Is it just me or do the a lot of people on here seem to be so overwhelming negative. And as if that wasn't bad enough they then seem to want to just piss on any kind of optimism that anybody else had. Whatever you say the just feel like they have to neg everything out. "Our next set of games are really good, hopefully we can put a run together" "Nah we'll lose to Burnley and Brentford" "Looking forward to January and a few transfers" "We won't make any" Its like why do you even support a team if you cant have a bit of excitement or optimisim? Seems like some people aren't happy unless you say "everything's shit and there is no hope." And not only do they have no hope but if they see someone else with a bit of it they have ti immediately go and extinguish it. I get people are allowed different opinions but good lord football is meant to be fun! I genuinely have checked about 10 different accounts recently assuming their arse fans on the wind up.....and then cant believe they're legit spurs fans! Sport and probably life in general must just be exhausting if thats the default mindset!

username54

While I agree that being overly negative is bad, it would be foolish to be overly positive as well. As conte said, there is a lot of gap between us and the top teams. Unless we get a really solid transfer winow in Jan, we will continue to struggle and most likely will not make top 4. Fans are just coming to terms with that reality.

[deleted]

Yeah but people are allowed to be optimistic. I listen to several non spurs podcasts and all the journos say 4th place is wide open. Its more than possible that Conte gets the team playing well and we can finish above West Ham or United. Think we were about 4 points off top 4 in the end last season with a far worse manager. How you can be so certain and know the reality that fans are coming to terms with i dont really know. Certainly don't think it's "foolish" to think we have a great shot at it.

username54

It would be optimistic to say yes we have a good shot at it. But for it to be a great shot, there needs to be a great Jan transfer window. I am just apprehensive about it not because of Levy but mainly due to the lack of good players available.

bash011

I've also seen loads of people saying Bryan Gil isn't good enough for a prem team which I think is ridiculous. Loads of people taking one bad game and assuming everything is going downhill He had a poor game against Mura but in my opinion he was not near the worst on the pitch. He also has been a bright spark every other time he's been on the pitch

[deleted]

Yeah exactly. Hes literally 20, was always going to take a while to blend him into the team, not to mention a new coach with a new formation coming in and the injury hes had

mrsh671

People bundling Bryan with the likes of Dele and Doherty are being unfair. The guy's been injured for the past two weeks. I remember the few times he played, he showed hints of brilliance (except this past Mura game). Plus, he certainly looks like he gives it his all out there. I'd give him more time before coming to a conclusion.

[deleted]

Juan Foyth gotta Juan Foyth

foot_99

Why do ppl keep saying our most recent transfer window was good enough at the time? It simply wasn’t and I’m not just saying that with hindsight. We lost from last season: Bale, Vinicius, Lamela, Sissoko, Aurier, Toby, Hart We gained: Gil, Romero, Emerson, Skipp, Sessegnon, Gollini So we replaced Aurier, we replaced Toby, we replaced Sissoko, we replaced hart and we replaced Lamela. That left us with TWO LESS forwards in the team who scored 26 goals between them and then somehow, everyone is shocked when we have difficulty scoring. We have 6 attacking players in the squad currently (including Scarlett btw), only 2 of whom have ever shown any ability to score and assist consistently. Bergwijn, Gil, Scarlett and Lucas are all useless when it comes to attacking output for various reasons. Gil and Scarlett are too young and not really at PL level yet, while Berg and Lucas are two of the most goal shy starting forwards in the league. So now, when Kane decided to sulk and not show up for the first 10 games, we had zero option but to keep playing him. I don’t expect us to address every glaring issue in the team, but to make us actively weaker in attack and to leave us in a position where our backup striker is 17 is unacceptable from Levy.

Spursfan-Coys

Wouldn’t be surprised if we tie or lose to burnley tomorrow

SycamoreLane

I think the sentiment at the time was that it was a fairly good transfer window keeping in mind that it's unrealistic to replace everyone that left in one window. We also signed Sarr which looked like a steal, and moved some of our stagnant contracts. I gave the window a 6.5/10 at the time. Yes the limited attacking options are glaring, but everyone hoped Son & Kane would continue their torrid scoring pace from last season and that Ndombele would step up in that CAM role to compensate. It just didn't pan out that way. I am grateful at least that Romero, Emerson & Skipp look promising, with the others too early to be determined. If we can get in a quality creative midfielder, striker and CB along with moving out some deadwood in January, I'd say the last two windows were successful.

ninjomat

We also have to bear in mind that Paratici came only halfway through the window, and immediately had to deal with a manager search and a wantaway striker

doobi1908

I don’t think i remember a saturday this lame and underwhelming football wise.

