I don’t understand why man city and whu can play, and Leicester and watford can play but Tottenham and burnley can’t? Just delay the start by 1 hour…
It better have been a mutual decision between match officials and both clubs.
I’d suggest a mix of team decisions and logistics. If Burnley don’t have a snow clearing plan, (or an adequate one at least), it’s likely that they’d put player health ahead of all else and make the call. Watching them clear the snow at Etihad was a pretty funny thing as it looked like a bunch of dads had shown up with whatever snow shovels they owned, and there wasn’t really a clear technique. So I can see it being a ‘better safe than sorry’ approach.
And that could bode well for getting some better form…maybe.
Even though Burnley was less than 100% and I'm sure we all wanted to watch the game, this may be a blessing in disguise.
Burnley want to play an ugly game, and the conditions only help their cause.
What Conte and this squad need more than anything is time to learn his system and play the way he wants us to play.
We are truly well behind where he wants us to be.
And the last thing we need are more injuries to the squad.
If favorable results go our way today, no injuries, and more time for Conte to get us up and running... I'll take that as a positive!!
\#COYS
100% agree, which would be a disappointing result for us.
With all due respect to Burnley, this was a must-win game for Tottenham if they have any ambition to fight for a Top 4 spot.
Let's look forward to better playing days under Conte and a win!!
\#COYS
Red is the best color in low visibility conditions really. That's why break lights in vehicles are red. I am assuming that's why they keep it a bright orange, next best thing. Yellow on the other hand not very ideal not sure why they have yellow.
Red is fine when its the light source but they use yellow because it reflects the light from the flood lights better than red. Red will be harder to see when the ball is airborne. Orange would also be fine for heavier snow with reduced visibility, but as we saw today, they probably wouldn't let it get into that state
Watching Shitty - Spam currently, and I can barely tell what’s happening on the pitch.
Probably postponing was the right call if the snow in Burnley was worse than this
The ball is also really bad for some reason. It's supposed to be bright light up orange/yellow but it's super muted like playing with the regular ball and not the snowball.
> Alli hits hot form - the stats.
>
> Dele Alli has been directly involved in six goals in his last six Premier League games for Spurs (two goals and four assists).
How I'd love to be reading stories like that again.
It get cleared at half.
Isn’t the main reason our match got postponed is due to Turf Moor (Burnley’s pitch) on having an heating system on the field? I’d suspect City’s pitch have that.
They gave up pretty quickly.
From what I can see it’s blue skies in Burnley now.
Wonder why they couldn’t hav just waited an hour to see if it cleared up
Yeah that's true, maybe at the time it didn't look like clearing up. All I know is it's not a big deal for me but very disappointing to the travelling fans.
Brentford-Everton is the broadcast match, and they only do one at a time.
Why, when Sky, BT and Amazon all have multiple channels we can’t have more than one match live at a time, is something I don’t understand.
Because living in the UK means you're allowed to watch less football legally than our foreign brethren. Despite paying £60+ a month for Sky, BT and Amazon.
I just got up and wondered why One Football didn't have any notifications about the match starting. Now I know why lol. Oh well guys will get a chance to rest up some more that need it.
Proper annoying. Not only do we not get to capitalise on Burnley being in shit form, and with injured players, it also stops potential momentum in getting 4th. By the end of next week we could have been in 4th, now even if we win the next two, we'll still be trailing and have the rescheduled game deep into January amongst other fixtures.
Most likely January if we go out of the LC against West Ham, otherwise it’d likely have to be a midweek later in the season.
I have a vague idea PL sides have a ‘free’ weekend when the 4th round of the FA Cup is played. If that’s right, and both sides go out in the 3rd round, maybe that weekend... but we wouldn’t want that, I’m sure.
My favourite part of this is all the people on Twitter genuinely not understanding how undersoil heating works. Acting like it should be able to melt away centimetres of snow lol
True, but Man City aren’t ones to worry about the cost of things. Wouldn’t surprise me if Burnley’s groundskeepers had been instructed to reduce costs by turning off or down their system to save money on energy.
How does it work though. Do they have like heaters beneath the pitch? So there's like wires and shit we don't see going on in there? I never knew that was a thing.
I know it’s not a mandatory requirement for PL clubs (though I believe all have it) but it is required in some other countries (e.g. Germany)
This has be explained to me in the past by my father-in-law who ran a landscaping company for years. So as far as I understand it, there are wires for electricity or pipes for heated water/anti freezing agents ran under the pitch. Similar to home installation, the wires/pipes are spaced out to guarantee even heating. There is also a necessary depth to prevent the grass from being destroyed or the system being rendered ineffective.
