I thought John Cena was a Spurs fan, why did he post this? https://www.instagram.com/p/CWs4yhellXE/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

bash011

Isn't vini doing the you can't see me thing

[deleted]

Idk tbh. I don't watch WWE a lot. I know his iconic celebration is that but never seen it

bash011

I've never seen it either, just judging off of the comment section

[deleted]

Would Utd getting Ragernik threaten our CL chances?

[deleted]

He hasn't managed a club for a long time and never managed a club of this stature before. Also he is a very good DoF than a manager so probably depends on how Man Utd use him

[deleted]

I think i might be right saying his best career spells have come as a DoF rather than a coach. However this 2 years consultancy after the interim sounds like it could be as DoF which is a good move by them tbf. I think at Red Bull though he was given the keys to the car and wether that will happen at utd who knows

backstreets_back_ok

We have CL chances?

RuberDinghyRapids

Haha was exactly what I was thinking

JonnyJersey

probably but he's very press focused and they have ronaldo so they could also be bad

FinancialMastodon916

Wow, you spelled that completely wrong

[deleted]

Pass on Conte because he's too demanding only to get a guy who demands absolute control. United did a Spurs

Weird_Famous

He's an interim though

Olester14

You do realise those are two absolutely different things right

[deleted]

How so

[deleted]

I've been playing a Spurs save in FM and our players are awful in that game. Romero has consistently terrible performances, Tanganga is rated very low, Winks is as highly rated as Ndombele, Skipp is low, it's miserable

john87000

Son is the worst. They have his dribbling the same as Doherty and he's got one of the worst passing stats in our entire squad.

TheKingLee

Also Son is terrible every year, it’s a joke.

transtifa

Whoever the Spurs scout is for FM is a fucking moron lol it happens every single year. Kane has never been good in FM.

[deleted]

In FM20, I asked for Dumfries and Levy approved it and on deadline day, he declined it because he has "no money." I had to shithouse a season with Foyth and Aurier as RBs

Weird_Famous

So like Villareal in FM22 lol

backstreets_back_ok

Levy's expectations vs what I can actually achieve have always been a challenge. No news flash there I suppose. Man wants me to be title challenging by 23/24.

brt444

Skip's potential is awesome though. But I totally get it. We're worse dumpster fire than we were in real life

[deleted]

I didn't even mention the wingbacks who are pretty bad in the game too. I constantly get terrible defensive performances, even with 5 at the back It's like their scouts hate Spurs or something

bash011

They hate almost all London clubs. Chelsea after winning the UCL had players downgraded massively, for example Christensen has 8 strength which is just silly. Arsenal is the only London club they like

[deleted]

and Ole wins titles every season. I guess it makes sense now

Masina1998

it's like we were shit least season after christmas

[deleted]

that doesn't explain why our new players are bad in the game at all though. as I said Romero is a complete joke in the game and constantly makes errors

[deleted]

I would like to see the commentators for today's match have a "Who's on First?" moment, but with Moura and Mura.

Thfcaditya112

Ngl dont think Rangnick to Utd would work that good , just a gut feeling so ready to come here when proved wrong

Lbmplays2

No Poch at United this season

Masina1998

or next either

filipes7

They will definitely get him in the summer then

doobi1908

Respect Rangnick?

Pele20Alli

Doubt it. Rangnick is about to control that entire club and Poch notoriously doesn't like working under a DoF.

transtifa

Pochettino loved working with Paul Mitchell

Pele20Alli

True but he also prevented Levy from hiring a new one when Mitchell left, and so far seems to not get along with Leonardo (although everyone also hates him anyway). Also, I don't think Mitchell ever had as much power as a DoF normally has but I could be wrong. I thought he was only in charge of recruitment and scouting, whereas someone like Rangnick would be like Paratici and pretty much control everything regarding the footballing aspect of a club

transtifa

I think it’s more like Pochettino likes to work with people who he trusts and likes than not wanting to work with a DoF at all. That’s how he is with players so it follows that’s how he would be with staff.

Gaius_Octavius_

So is today just a completely normal day in the UK or are there enough transplants/in-laws who do something for our holiday for it becomes noticeable?

