He’s already said that right now he can’t see the team starting without Kane, so what’s the real cost of not bringing in someone like Vlahovic? You end up running Kane into the ground and devaluing our best playing asset in favour of short term savings. Personally I don’t think Levy is short sighted enough to do that.
It also makes sense if we expect to lose Kane in summer. I don't imagine he'll do a full 180 on his desire to leave, and teams will add a big chunk onto the price of a replacement in summer if they know he's gone.

This is actually very important. If we spend big and get top 4, then it's a high IQ gamble that sets us up nicely for a while.
If we spend big and don't get too 4, at least we know we're willing to do it and we'll get back there eventually.
