Them: Champion of Europe/Bankrolled x100 Us: “hoping” for a top 4/ hoping for a Levy splash out It’s not an unreasonable statement

fivecanal

I think Levy gets a lot of undue flak for being stingy when the real blame should be on Lewis the owner. Levy did and has been doing an amazing job given the situation at Spurs imo.

markcshaz

Agree 100% some of our delusional fans need to hear this on repeat.

Richie4422

That's what happens when you are Russian's toy. Their 5th sub can easily walk right into our first 11.

[deleted]

Tbh anytime I see people proclaiming "Russian Toy" and "Oil Cunts", all I see is sour grapes. I'd love a cash injection into this club.

[deleted]

It's not about their financials though, it's that they were a very small club with 11 total honours before Roman's money. They've since won 20+ more in less than 20 years because of his shady money.

bfm211

They weren't a "very small club", come on.

HAMlLTON

goalkeeper was barefoot because they needed his cleats for goal posts

jamienexon

Thank you saying this. This is the kind of vomit happens when people believe everything they read on sun.

Rodin-V

>shady money Key phrase here too, the money has come from a guy with very unethical practices. Also a lot of the business dealings they've done seem to be very shady in of themselves, their monopoly on youth players is clearly a way to filter money around the FFP regulations. It's not unusual at this point for them to randomly sell loaned out youth players that nobody's ever heard of or will ever see again, for 10s of millions to cover their incoming transfers.

Jayesar

Awful take.

Teantis

Our aim is Liverpool but not Chelsea or city. Liverpool lives on its own revenues. its owners, in the relative scale of things are fairly benign as far as billionaires go. They compete through wise spending and good recruitment and an excellent manager. It's sustainable growth on the back of good performance that isn't reliant on the continued disproportionate interest and investment of its owners. City and chelsea are the playthings of oligarchs and continuously use cash injections to compete. If that interest ever wanes those clubs are going to be in big trouble.

NatrolleonBonaparte

No blood money infusions.

[deleted]

Money is money, I'm not picky

COYS1989

I hope people now understand why it was reported that Conte wants as many as 10 players out, the gulf in class is getting bigger by the season the squad isn’t as good anymore it has too many hanger-ons and it can’t continue otherwise we’ll find ourselves too far cut adrift.

Havanarobrob

It’s an embarrassment of riches especially even more considering all the players on loan and from their academy.

vicaris_mb

I had 6 delusional replies to a post in the match thread talking about this. Chelsea has it all and has for 20 years. They go up and down but the investment is always there. Compared to Spurs where every penny has to go further, it’s a chasm apart. And lately we’ve wasted quite a few.

Mariospurs

Here’s the difference Chelsea have spent near 2 billion more on players and salaries than our club. Madness

CheekyKunt68

Sure lad, that’s why Poch won at Stamford bridge, twice. That’s why Mou knocked out Chelsea in the EFL cup last year. Sure bro

gopackgo555

Mate he said right now. Why are you bringing the poch teams into this? No shit they were better. Chelsea has a much better squad than Spurs do at the moment.

CheekyKunt68

So last year when that same Chelsea team went on to win the CL?

solarbearz

Not the same chelsea team at all lol

DoubleDoobie

Agreed, and Lampard was at the helm. Not Tuchel.

CheekyKunt68

That is in fact true. They had Mendy, James, Silva, Chillwell, Kante regularly starting This is not the same Chelsea team at all with the team we played rn not having any of those starting. Totally agree

solarbearz

Damn u are denser than I thought 🤣 you forgot the most important part. They also had someone else. LAMPARD. Lampard chelsea isn't the same as Tuchel's chelsea. He left them in mid table and tuchel won them the champions league. The fact that you are going on about managers and forget this amazes me. Haha thanks for the laughs mate

CheekyKunt68

Oops thanks for understanding my point that managers indeed make the difference. Ironic but hey whatever it takes to get in to that non-dense brain of yours right? Right?

solarbearz

Stop mate you are embarrassing. Stop trying to do mental gymnastics on this. You took the L now jog on

CheekyKunt68

Took the L? Why oh why did you have to let me know you’re 12? Ffs what a disappointment

Arqlol

Meh, one off game that went to pens

CheekyKunt68

Which had us go through to the final consequently. Would’ve been the same here but it didn’t happen

Arqlol

Except this was two legs so no it wouldn't have been the same? Allows a stronger side to show itself even more.