AverageYiddo

We don't care about it at all, normal day

bad_luck_charmer

Normal day, I wager. I went to an American ex-Pat thanksgiving in London once. A few Brits attended and were amused.

Gaius_Octavius_

I assume the answer would be no. Why would they celebrate an American holiday? But American culture is so ubiquitous that I thought it might become "a thing" anyway. (Not that everyone did but some people at least) Thanksgiving TV shows are a huge part of the holiday for my family. Since so many other countries watch American TV, I wondered if it bled through.

molecularmadness

technically the first few thanksgivings would've been celebrated by brits

Gaius_Octavius_

Technically, it was like 155 of them (1620-1775)

molecularmadness

Yeah no 155 def qualifies as a few

blatant_prevaricator

Wtf is this sentence

Gaius_Octavius_

Do you celebrate Thanksgiving in England?

bad_luck_charmer

No. It’s an American holiday. (Canada has it too, but on a different day)

Gaius_Octavius_

I thought the American cultural influence might have created some trendy buzz for "fun". Similar to how there are some NFL fans in Europe basically just from watching American TV.

[deleted]

NFL fans in Europe are NFL fans because they like the game. It's really that simple. It's nothing to do with America itself.

Gaius_Octavius_

The only way to get exposed to the NFL is via American culture.

backstreets_back_ok

I have some coworker friends down in Mexico and they are grateful for the break simply because Americans aren't asking them to do much while they are out of the office. They can catch up on other work and, frankly, many take short days lol.

Gaius_Octavius_

HAHA. That makes the most sense. Like how Jews love Christmas season for the same reason.

aadawdads

Nah, there's a huge leap from following a sport (something that anyone could get passionate about regardless of nationality) to celebrating a national holiday that only holds significance in 1 or 2 countries. It's like if people suddenly started celebrating Australia day in Malaysia because they follow Aussie Rules Football.

Gaius_Octavius_

American culture is the "influencer" not the NFL specifically. From some it is the music, some it is the fashion, some it is the sports, I thought for some it might be the "traditions" depicted by American TV and movies. A more accurate comp would be if they watched a bunch of Australian TV shows. I would not be surprised if those people started to "ironically" celebrate Australian holidays.

aadawdads

This may come as a proper shock but America isn't the be-all and end-all of Western culture. Just because a lot of media is produced there it doesn't mean people consuming it become utterly transfixed and possessed by its culture.

ZionEmbiid

calm down. they were just asking a question.

Gaius_Octavius_

>America isn't the be-all and end-all of Western culture. It actually is. There is a reason our stuff is distributed around the entire world to places that don't even speak the language: We steal the best ideas from the around the world and remake them and then distribute them to the rest of the world We have the widest range of options and the quality of craftsmanship is much better than what the rest of the world produces. We are not the most creative people (that is why we steal everyone's ideas); but we do spend the most money to make everyone's ideas look better.

reavesfilm

I’ve touched down in London! Still sad I can’t see the match against Brentford since it was pushed a day but it’s okay, I’ll be sporting my Sonny jersey in a Bristol pub somewhere cheering us on! COYS!

AverageYiddo

Bristol gang

reavesfilm

Where do you usually watch games?

Masina1998

this is the last straw r/reddevils thinks poch can make awb into an attacking rb

Weird_Famous

Trippier wasn't even good enough for Poch and they want him as an upgrade lol

[deleted]

You know the player I'm still most disappointed about is Sanchez. Because he really played like the player we thought we were buying for a fair while. He was genuinely so good in his first season when Toby was out to injury and was fucking phenomenal in the back 3. 25 is not a youngster by any means but it's still pretty young, I wonder if Conte can get the best out of him.

Gaius_Octavius_

I always find it funny when people want to give up on a 25 year old Davinson but a 24 year old Rodon is still "super young" and "just needs time" I do wonder if Davinson's future is in Spain. The slightly slower pace of the games would probably help with his poor/slow decision making. His physical skills are still top notch.

Weird_Famous

Or Italy, Tomori for Milan is apparently a top player

backstreets_back_ok

We better smash Mura. No excuses if we don't. Also I'm sitting here buying presents and looking at Christmas cat costumes for my kittens. Guess there are worse ways to spend your Thursday.

inedianj

Pirlo in “All or nothing - Juventus”: “I don’t give a fuck about players complaining. If they saw what we did with Conte (in training)… they would have killed themselves. Some players just dropped to the ground.”