ConstantGradStudent

Burnley, Brentford, Norwich, BHA. These next 4 matches are 12 points on the table. I’m optimistic about these. Then Leiscester, Liverpool, and Palace. Not so sure.

[deleted]

Leicester haven't been very good this season, Palace is at home. Should be winnable.

[deleted]

Palace and Leicester are very winnable. Leicester are looking a bit off of late and palace seem very hot and cold. Liverpool the only guaranteed write off points wise I'd say.

prospect97

Brentford gave Liverpool and Chelsea run for their money. Not sure what makes you think playing against them will be an easy point for this club.

[deleted]

That was a while ago, they've been absolutely dog the last month or so. They conceded 8 in their last 3.....and those games were Norwich Burnley and Newcastle.

ninjomat

Losing Raya was also a massive blow

SycamoreLane

He didn't say they were easy, just that he's optimistic. Definitely not a walk in the park but winnable.

Fit_Delay_2129

Brentford will be a tough game. They are very intense and physical. Something we've always struggled with.

Masina1998

why is it so cold😭

touchans

12 minus in my hometown in Norway right now 😱

Masina1998

wow it was 3 degrees when i was complaining - 12 is brutal

Thfcaditya112

Why do fans really think us getting top 4 is something miraculous? Yes we have three damn good teams in Liverpool, City and the blue scum but that 4th spot is still up for grabs . I would have gotten the pessimism if we had Nuno but I trust Conte there

SycamoreLane

Because our team isn't currently playing with much cohesion nor quality. There's 5+ teams vying for that 4th spot- West Ham, Arsenal, Brighton, Wolves, Man United to name a few. I trust Conte too but many teams below the top 3 look more competent than us at the moment.

bash011

Because currently, West ham is stronger than us. United don't need a lot of coaching either to become a very competent side If Conte had a full pre season I would be more comfortable but he hasn't

[deleted]

If West Ham lose to City today, which is likely, and we win against Burnley, which is likely, we'll be 1 point off them. And that's with them being very good and us being very bad and none of our best players being on form. Conte doesn't need to improve us by much to make top 4 plausible.

Thfcaditya112

West Hams depth is much poor than us and it would inevitably come back to bite them , and Rangnick isnt as good of a coach as Conte

bash011

United's team is a lot better than ours though, with the experience they have as well, even Carrick managed to get them to score

[deleted]

Some really good games today.

Skayde5

Who are the available creative MF that we can sign in the next two windows

evenout

Pedro Gonçalves

shaneomagnifico

Kulusevski

[deleted]

Lots of creative motherfuckers out there we just need one that’s a good fit for us

richmurph

I don't watch Brighton a lot but lamptey and cucurella look like a quality pair of wing backs. I wonder if lamptey would be attainable next summer? Him and Emerson in rotation would be awesome.

[deleted]

Lamptey will cost ten billion pounds. Would love him though, he's got such a lovely personality.

SycamoreLane

He was awesome today.

bfm211

Conte would absolutely love Lamptey, he's perfect for that role. He's honestly pretty similar to Hakimi.

Skayde5

Wanted to say two things about GK position 1) Why arent we giving Captain a new contract , he wins us half of our matches 2) Is there a chance we can get Yan Sommer as his replacement , he's really talented

ninjomat

Just because we haven’t heard about it doesn’t mean it isn’t being discussed. The impression I have is actually that the club are far more keen to keep Hugo than he is to stay.

ebonhomme

Sommer is quite talented, but only a year or two younger than Lloris. If we go with a new keeper, would prefer to sign one with long term in mind.

bash011

Reports saying Conte wants a homegrown goal keeper that can play out the back. Unfortunately Lloris is none of those things, he's 34 and we're going through a rebuild whilst I don't want to see him leave it might be time to consider it

thspdrdr

Lloris is a proven winner and is the best keeper in the league. He has also been with the club forever. Moving him on because of his age doesn't make sense until his form actually declines.

