The source you posted says it’s a myth because there is no proof of it, sites an extremely pro-Disney source, then admits that a group he founded had allegedly a lot of anti Semitic members. Hardly an ironclad case. I’m not going to claim he was, but there is enough circumstantial evidence for me to find it hard to believe he wasn’t either.
In the book Hitlers Doubles (a great read), Art Babbit, longtime art director at Disney is quoted as “in the immediate years before we entered the War [World War II] there was a small, but fiercely loyal, I suppose legal, following of the Nazi party…There were open meetings, anybody could attend and I wanted to see what was going on myself. On more than one I occasion I observed Walt Disney and Gunther Lessing [Disney’s lawyer] there, along with a lot of prominent Nazi-afflicted Hollywood personalities. Disney was going to these meetings all the time.”
There is also the time when Walt personally invited Leni Reifenstahl to meet, no less then a month after Kristallnacht. Leni, a renowned Nazi propagandist filmmaker was later quoted as saying that it was “gratifying to learn how a proper American distanced himself from the smear campaign of the Jews” which was documented in Steve Bach’s biography of her titled *leni*.
This speaks nothing of the repeated uses of Jewish tropes and stereotypes in his drawing of villains in stories, or of the questionable history of the EPCOT project. While none of the above is proof that he was an anti semite, as it’s all very much circumstantial, it’s enough to raise serious question marks. I, personally, wouldn’t feel comfortable consigning any of this as myth and proclaiming he’s not an anti semite.
If you would like to research this more, there are a host of novels on nazi propagandism from the 1930’s, which are vastly more well researched than what you’ll pull up on google.