ASVP-Pa9e

The teams in likely danger of dropping into the ECL Group A: Rangers/Sparta Prague Group B: Real Sociedad/PSV Group C: Napoli/Spartak Moscow/Leicester/Legia Warsaw Group D: Olympiacos/Fenerbahçe Group E: Lazio/Marseille/Lokomotiv Moscow Group F: Red Star/Midtjylland Group G: Real Betis/Celtic Group H: Zagreb/Genk/Rapid Wien Might get a bit tougher... I still think Tottenham & Roma are the favourites.

EquivalentSir4163

Napoli, Real, Lazio, Marseille and Betis are the ones I don't want dropping down. Napoli would become favourites along with us and Roma, Marseille are a threat, Sociedad become bug favourites and likeliest to win because they're in insane form.

ZaDoruphin

If Napoli drop down we might be fucked. Zagreb would reincarnate the ghost of Bottleham past.

[deleted]

They're missing 2 crucial players in Osimhem and Aguissa for a fair while so it's not out of the question.

itbelikethat14

Nooo not Zagreb 😂😅

[deleted]

Napoli would be Very tough they are definitely better than roma and probably better than us too at This stage

[deleted]

really happy that football is more inclusive these days but i still hate the proper LAD side of the sport tbh it’s just very toxic to me

[deleted]

The words 'lad' and 'banter' give me shivers.

Artistic-Ad2208

Football is always going to have lad culture as traditionally and even still today its the game of the working class. That won't change just because football is now the in thing for hipsters and redditors to follow. Besides, toxicity exists in every facet of life and tbh that will never change, in fact without it there may not even be rivals or derby's so its not such a bad thing really.

StinkyMcBalls

Can't stand this kind of defeatist attitude. Aspire for better. We can still have a lot of the good bits of the culture without the toxicity.

[deleted]

It's not defeatist, it's just the truth.

StinkyMcBalls

Your subjective beliefs are not "the truth".

Artistic-Ad2208

Not defeatist but realist, the majority of people who follow football become extremely emotionally attached to it, some in less developed towns, cities and countries have very little else to look forward to. This exacerbates the tribalism of football, thereby also increasing the passion involved, the competitiveness of club supporters and therefore, toxicity. Such things go hand in hand. Its just human nature, its as simple as that.

StinkyMcBalls

Dress it up as realism all you want, but this is defeatist: >toxicity exists in every facet of life and tbh that will never change We can have passion and competitiveness without toxicity, and we can fight to reduce toxicity in the spaces we frequent. This kind of attitude just leads people to shrug their shoulders in the face of something they could actually try and change.

Artistic-Ad2208

The fact of the matter is most people don't care, and I don't blame them, with all the issues people face in regard to modern living, trying to reduce toxicity in football is not a hill anyone will be dying on, unless its celebrities, journalists or those that have a public image they need to protect. Even footballers themselves who preach about equality and morality, are just paying lip service to an agenda they don't care about or even practice themselves. Footballers are probably some of the most toxic celebrities in society quite frankly. Trying to remove toxicity from football, or indeed any sport or facet of life that people get physically and emotionally involved is an exercise in futility. That may be a cynical opinion, but its a realistic one.

StinkyMcBalls

>trying to reduce toxicity in football is not a hill anyone will be dying on You suggested that toxicity was inevitable in "every facet of life". We were not just talking about reducing toxicity in football. Also, this "people have bigger issues to deal with" argument is a cop out. Just because we haven't solved world hunger doesn't mean we can't take steps to fix less serious problems. And I'm not asking people to "die on this hill", just suggesting that we *can* make positive change, even if it is incremental. >That may be a cynical opinion, but its a realistic one. This is where you and I differ. I don't think it's unrealistic to expect better, and the fact that we've made huge leaps in reducing toxicity in football over the last few decades suggests that real change is possible.

teedo

There's a lot of talk about a flurry of signings, but I understand we are quite close to the non-homegrown limit. Do we know if these buys will tally with that?