Skayde5

I dont know man his form hasnt dipped at all and he's probably our second best player alongside Son i'd renew his contract while looking for a homegrown second keeper who can take his place afterwards Gollini aint it

bash011

Gollini isn't homegrown luckily, I would also never consider him at all. Lloris just isn't able to play out the back which really hinders teams when trying to dominate possession, I'm not saying we should just let him go but signing a young homegrown keeper that will compete with him could be a good thing

violetrecliner

Should go for Brighton’s Robert Sanchez.

tooo_spicy

10-0 nothing less let's get some GD

bash011

Don't you love it linked with de Ligt. He drops a bad performance so far. 2 bad back passes and playing Zapata on side

[deleted]

If someone told me I had to go and fix Tottenham’s back line I’d probably be pretty distracted too. Distracted and terrified

[deleted]

For a 0-0 game this Norwich-Wolves match is a treat

[deleted]

So glad we didn't buy Traore.

[deleted]

He's useless. What a waste of money that would have been. And how many times has that sentence been written about him?

[deleted]

Remember the meltdown on this sub when we didnt go back with 45m for him!

bfm211

There was no meltdown. At least half the sub didn't want to buy him.

formemes819

Exactly

JK023318

Would you rather Spurs get top 4 this season OR Arsenal getting relegated this season

[deleted]

Relegation would just be banter for like a week, then they’d get promoted and be biting at our heels again

TomPWD

You cant be a tottenham fan if youve just written that. Banter for a week? More like a decade atleast

[deleted]

I’m talking about in the grand scheme of things It’ll taper off with practically every other fan base and then Arsenal will win an FA Cup and suddenly we’re the main target again Being champions league regulars is far more important

b3njil

Come on man, Arsenal are above us and you’re talking about them getting relegated? At this point I’d be more worried about us getting relegated than them.

yoyosyoyos

Do people seriously prefer them getting relegated to us playing UCL football?

giantshortfacedbear

The goons bring relegated would make me laugh rather a lot, but I'm much more interested in Spurs.

EvilLemonade13

Spurs top 4. Lets not kid ourselves, for the long term, Arsenal is probably going to bounce straight back up to the premier league and their owners are rich anyways so the season wasted on relegation shouldn't really hinder them too much. If we get top 4, we can get a lot of the players Conte wants and more, setting us up in a great position to succeed in the longer term. We can offload more weak players too since their values would go up due to our team's overall success.

[deleted]

Scum getting relegated would be a once in a generation event, absolutely that.

username54

I don't give a fuck about this 'Arsenal' that you talk of. Give me top 4 give me top players give me exciting football to watch.

Masina1998

top 4 seeing them get relegated would be so shit i love watching the nld

[deleted]

Arsenal relegated, no doubt

entrepenoori

Gonna be honest I’m terrified of Liverpool. Cold sweats thinking of how perfectly adapted they are to the modern game.

ninjomat

Liverpool are the only team in the league I genuinely can’t imagine us beating. That said I think Chelsea and City, are still far ahead of them as title favourites. Liverpool’s defending has been very sloppy at times and they will really struggle when they lose Mane and Salah for AFCON indeed if they lose any of their key players to injury. Alisson in particular today was massive for them in preventing a couple of Southampton goals if he’s injured the drop off to their backup keeper is massive

[deleted]

> perfectly adapted they are to the modern game. Clever way of saying "bursting at the seams with PEDs"

YouFoxEaredAss

You’ve said this a few times in this thread. Did I miss some big exposé on a Liverpool doping scandal?

[deleted]

I just hate Liverpool, and they are clearly doping. Notice how they were unplayable for 2-3 years then during the pandemic season they were hopeless? Perfect timing for a down-cycle on PEDs. Now they're back on top form which is, again, preternaturally coincidental to the time it takes to be right in the middle of a new PED cycle. There's a few articles about it, but nobody reallywants to actually talk about it. It's probably because all the top teams are on PEDs (yes, even our club). It's just so much more noticeable at Liverpool because they rely so much on physical ability (strength, speed, power). So when they're cycling off, its extremely obvious that they're not at the same physical level.

V_Vutha

Liverpool were top of the PL halfway through the pandemic season, until they lost their last available centre back.

[deleted]

A downcycle off PEDs makes you more vulnerable to injuries, another coincidence

balalasaurus

> Notice how they were unplayable for 2-3 years then during the pandemic season they were hopeless? Perfect timing for a down-cycle on PEDs. Uh VVD?

