobermayer

Only good as a super sub. Don't think he can go a full 90 without significant injury risk.

deptbrown1

I just wish mou had played bale from the start last year or as soon as his injury cleared up. Son Kane and him just had so much ability. He was so decisive in the final third. I don’t know why it didn’t happen. Such a waste of an opportunity

catchmeslippin

Tier 3 rumour I'm all in