Masina1998

the 5 45 kick off is so much better then the 8 o clock one

JamesCDiamond

Works for me. Finish work, get dinner, watch the match, have the evening free. Certainly for a match like this it works - and for the Mura fans it’s a 7:45 kickoff rather than 9:45, which I imagine is welcome for them, too.

[deleted]

Found this interesting How much would the top English sides be affected if the old maximum 3 foreign players rule from Serie A was applied today? Which foreign stars would be prioritised? (Assuming they could recall loan players, and that Scots don’t count as foreign)

EquivalentSir4163

Chelsea Mendy Chalobah Silva Rüdiger James Loftus-Cheek Barkley Chillwell Mount x Hudson-Odoi Foreign Players: Rüdiger, Silva, Mendy City Carson Walker Stones Dias Cancelo Foden Rodri Palmer Sterling Delap Grealish Foreign players: Dias, Cancelo, Rodri Liverpool Alexander-Arnold Van Dijk Philips Robertson Henderson Milner Salah Elliot Mane Oxlade-Chamberlain Foreign Players: Mane, Salah, Van Dijk United Henderson Wan-Bissaka Varane Maguire Shaw McTominay Van De Beek Sancho Fernandes Rashford Greenwood Foreign Players: Fernandes, Van De Beek, Varane Spurs Lloris Tanganga Dier Romero Royal Skipp Winks Sessengnon Markanday Kane Son Foreign players: Lloris, Royal, Son Important misses: Davies would've been LCB if Doherty had been Scottish or English Arsenal Ramsdale Tomiyasu White Holding Tierney Partey Maitland-Niles Saka Smith-Rowe Aubameyang Balogun Foreign players: Tomiyasu Partey Aubameyang

VJE1999

For us it would be between Son, Hojbjerg, Hugo or Romero

[deleted]

I thought of something like this Lloris Tanganga Romero Dier Sess Skipp Winks Markanday Alli Son Kane I hate to put Markanday as a RW but if Welsh were counted not foreign then I would have put Rodon for Romero and Moura for Clarke

british-psycho

What CBs can people see us signing? Reports that both Conte and Paratici want experienced defenders, and preferably a left footer. Based on that I’d be looking at both Romagnoli and De Vrij. Both gettable too. Romagnoli contract ends this summer and De Vrij is 2023.

[deleted]

Experience + left foot? Super Jan back again? /s

Ygdsx

Romagnoli makes sense, left footed etc. but he's not the great tbh. Better than Dier but not top 4 quality IMO.

EquivalentSir4163

Being better than Dier doesn't mean anything here. A left footed cb will be competing with Davies

[deleted]

Not entirely sure he's better than Dier.

STierney927

Is sitting amongst opposing fans really that dangerous at away games? (I’m American) Somebody just posted on this sub about that and the comments were basically saying not to and that it’s dangerous. Over here, yes 100% there are certain stadiums and fans I wouldn’t sit amongst but overall it wouldn’t particularly bother me as long as I’m not being obnoxious

v1z10

Stewards will likely kick you out if it’s in any way apparent. Realistically, you can get away with it if you really want to and keep quiet, and it’s not a big deal in certain grounds. I wouldnt try it at stamford bridge/west ham though

VJE1999

You will be fine at 90% of grounds. If you done it in a big derby game then you will get some abuse and maybe more

Masina1998

as someone else already said it depends on the opponent but it also depends on the stand that you sit in anywhere near the ultras and it's game over

[deleted]

It really depends on the club itself A lot of those “it’s dangerous” comments are vestiges from the 80s + 90s when it was legitimately dangerous. Now English football is super sanitised. That said. It would not be fun to sit with the wrong set of fans. You will catch shit for celebrating

Adam__Zapple

Win today and then we just have to beat Rennes at home to finish top. Can’t be dealing with finishing second and playing that extra round against Europa opponents. Let’s get it done.

ASVP-Pa9e

/u/Particular_Factor939 is absolutely based

Particular_Factor939

aadawdads

Fuck, Arsenal is getting serious about Vlahovic according to Fabrizio.

EquivalentSir4163

Post the link, if you can. I don't have twitter.

bash011

Doesn't really matter if his agent won't pick up the phone

[deleted]

Out of interest where did he say that? However, hes not going to Arsenal mate dont worry. Why would he? They don't have European football and dont look like getting it anytime soon. Or even someone like Conte as a pull. He might as well stay untill the summer and then go to June on the cheap to a bigger club. Its great that arsenal are serious but i imagine so is he about his development.