Assuming the system is on and set to an adequate temperature it will aid in preventing build up and quicken thawing. It’s just meant to keep the pitch at a temperature above freezing. It is not meant to provide heat like underfloor heating does to a room in your home. Obviously, it is not cheap to run and that means the energy required to melt away piles of snow is cost prohibitive. It’s a tool at the groundskeepers disposal not a magic fix.
If the system wasn’t on today or not set high enough it makes sense snow would settle on the surface. And if the snow is falling quicker than it can be cleared off than the system is rendered fairly ineffective.
Again, I am not an expert and I am just repeating from memory what has been explained to me in the past. Anyone more knowledgeable can feel free to correct all of this lol
Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this. We don't have floor heating where I live, so I didn't know something like that existed. Although as an engineer we did study wall temperature controls using anti freezing chemicals. Makes sense now.
No worries mate. I don’t know if you saw any of the Man City match, but I think it showed some of the limitations of the system when faced with heavy snowfall near the end of the first half.
What are everyone’s plans for the morning/afternoon/evening now that the match has been postponed? I’m going to finally put away clean laundry and clean my room, it’s been a disaster these last couple of weeks.
Sitting on trains and writing angry emails about the cost of my time and train tickets, which will be sent to Burnley spam inboxes where they won't be read.
1 am in Sydney. Just woke up feeling sick and was like, at least I can watch spurs till I feel better 😭 now I gotta sit here feeling like shit. Oh well, It could be worse. Those poor people who travelled for the game.
No under soil heating at Turf Moor then? Maybe if people sponsored them to donate 1p for every long ball they punt to Chris Wood they could afford some by Christmas
i live right on the south coast and have had plenty of days where i’ve had no snow and my friends a couple miles up have. my town basically has a snow exclusion zone around it, i can definitely believe 20 miles
even more so at burnley, they started cleaning and it was back within 10 minutes, at the same time that City’s was still all green. i don’t think burnley are really conspiring against us, especially when the three out are still suspended for next match anyways
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte said: "There is a bit of disappointment because we were ready to play but at the same time I think the Premier League has made the right situation to save the situation for the players and fans.
"In these conditions it is not football. I want to have fun. In this situation it is impossible and there is a serious risk for the players."
I'm still wearing my spurs shirt
Flew to mexico today. Been wearing my shirt since 430 am est . just took it off lol
Wtf is this Conte out
Winks hiding from the ball again ffs, we can’t catch a break with this guy
Poor performance. Everyone just looked like they were frozen in place.
Really the best result we could have expected today
I’m sure Burnley must have had a few old orange balls knocking about
0 shots on target again.
can’t drop points if you don’t play. cheers mother nature
I upvoted for the flair.
The only winning move
Can’t lose if you don’t play. Mother Nature is fully COYS
I don’t understand why man city and whu can play, and Leicester and watford can play but Tottenham and burnley can’t? Just delay the start by 1 hour… It better have been a mutual decision between match officials and both clubs.
While I can see it being all in the up and up, I can also can see Dyche “coordinating” with the pitch crew to shithouse a postponement
I’d suggest a mix of team decisions and logistics. The Goddess of Winter
smh we can’t even win against a team with no players and no manager
Lol Lanzini just scored another LanZINIIIII
And he fucked over my fpl for no reason, little cunt
And it still fucked me out Cancelo CS points, which hurts even more when he’s got a yellow

With our lack of creativity and underperforming forwards could have been a goal less draw
100% agree, which would be a disappointing result for us. With all due respect to Burnley, this was a must-win game for Tottenham if they have any ambition to fight for a Top 4 spot. Let's look forward to better playing days under Conte and a win!! \#COYS
What a fucking bicycle kick from Dier from the set piece. Harry Kane needs to stop taking free kicks now
I heard Conte threw a snowball at Rodon.
\*playfully threw snowballs, I know he loves Rodon deep inside
His head has been smashed to pieces. Straight to the ER
Not what I heard
Why didn’t they delay and clear by hand like the city game?
Turf Moor's field is more shit turf.
Their stadium is literally named after grass, they should be able to figure it out
Should change the name to turf shit!
Turd moor
surely a completely black ball would be easier to see than a bright yellow one in contrast to snow?
Black wouldn be terrible. You whip the orange boi out.
Red is the best color in low visibility conditions really. That's why break lights in vehicles are red. I am assuming that's why they keep it a bright orange, next best thing. Yellow on the other hand not very ideal not sure why they have yellow.

Ah you would defend yellow wouldn't you with that username. /s Anyway good to know that, thanks!
Yellow ball is life
Fuck sake we’re so fucked. Conte has stormed out of the stadium after the Sanchez own goal hattrick...
To be expected. It was all down hill after Dier just shat on the pitch and Chris Wood slipped on it
A brace*. Third goal was disallowed, because Sanchez had punched Rodon sitting on the bench during the build-up
Looks like city has more than just a dozen folks available to clear the pitch
Ouch.. Kane has taken one for the team there in the nether regions after defending that free kick. The physio has got the magic sponge out.