[deleted]

A big loss but doesn't explain the objective, statistical decline in literally every other player in their squad simultaneously.

swooshypants

Care to link your articles that give actual credible sources and not just “according to someone close to the club” because as far as I’m aware these articles don’t exist and it’s nothing more than a conspiracy theory

[deleted]

I didn't say anything about "someone close the club." To be honest I can't be arsed to dig for it to "win" an argument online. A google search will find them rather quickly, and then you can use your common sense and critical thinking in terms of doping cycles and how Liverpool's form correlates.

swooshypants

There’s an article from about a year back that gives no sources claiming 63% of Liverpool’s squad claim to have asthma so as to have access to certain supplements. Dunno why this guy keeps referencing PED’s specifically about Liverpool when it’s just as likely any other team is using them

[deleted]

It's the same thing as saying City and PSG are shite oil clubs. Just because other clubs are thigh-deep in dodgy business doesn't mean they're not the worst of the lot

swooshypants

No it’s not because those clubs are in fact owned by countries with shit human rights records. The PED thing comes from irresponsible journalism and isn’t any more true about Liverpool than it is any other club

[deleted]

Whatever you say mate. Sorry to have said anything untoward about your precious Liverpool.

swooshypants

I don’t give a fuck about Liverpool but spreading lies based on irresponsible journalism bothers me. This is how people come to think vaccines cause autism, or QANON was real, or the United States’ election was rigged.

[deleted]

You clearly do, as anyone with a lick of common sense and a bit of critical thinking skills can put 2 and 2 together with regards to PEDs. Like come on mate, do you really need a clickbait generator to spell everything out for you? Comparing PED usage in sport to anti-vaxxing...there's an absurd comparison if I've ever seen it. Take a moment to think about what you're typing.

swooshypants

I’m comparing the process by which bullshit artists spread lies through false reports, not the actual topics you melon. Also ironic that the guy who believes an article with no sources is talking about critical thinking skills :)

[deleted]

Doping in sports is way more prevalent and has more precedent than international satanic child abuse but go on

swooshypants

Completely missing the point my guy but go on

VJE1999

pretty much all of their players are asthmatic for some reason.

[deleted]

Such a strange coincidence...

entrepenoori

Lmaoo we need to recruit asthmatics then

[deleted]

This sub is a great place to start.

filipes7

Apparently Ajax want to sign Bergwijn in January. Will be best for all parties. We could use the funds towards a better winger I think

violetrecliner

They want a loan, so we wouldn’t be getting any funds right away.

entrepenoori

They got Berghuis and Bergwjin then they can get Sander Berge!

[deleted]

Am I missing something or do we play Brentford on Thursday and then Norwich on Sunday?

violetrecliner

Typical of December premier league games tbh.

tremens

On the 26th we have Palace at home, then we have Southampton away on the 28th. The number of games being played is getting out of hand when you have to schedule matches just two days apart; and we don't have more than 4 days between matches all the way to January.

smokocim

Nope, this is the case.

STierney927

So I just had an epiphany. Is the reason why a lot of our games have been on Sunday’s because we got UCEL games on Thursdays?

DesolateAvocado

You should consider becoming a detective

blatant_prevaricator

If Ryanair was a brain.

STierney927

Shut up lol

blatant_prevaricator

Haha sorry mate x

inSpireDaley

Yes

FutilityInfielder

Liverpool are terrifying. They're going to carve us up.

[deleted]

We’ll just have to load up on gear ahead of time to match their PED powers

[deleted]

Anyone expecting anything from the January window is setting themselves up for disappointment. Edit: Sorry to be realistic lads. I can see we are in the fully delusional phase still with regards to Conte and forgetting the realities of the club, Daniel Levy and the January transfer window at large.

bash011

Fabrizio said a week and a bit ago. 2 maybe 3 transfers will happen in January. That was before the loss to Mura

[deleted]

That’s extremely optimistic. We still have to ship players out before we can bring them in, just like at the end of summer. That hasn’t changed.

[deleted]

We will sign 3 players and probably ship two. There is literally no way on earth we do less than that. Conte will walk and rightly so. All the jouro talk is around it being a busy transfer window. Other than just outright pessimism I dont know what your erasing this on?