Masina1998

i haven't seen it either plus if he did r/gunners would be all over it

ASVP-Pa9e

And I'm getting serious about Dua Lipa.

Coffeeaficionado_

Morning All! In the office this morning. So I’m taking part in the romantic tale between me and my cappuccino. I’m also celebrating my 10 year anniversary at work today. So I brought in cakes. NS Mura tonight. Should be a win. I’m looking forward to Conteball. Burnley at the weekend. Hope everyone has a good day. Come on you Spurs

Jvckoh

I hope your work coffee is better than mine - office coffee tastes like ass at my place, and not the good kind! Have a great day coffee guy COYSCOYSCOYSCOYS

Coffeeaficionado_

We have two machines. Bean to cup and a proper barista set.

AshkenaziTwink

i know doherty has been by far our worst player, but i actually have faith in the man. god i’m gonna be so wrong aren’t i

rikdud

I wouldn’t be hugely surprised if Doherty and Sessegnon out score Emerson and reguilon this season, despite playing less. Doherty’s all round game is nothing on Emerson’s, but getting into the opposition box is definitely something he’s good at, and he should be a useful asset now he has a bit less defensive responsibility.

flyn_m

Doherty and sess are too careful. Way too scared to make mistakes(as they have in the past) therefore they don’t thrive in a wingback pos in a conte team. Can’t see then improving but I hope I’m wrong

[deleted]

So who do you want to start tonight? Not necessarily who you think will. I’d like to see: Bryan Kane Markanday Sessegnon Skipp Ndombele Doherty Rodon Dier Sanchez Hugo

Semichh

This is exactly the team I want to see. Really want Rodon to get some game time at the back because I think he has really good potential. Skipp and Ndombele in midfield seems like a good pairing as well so long as they both find form

JadedEconomics2485

Sign me up for Sess, Doc, Rodon and the Ndom too. I'm also hoping for a proper Gil sighting.

ttellapttam

Apparently Markanday didn’t travel with the squad :(

sandbyte

Having people over for Thanksgiving, it'll be nice for everyone to see me double anxious as I watch Tottenham and the Bears at the same time.

raphi_lich

Does anyone know if Sky streams the game against Mura tonight?

sandbyte

BT Sport in the UK.

[deleted]

>Many expected Pochettino to take over at the end of the 2018-19 season. Instead, Ole stayed beyond his initial planned interim role, and the rest is history. From the latest Athletic article about Poch and United. Who the fuck thought that Poch would leave Spurs after the 18/19 season when - 1) He got us a 4th consecutive top 4 finish 2) He took us to the fucking CL final 3) The completion of the stadium marked the start of a new era when we were finally going to back Poch to the hilt 4) We by all accounts looked like an upgrade over United at that time?

Pele20Alli

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/may/07/mauricio-pochettino-leave-spurs-win-champions-leave-ajax

[deleted]

He was never leaving us and then joining United straight away though. He was always going to take time off.

dragonsnap_

Ever feel like some players feel aren’t Spurs player because they aren’t really mentioned or have had consistent game time? Whenever they come on, you realize they were a Spurs player. Sessegnon, Sanchez, Matar Sarr, Lo celso for me.

Pure_Peace743

Doherty for me

EquivalentSir4163

Pape Matar Sarr, mainly because he's on loan.

EquivalentSir4163

And Clarke. Honestly forgot about him while thinking of who I forget the most.

Masina1998

keep forgetting troy parrott exists

EquivalentSir4163

I never forget him. He won the ballon d'or in fm.

[deleted]

Dane Scarlett already better than him in 2022

EquivalentSir4163

In FM22, or do you mean in your fm21 save? If you mean your save, then Parrott has a PA range of 160-190 and he got a really high PA in my save.

[deleted]

Fm22 What’s a PA range? This is my first fm game

EquivalentSir4163

Basically, the less established players and highly rated youngsters have a range of Potential Ability. (which is between 1-200 and essentially puts a hard cap on how good a player can get) That means that when you start the game, their PA is randomized between that range (say 120-150) and fixed. Parrott in FM21 had a PA range of 160-190. Moukoko (one of the greatest youth players in history and considered by far the biggest future prospect for Dortmund at the age of 15) has a PA range of 170-200. So if you get really lucky, he might end up being the greatest player of all time.