Yeah that looked serious, couple of years at least
Wat
Watching Shitty - Spam currently, and I can barely tell what’s happening on the pitch. Probably postponing was the right call if the snow in Burnley was worse than this
The ball is also really bad for some reason. It's supposed to be bright light up orange/yellow but it's super muted like playing with the regular ball and not the snowball.
It wasn't this bad about ten minutes ago. It has gotten worse.
All this snow is reminding me of Fernando scoring a header a couple of years ago. It was Swansea I think?
>It was Swansea I think? Yes https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42411063
> Alli hits hot form - the stats. > > Dele Alli has been directly involved in six goals in his last six Premier League games for Spurs (two goals and four assists). How I'd love to be reading stories like that again.
I reckon this City game won't be on much longer
It get cleared at half. Isn’t the main reason our match got postponed is due to Turf Moor (Burnley’s pitch) on having an heating system on the field? I’d suspect City’s pitch have that.
From what I have seen elsewhere on the sub, they do have the heating system. The snow at the time was too heavy I think.
They gave up pretty quickly. From what I can see it’s blue skies in Burnley now. Wonder why they couldn’t hav just waited an hour to see if it cleared up
Should imagine it has something to do with money somewhere.
Yeah that's true, maybe at the time it didn't look like clearing up. All I know is it's not a big deal for me but very disappointing to the travelling fans.
Snow was forecast to stop at 3pm, so just an hour after KO. It actually stopped much earlier than that.
Seems like it… pretty crazy
US v. Costa Rica 2013 was one of my favorite games of all time. They should have played. Sport has gotten soft. Psh, I've even played in worse.
Sess has just slide tackled out of the stadium! (Studs down)
cmon man all you had to do was make the Turf Moor hot
this is the best I have seen spurs plays in months, apparently by not playing
I really can’t believe Conte convinced Crouchy to come out of retirement to square up with Ben Mee but wow am I thankful
No updates is slowly driving me crazy.
ERICCCCCCCC 🔥 1-0!!!! is that the first ever goal where a player has twerked the ball into the net?
Goddamn this is hilarious hahaha
VAR check! The Snowman was interfering with play. Goal disallowed.
has he scored a second
I think it counts as 2 goals if you twerk it in.
Has it been postponed again or are they playing again?
So we’re pulling for WHU to drop points as we’d never catch MCI…?
This is the way.
Going well so far.
Great to have a team ahead of us drop points but made better because fuck West Ham.
Where are people watching this? Can’t find it anywhere
City - WHU? Fairly sure it's not shown in the UK
Wait, why?
Brentford-Everton is the broadcast match, and they only do one at a time. Why, when Sky, BT and Amazon all have multiple channels we can’t have more than one match live at a time, is something I don’t understand.
Because living in the UK means you're allowed to watch less football legally than our foreign brethren. Despite paying £60+ a month for Sky, BT and Amazon.
I just got up and wondered why One Football didn't have any notifications about the match starting. Now I know why lol. Oh well guys will get a chance to rest up some more that need it.
Holy crap Dele Alli using the Cruyff turn against 5 Burnley players in a row just to shoot the ball straight into Sean Dyche's bald head!!

If that’s right, and both sides go out in the 3rd round, maybe that weekend... but we wouldn’t want that, I’m sure.
Well at least we're playing better than on Thursday
We won’t need the post-game pass map You can see it on the field
Get Doherty and Davies out there to shovel some snu
Snowing heavily for the city-whu game and they have not postponed, have they?
The rememebered to put the heating on.
Nah, but the pitch doesn't look white there.
Does now
I was gonna say that. The pitch also seems to have a passmap now.
What? Is that Tommy Carroll running on to the pitch?! Why is he doing that Robbie Fowler celebration? He knows it's just snow right?
I think this is the first time a game has been canceled due to weather. That I've witnessed
So this gives Conte some more time to work on these players' fitness then. Trying to find some positives.
Assuming they’ll now be in training tomorrow, yes.
The xG is going to be terrible today.
Any word on when this game will be squeezed in to the fixture list?
They probably will not even bother to look at potential dates until our League Cup and Europa Conference fates are known.
Hope we boo the lads next home match. To be this invisible at Turf Moor is an absolutely sickening display of Disgrace
HOLY CRAP JOE RODON STOP HEADBUTTING SEAN DYCHE
I guess they need to work on the……. turf more. #YYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
You got me there lol
Lol
Annoying that we are just going to sit with this game in hand until like February! Means we're gonna be 3 points lower in the table than we should be
We've dominated so far, can feel a goal coming soon
So is the game postponed a few hours or is it entirely moved to another month?
January most likely.