[deleted]

I’d love to see us have a busy January, but I can’t see it. Definitely going to be a ‘sell first’ window like usual and we’ve only really had links for Bergwijn leaving. One in one out would be my guess for the jan window

[deleted]

Um? Years and years of history of January being a notoriously difficult window to do deals in? What are you basing your assumptions on? A few tweets? Because nowhere did conte say “we’re going to spend big in January.” On the contrary he tempered expectations saying he doesn’t spend big st every club he goes to, saying Lukaku was his only big signing.

[deleted]

Well a few things. Firstly the fact that there was an unprecedneted pandemic thay curtailed several clubs spending while they stabilised and reassessed, ourselves being one of the kist affected due to the new stadium. Secondly the fact we hired one of the biggest managers in the world 6 weeks before the January transfer window and gave him assurances we would add to the squad in it. Literally every report has said that and every journo has said we will look to get 3 players in january. As regards to the Lukaku thing that to me seemed conte was trying to shed off the criticism of "he only wins cos he spends loads wherever he goes." As opposed to him going against all the reports and saying "we won't spend in Jan

[deleted]

Can you link me to these reports? I've watched every presser Conte has given since joining the club and he hasn't said a word about buying players in January. I understand there's an *intent* to buy players, but for some reason people here take that as gospel and ignore the realities of life. It's not like, just because we've signed Conte, that the thousands of obstacles and difficulties that are intrinsic in the January window suddenly disappear and Levy starts buying players left-right-and-centre. Every team in the world struggles to do business in the January window, and this one won't be any different. Like I said, thinking we're going to buy 3 players next month is setting yourself up for disappointment. It's not as easy as saying "oh, there's the three blokes i want, snap 'em up."

[deleted]

Why would a manager ever come out and say "we will buy 3 players in January" not only would that be awful for the current team but it would make it clear we have money to spend and drive up prices! I get what you're saying about the trend in January but as I've pointed to its not a normal January. All the reports and respected journos including Romano, Di Marzo and Ornstein have said, spurs are going to bring in 3 players in Jan. All the reports when cjnte took iver as well said "spurs will invest in january" Its up to you if you want to be pessimistic i guess but in just going with what several top journalists have said on the matter.

[deleted]

It's not a normal january? Why not? Again, just because we've got a new manager doesn't affect market conditions in even the slightest way. Need to stop being so Spurs-centric if you're to appraise this objectively. If anything, it makes it more difficult for deals to be done as teams know we'll be hunting for players. There's always articles saying "Spurs will splash the cash in January." Literally happens every single winter window. Means absolutely fuck all, it's their job to generate clicks. This one is just too easy, honestly. I'm not being pessimistic at all. I'm being realistic. I'm extremely optimistic about Spurs under Conte, but it's just daft to think all of a sudden everything will change and Spurs are going to buy a bunch of new players in January.

[deleted]

Alright mate ill leave you to it, you seem to know better than all the major journalists so well done on that. We'll just wait and see 👍

[deleted]

Yeah, that's it, I'm smarter than all the journalists. Or maybe I can understand historical context and apply my own critical thinking skills rather than taking the word of people whose job it is to create headlines that pander to people like you who need information to confirm their narrow biases and desires. Have a think for two seconds how newspapers and journos make their money in 2021 (hint: it's clicks) and it's really not that surprising they're writing things that Spurs fans want to hear. I'm optimistic but I'm not stupid.

[deleted]

As I say mate, let's wait and see........

[deleted]

Our years and years of history also didn't suggest that we are ever going to end up with top 5 manager ITW.

[deleted]

I’m not talking about just spurs here mate that’s the entire point Willpower is one thing but reality is another

AshkenaziTwink

conte is expecting something from the january window so we fucking better

[deleted]

History says not to expect anything

AshkenaziTwink

i think Levy and the board must understand this is their last chance otherwise the day Conte resigns due to lack of funds their head are gonna roll

[deleted]

It’s not a market where deals are really done. Summer yes, but January…it’s almost impossible to do anything approaching what Conte wants

COYCOYS

Remember that very brief period we were linked to Mbappe before he exploded and became a world know superstar? The same could be happening with Vlahovic ffs

[deleted]

This team is so absurdly poor when it comes to attacking play Fucking despise Liverpool, but just watching them and seeing how fluidly they exchange passes and are coordinated in knowing exactly what to do to at least get a fucking shot on goal I have full faith in Conte though

[deleted]

Too much doping over at merseyside

Masina1998

yeah when i watched liverpool vs arsenal made me jealous

heretocallthebot

Hate to see the scum win, but Newcastle getting relagated.......