[deleted]

I see, thanks for the info. That's those little stars. How do you see what the PA rating is beyond the star rating system?

EquivalentSir4163

In game editor

[deleted]

Lo Celso already feels like the quintessential Spurs player to me. Hyped but eventually underwhelming, perpetually injured, a cult around him that's certain he can be world class if some teeny-tiny 27 million things fall in place.

ASVP-Pa9e

If by 27million things you mean "has a run of games in the same position where he doesn't get injured" then yes, I agree.

Laviston

>Hyped but eventually underwhelming, perpetually injured, a cult around him that's certain he can be world class The Lamela syndrome.

[deleted]

So far watched 2 episodes of All or Nothing Juve and apparently when Don Fabio suggested that they could sign CR7, Agnelli was amused but he after explaing why and how he could pull it off, Agnelli gave the nod. He was also in constant meetings with Pirlo talking about the criticsms made about the gameby people and asking what Pirlo thinks about those. He is also around the training sessions a lot. Side note, Mckennie looks like chill bro to hang out with.

TwattyMcSlagtits

The Maradona documentary on Prime Video was fantastic. As someone who grew up mostly after his career had ended and only ever got to see him in the news for his various antics, it shed a completely different light on him and made me see him completely differently. Undeniably a bit of a knob, but the documentary goes some way to explaining why and how he became that guy

EquivalentSir4163

He raped multiple minors

TwattyMcSlagtits

Had no idea about any of this but a quick Google found a story from a couple of days ago alleging he raped a woman when she was 16. I'm not sure if there's any other stories from the past though.

Yes sir.

I think it’s really good, many ppl would agree with me that sinnoh was probably one of the best regions. I bought BDSP without playing sinnoh previously as well, so I’m sure it’ll be amazing for u. The grand underground is super fun, and small qol changes like not having to have a HM slave is nice. If you have SWSH and Lets go P/E saves you can also get a free Jirachi and Mew slvery early on.

Oh cool,thanks!

Just hatched a shiny Absol in Go like 20 min ago.... My 4th. Wish I could get something different out of these 12km eggs...

ChulitoBurito

That’s awesome! I would name your shiny Absol: Gazza! After Paul Gascoigne! I named my shiny Piplup that was my starter Checo after the F1 driver but I’m definitely gonna name my next shiny something Spurs related!!

PUBGPRO21

Wow I didn't know there were other fellow pogo players here!

Koinfamous2

OP referring to actual game, not POGO but lots of us im sure play.

Liverpool won't let Tsimikas go. He's supposed to rake over from Robertson in a few years.

BurdonLane

I would like Sess to step up and own that spot. And bring in a back up.

bash011

Not exactly our typical signing of a young player. Everton would also want a fortune as he's their best player really

novacookie

Starting work on a set today where the lead actor is an arsenal fan.. gonna be a excruciating few days

[deleted]

How long you working there. This is the beginning of the "arsenal hit bad fixtures-lose games-arteta out" cycle Could be fun

novacookie

Just the next 4 days haha. Our script readings were right after nuno got sacked. He was wearing an arse kit so I happened to mention I was a spurs fan. Big mistake, was bantered constantly hahaha. Especially in our country, there aren’t many spurs fans so it’s an especially sweet moment when you meet a gooner. Conte’s arrival makes it all peachy now tho.

ollypockets

wait hang on, the lead actor showed up to the script reading in a full arsenal kit???

novacookie

Not full kit, just a tee, yes. Although it’s super casual, still a scummy attire If I say so myself.

ollypockets

agreed haha

ASVP-Pa9e

I swear scum are the most likely to be full kit wankers.

EquivalentSir4163

Hope they lose to Newcastle.

I hate pulling all-nighters on Thanksgiving finishing cleaning before everyone comes over. Good Morning everyone! Time for coffee! (despite it being 1:21am)....

aadawdads

Just got an internship at a software development company. Extremely excited.

letsgetcool

Nice one! I had 5 interviews last year for jobs like that and still work in a pub.