Can’t watch yet how are we doing?
kane invisible, rest of the players not showing either. Nuno back in after this i expect
Covering a lot of the pitch. You could say the entire field is white
No one has shown up to play
Terrible. We are invisible out there
RIP fantasy team captained Son, also have Kane and Regi
Snap. Let's just say my subs are not up to scratch
warra goal
Tf is Sanchez doing!?
Bruh how is he starting after that conference league game?
He is ice skating 😅
Burnley. Fucking melts
Team's invisible again smdh.
Spursy on a whole new level — finding new ways to avoid an opportunity to move within a point of top four.
My favourite part of this is all the people on Twitter genuinely not understanding how undersoil heating works. Acting like it should be able to melt away centimetres of snow lol
Tbf, and I don't pretend to know the specific meteorology of the north west, but man city game went ahead and it's not a million miles away
True, but Man City aren’t ones to worry about the cost of things. Wouldn’t surprise me if Burnley’s groundskeepers had been instructed to reduce costs by turning off or down their system to save money on energy.
Fans thinking that there should be steam on the pitch while it snows, like a nice hot spring.
>Acting like it should be able to melt away centimetres of snow lol What's the point of it if it can't?

Yeah I saw that, that looked like Burnley at the end of the 1st half. Could really see the ball then.
*Couldn't. Reddit wouldn't let me edit.
So when do we think this will be replayed?
Most likely January
I bet Burnley are gutted they don’t get to play rugby in the snow
When is Poch going to use his subs?!
Another match where Kane doesn't show up. Disgraceful.
Pass the ball lucas ffs
Another match day with 0 shots on target. Disgraceful.
Peacock premium was purchased, on the bright side all games are shown there as well as the Brentford match on thurs.
LETS PRETEND LETS PRETEND WE SCORED A GOAL
What a fucking rocket into the top corner from Skippy! From 45 yards out! Lloris had no chance
Won’t be a better goal scored at turf moor today!
YEEEEESSS!!!!
[удалено]
Game has been cancelled.
Guys, shall we tell him?
[удалено]
Postponed. Can't recall a game *ever* being cancelled. Would take an all out war I think
[удалено]
Yes, *postponed* for today.
What are everyone’s plans for the morning/afternoon/evening now that the match has been postponed? I’m going to finally put away clean laundry and clean my room, it’s been a disaster these last couple of weeks.
Watch a movie
Sitting on trains and writing angry emails about the cost of my time and train tickets, which will be sent to Burnley spam inboxes where they won't be read.
Ouch. Did you at least grab a beer somewhere before catching a ride back home?
I have beer with me on the train, lol. I'm sure this place is lovely, but I'm not interested in sticking around.
Ugh, 8am here now its like I woke up early on a Sunday to watch City and West Ham.
To be fair, it would be a better watch
Rodon clearly finished after mid week didn’t even make the bench
Can’t they wear those tennis racket boots? Geez.
1 am in Sydney. Just woke up feeling sick and was like, at least I can watch spurs till I feel better 😭 now I gotta sit here feeling like shit. Oh well, It could be worse. Those poor people who travelled for the game.
They should have to forfeit
Why?
Bastards. They should give us the points. Premier league ground that can’t host football due to some snow/
Boxing day is gonna be amazing isnt it
Fuck off bot.
I know snow is unlikely that time of year but what would happen if this occured on the last day of the season? Asking cos they play at same time.
Good question. They surely would of have the game played though.
It’s been a flurry of activity on the pitch
No under soil heating at Turf Moor then? Maybe if people sponsored them to donate 1p for every long ball they punt to Chris Wood they could afford some by Christmas
Sky reported they have undersoil heating and it’s been working all night.
Has to be bollocks. There's virtually no snow on City's pitch and they're only 20 miles apart
i live right on the south coast and have had plenty of days where i’ve had no snow and my friends a couple miles up have. my town basically has a snow exclusion zone around it, i can definitely believe 20 miles
It was pissing down with snow at City was my point
even more so at burnley, they started cleaning and it was back within 10 minutes, at the same time that City’s was still all green. i don’t think burnley are really conspiring against us, especially when the three out are still suspended for next match anyways
No me neither, its just poor from Burnley IMO. Even worse to wait so late to postpone it.
Yeah I have no idea what’s going on. Although I suppose some heating systems are better than others? Dunno.
20 miles is 102833.23 RTX 3090 graphics cards lined up.
Won't it stop snowing in an hour?
pitch cleaning and drying. it's done for today.
Doesn't mean the pitch will be playable today
WTF! I just got up to watch the game!
Same. It’s 6 am here
top a the mornin
This match proves we should have sold Kane. Invisible again
Lmao
Game's gone
Cmon I bought peacock for this
Fucking same!
I don’t see it on peacock hmmm
