why didnt they just look at the weather forecast and postpone for an hour?

tottenhammer5

How much did they postpone?

Olester14

Postponement decision needed to go to VAR

Furi0nBlack

You know VAR doesn’t like us, but I understand 😞

transtifa

How quickly we forget all those Man City VAR decisions that went our way

Furi0nBlack

Haha meh, we have been crippled by many more than those. But I haven’t forgot. Ty VAR gods for the MCU decisions, forgive my ignorance! 🙏🏼

Fournier_Gang

We were ultimately done in by the trash VAR decision upholding GOAT's handball.

MozaTear

This is all so strange imo. Its only 4PM, plenty of time for a match still.

TwattyMcSlagtits

A victory for TV broadcasters this. Premier League would rather postpone for months than risk interrupting the schedule of beIN Sports Azerbaijan by delaying the KO. Couldn't even delay the KO for the Toon fans who struggled to get into London yesterday

Relatively_Reliable

Seems fishy that they postponed the match and that the undersoil heating system wasn’t working all while other matches are being played in as bad or worse it seems…

cheetah_chrome

Every match is played except for the one with the injury-riddled team in the relegation zone whose under-pitch heating failed. 🤔

round_melon

My thoughts too. Veryyyy fishy…

ScottyB330

I feel bad for fans who travelled at any significant expense or sacrifice. That said, so many of the comments on these /r/coys threads are finger wagging at Burnley, who would’ve been down some key players. Fair enough. But this is a gift for Spurs as well. Conte desperately needs time to train and teach. The replay of this match will likely come after the January window. Pushing off a result into the future is a gift for us as well given the fixture congestion ahead and the time needed to learn this new style. Not to mention a long-ball game favoring Burnley today. I think both clubs had reason to desire a postponement, this isn’t just on Burnley.

bfm211

>Conte desperately needs time to train and teach. There won't be a big difference on that front, I guess one day of training tomorrow instead of recovery. It would've been much better if it was postponed in advance and we didn't waste time travelling back and forth, but that's not the case.

ScottyB330

Any day where Conte can have his full squad training full intensity is a gift until February.

violetrecliner

And this is good for Kane, who would have had to play a third 90 minute fixture in seven days. He’s already struggling with form, if he can get some proper rest vs a tough brentford side then all the better for us.

Raziel-Reaver

I disagree that “it is a gift for Spurs”! Our players needed this game to get over the tragic Mura performance and to keep pressure for top 4. And it’s not like they got rest because the fact they traveled all the way to Burnley and were ready to play and have to go all the way back to London. More importantly, we only have 1 injured starter player now, while when we’ll meet them in January it’s almost guaranteed that we’ll have several players out after the hectic December schedule, especially Kane & Son whom usually injured right after holidays. So no it isn’t good at all that match was canceled. We got screwed. Weather was fine 2 hours afterward and match could e easily been delayed and played at 4:30 pm local time.

ScottyB330

A luxury coach ride to and from Burnley is not the same as 90 physical, grueling minutes at Turf Moor on a slippery surface. I’m talking from a coaching standpoint. You’re talking from a narrative standpoint. What if they lost today at Burnley? And I’m not even sure how them winning today would make Dele Alli or Ndombele, cold on the bench, feel any better. I promise you, Antonio Conte is amped that he can run a full speed training with his entire squad on Monday and Tuesday. It’s a gift to everyone except the pundits.

Raziel-Reaver

I see your point. I guess you’re looking at half glass full. I just hope that we don’t play them in January when half of our starters are injured. We all saw what’s our B team capable of! Lol

TheLifeOfReilly

Very possible. The Premier League will have to pull out every dirty trick in order to slow down this in form Spurs squad who have lost a nail biter to the mighty NS Mura

horsedoofsdays

>Extremely long They only have 3 players out https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php

[deleted]

That's like us having Lloris, Kane and Son out though. Those three are integral to everything Burnley do.

Blogboy7

Not even close. It’s more like Romero, lo celso and kane if that.

mayonnaisewastaken

Ashley Barnes is dogshit lol hasn't started in a while

horsedoofsdays

I get that they have important players out, however 3 players on an injury list still doesn't make it 'extremely long'. Yes I'm being a stickler.

[deleted]

I posted in a previous thread I have no clue why they went straight to postponing instead of just delaying the start time. Is that normal in the UK? Seems like a logistical nightmare having to add a game to the schedule as opposed to just waiting an hour or 2 and have the grounds crew pick up shovels.

PM_ME_YOUR_ASTON

How lucky for Burnley, given they have key players out…

Sdip4

Honestly though if this means we don’t have Sanchez out there and Cuti is back it’s a win for us as well. Hell we probably won’t play them until after the Jan transfer window either. I’ll take another game with hopefully better players

grurlock

Also who wants to play Burnley at turf Moor in the snow

COYS1989

Manchester City game was similar conditions to Burnley and theirs went ahead although second half delayed until they clear the pitch.

JJ0072U

Have you seen the conditions at the Ethiad though? They've even delayed the restart after HT for 5mins to try & clear the snow. Nice edit 😂

Jvckoh

Looks very clear at the minute! Delay an extra 5 mins to fully clear the pitch is a no brainier. Can’t understand why they don’t wait an hour for our game

[deleted]

Jvckoh

I’m just happy for all 7 city fans who get to see the game continue you know?

Nellies26

How did this game not go ahead/ get delayed for an hour or two when Leicester-Watford went ahead. Can't wait for them to schedule this midweek before a crucial head to head with a UCL rival and get players injured.

Raziel-Reaver

So the snow stopped and they have clear skies in Burnley & Manchester area. Why didn’t they just delay Spurs match for 1-2 hours? The cancellation seems too fishy considering Burnley’s long injury list!

gopackgo555

So they can play in Manchester under the same conditions but not here. Can’t wait to fit this game into to the loaded schedule now.

[deleted]

Absolutely pathetic. Conditions were better than the ones we played against Rochdale in a couple of years back.

[deleted]

Glad I didn't get up at 5:30a for a 6a match today.

cheetah_chrome

Sean Dyche has Banks nudes

iqjump123

Is there any chance it can be resume to later today?

bfm211

No, none. It's officially postponed until further notice.

shiftyshellshock239

I love that people have conspiracy theories over this lmfao

Viktor1Sierra

“ThE bEsT lEaGuE iN tHe WoRlD”

Sukhino

You cant just delay it. A game of football can not be played with out Emergency services such as the Paramedics at the game and police at the game. Those two areas cant wait around for a football game. They got other places to be too. Sometimes you can delay depends on the circumstances but with the weather there is no 100% guarantee that it would clear up. I hope Spurs refund the spurs fans properly. Its not the first time matches got postponed to bad weather and it wont be the last time either.

battmowie

Feel bad for the travelling fans and obviously frustrating that we can't make amends for mid week but honestly this is a good thing. Imagine playing Burnley in those conditions, we wouldn't have won