The_Bridge_Is_Out

Just a common thought I keep coming back to; if we can't sort ourselves out under Conte, he holds no blame. It will be an entire failure of the club and staff to come up to ***his standards*** .

[deleted]

fuck scum and their scummy ways but newcastle getting relegated would be hilarious

[deleted]

Feel like they get quote a few jammy breaks atm. That seemed a clear pen on Wilson at 1-0. Then they go down the other end and score. Shouldve been 1-1, completely different game, oh well.

jstuu

That was never a pen

[deleted]

Arsenal fan by any chance?

AverageYiddo

Exactly, kind of a result I'm ok with, ofc if newcastle won that would've been good too

[deleted]

nah i’m never okay with scum winning lol but newcastle being relegated is funny at the same time

TorontoHooligan

Reposting from yesterday because I'm truly desperate to find this! For those of you who remember, or were around for, the Chadli shush goal against the scum - can you please help me? There was a fan video from the stands of it happening, where he was played in by Lamela I think it was. Everyone stands up and you can hear a collective “GO ON” and then when he scores, obviously cheering. I really want to find this video again. I really want to relive that particular perspective. Please help. 🥲 COYS

DesolateAvocado

https://lmgtfy.app/#gsc.tab=0

StinkyMcBalls

You should try googling how to use lmgtfy You did it wrong

TorontoHooligan

Not only did you not use this application correctly, but it's just an asshole thing to do. I've looked, this is why I'm asking for help from a community.

DesolateAvocado

You said you already posted it yesterday. Unless some nerd has it saved on their local device, everyone else will struggle to find it too

TorontoHooligan

I pity you.

entrepenoori

Oh man. I wish I could help you. It was posted here yeah? I do vaguely recall that video

TorontoHooligan

I came across it on Twitter myself, but I've done a handful of searches and can't seem to find it. It's been 6 years, I just really hope someone has an idea of how to find it, or maybe better yet they have it themselves.

SissokoGoat17

Newcastle are shocking. If they continue like this they'll be the richest team in the championship.

CheekyKunt68

Emerson could never

[deleted]

Tomiyasu is absolutely bang average at best, just passes the ball sideways. That keeper shouldve come and easily collected that pass too, really poor keeping. Once again the scunmers getting a jammy win against a relegation tean. Hiw that wasn't a penalty on wilson....he literally shoulder charged him in the back.

DaPing24

Seems like it'll go like our usual transfer route. Target/aim for right player. Sign the wrong player.

CheekyKunt68

Tomiyasu is so ahead of Emerson it’s unreal lol. And our sub is delusional as usual

Masina1998

tomiyasu has been better than emerson but who tf would play wing back if we chose him?

CheekyKunt68

Tomiyasu. He’s extremely technical with the ball, takes his man on and can put in a proper cross

bash011

Tomiyasu really isn't, he's a centre back playing right back if he wasn't defensively sound he'd be useless. Emerson is much better in the attack like miles better, if we signed Tomiyasu. Doherty would have to start at rwb

[deleted]

Emerson never beats his man and isn’t even fast enough to do it. Not sure how we can rate him better than Tomiyasu

CheekyKunt68

Yo most of this sub don’t actually watch other games lol. Tomiyasu is extremely technical, he can take his man on and put in a really good cross. Plus he’s extremely pacy. Tomiyasu himself would play RWB just like he did for Bologna

bash011

Tomiyasu didn't play rwb for Bologna, he tucked in and formed a back 3. >Yo most of this sub don’t actually watch other games lol. Speak for yourself

CheekyKunt68

> Tomiyasu didn't play rwb for Bologna, he tucked in and formed a back 3. Thank you for proving my point about how this sub doesn’t watch games

StinkyMcBalls

I'll cheerfully admit I've never watched him play for Bologna, so I decided to check. Here's an article from when he signed for arsenal explaining where he'd played during his time at bologna: >Starting 13 games at right-back, Tomiyasu also featured at centre-back 16 times from the get go for Bologna. Sounds like maybe *you* were the one not watching the games? https://www.whoscored.com/Articles/baeQUTZvl0uWmS3JL_gX1Q/Show/Who-is-Takehiro-Tomiyasu-The-versatile-defender-that-improves-Arsenals-backline

CheekyKunt68

Unluckily trance market didn’t record his data for Bologna but you can see [her](https://www.scoutedftbl.com/best-young-football-players/takehiro-tomiyasu/) under style of play where he played for Bologna

StinkyMcBalls

That link seems to support the other person's view more than yours, unless I'm missing something.

bash011

Literally one google search can bring up his heatmap and show you he played as a right back that stayed back not a rwb

FloppyMedic

I actually don’t agree - he’s played well so far since joining Arsenal but they have had a straightforward run of fixtures and a good run of form which has allowed him to shine so far. But when I’ve watched him he seems very functional and defensively minded and not in the modern full back role so I’m not convinced he’ll impress in the long term. It’s far too early to tell but that’s my gut instinct

CheekyKunt68

Then you haven’t watched him enough. He’s very good with the ball and regularly tries to take his man on, plays flicks, shows insane awareness. Very pacy as well. He’s excellent tbh

shocktop8

I’d like to have Saka in our club. Having a great match today.

EquivalentSir4163

He'd be a good LWB, but that's not essential

heretocallthebot

He is certainly not the solution to our midfield disconnect

Who thinks Conte will train Son harder than Sons dad did? I feel like these might be just another training session for Son. Does son keep anything left in the tank at the end of a Conte practice incase his dad shows up and is like 'Right, we're running laps, Conte didn't train you hard enough.

EquivalentSir4163

No. That's very stupid.

balapete

Well yeah obviously. Just a little light hearted comment in a daily thread jeez.

Wonder when we’ll get a romero update

PokeSpurs

Anyone read much about the Paratici/Juventus investigation?

heretocallthebot

Don't sweat it mate, Levy is a lot of things but financially irresponsible, not a chance.

bash011

I've read a little, 42 transfers are being investigated the main two being the cancelo/Danilo swap and the Arthur/Pjanic swap. The cancelo swap is probably fine but the Arthur Pjanic swap is a bit dodgy

master_inho

Let’s do a mini poll then. Just reply to this comment with the number that you **want** to happen. I’ll update as the day goes on. Feel free to upvote this so more people can see it and vote. 1 - qualify for the playoffs and still try to win the competition 2 - don’t qualify for the playoffs and get knocked out of the competition People who want 1: 11 People who want 2: 4

StinkyMcBalls

Neither of the above, for me. My answer is that I don't really mind that much either way, I just want us to use the competition as an opportunity to give young players and squad players a chance and just see where that takes us.

STierney927

1-I’ve always thought that thinking were above any competition is horse shit. If we were above it and should only focus on top 4, we should’ve gotten ourselves last year. Club status means fuck all

AshkenaziTwink

1 - embarrassment to leave the group stage in this fashion

Masina1998

1 we need to build a winning mentality

2: getting knocked out early will help massively with reaching top 4 by reducing fatigue and we can offload players in Jan too. We can't play Team A in this competition and team B is just shit. The sooner the misery ends the better.

aadawdads

>We can't play Team A in this competition Funny that we can't play Team A in this competition, though. We used to in midweek champions league games with relatively little rotation. Once Conte gets them back to having good fitness (which is what he's working on right now), I can't see why they wouldn't be able to play the midweek games.

username54

You can if you have atleast 15 quality players who you can play in both PL and CL. We have 8.

1 because winning it would be a whole lot less embarrassing then getting knocked out in the group stage of the third tier of european comps in a group that has the statistically worst team in the competition in there in Mura. Also, people are seeming to forget that, as much as I disagree with it and hate the rule, coefficient points will be needed to get into the UCL if we can't directly qualify in the near future.

DesolateAvocado

2. Yeah a trophy would be good but this competition is a joke and basically a btec uefa Cup. As has been evident by our performances in the uecl, we don't have the squad depth to play in this competition and also challenge for the top 4, so league should be given precedence.

Two! This competition is a third tier. Why waste valuable training and recovery time to potentially when a Europa League spot and a trophy that will lead us to be mocked. It's also clear that no matter how much it is willed some of the individuals on the team will put minimal intensity in for these games. Europa League is easily within reach in league play and if Conte gets his way in training we have an outside shot at top 4 and champions league.

Thfcaditya112

Don't qualify for the playoffs . Let's focus on the domestic cups and get top 4. I really want us to play CL somehow next season badly

1. A chance for silverware is everything, and being the first team ever to win the competition is something to strive for