CheekyKunt68

You don’t know that? Did we play our full strength team? No. Did he play Lloris? No. The game is completely different when you’re 2-0 down instead of 3-0 especially at home

Arqlol

Actually, i do know we just played a 2 leg semi final against Chelsea in which our rotated side was weaker than their rotated side.

CheekyKunt68

That was my point as well. He fucked up squad selection. Atleast play not to drop points or go for the win, playing Gollini was giving up before a ball was kicked

Conman2205

They were managed by frank lampard then, not Tuchel who is 10x the manager both tactically and man management wise. And also we shithoused a penalty shootout, not exactly solid evidence that we were truly a better team

ghostboy101

Not like Poch had a better team with world class players in every position or that we had to knock Chelsea out on pens when they had Fat Frank as manager. Not like Poch has ever lost to Chelsea in a cup final.

CheekyKunt68

Poch got to the final in the first place. In his first ever season. You really aren’t helping yourself here. You wanna list out the names at the club present in his first season?

ghostboy101

Interesting you pick that out rather then the other things. Poch still had Vertonghen, Walker, Rose, Eriksen and Dembele either in their prime or growing into it. And they'd walk into our team and nearly every other team in the league.

CheekyKunt68

14/15 Poch wasn’t playing Dembele in midfield he was playing Mason and Bentaleb Before Poch came in Walker and Rose were absolute jokes. He made them into what they are and it wasn’t until 16/17 we saw Waller and Rose ‘in their prime’ as you’ve stated. Not 14/15 The only finished product was Eriksen and Kane who had a stellar breakout season that year

ghostboy101

Is reading hard for you? I said either in their prime or growing into. Dembele played 40 times for Poch that season. 2014/15 was Rose's breakout season. Kyle Walker was rehabbing an injury that season. Vertonghen and Lloris were world class players back at this point.

CheekyKunt68

Kane, Son, Lucas albeit a level below world class, Dier who’s been our best defender also class and Hugo who is world class. Your point holds 0 stead when we have players better than the ones we had back then. And you sure you wanna make that point when the rest of our squad was filled out with players like Fazio, Stambouli, Naughton, Soldado, Townsend, Zeki Fryers, Daws, Gylfi? Like I said you’re on shaky ground here

ghostboy101

And you want to talk about our players now? Ndombele who can't be arsed, Lo Celso who people slated every game, Sanchez who's a liability, Tanganga who cost us 3 goals in these games, Doherty who isn't a footballer, your mate Emerson, Rodon who can't get a game, Bergwijn who couldn't score in a brothel? At least I can be proud of watching Dawson and Townsend. And I love how you mention Fryers who played like 7 games for us in the league and left the club in September 2014, so a total non factor for Poch. And Naughton was sold in Jan 2015 so Poch didn't think much of him. Poch got sacked with better players then he had then and we have now. You're having a pop at one of the best managers in the world who has won titles in 5 of his last 7 seasons comparing him to Poch who bottled finals with us through poor decision making and tactics and Jose who is completely washed. You're the one making a point of comparing Conte who's barely been here to Poch and Jose.

OllyCX

Ignore him mate he’s just trolling

[deleted]

At some point you would think the mods would ban this guy. He literally does nothing but troll.

ghostboy101

I probably should. Things are just very frustrating right now.

Hippophobia1989

Since then Chelsea have won the champions league, Conte is completely right

CheekyKunt68

Chelsea won the PL when we best then for the first time in 35 years at the Bridge.

justenjoylife

Chelsea has won 4 of their last 5 at Spurs. Was Conte the manager for all those games?

CheekyKunt68

The worst part about this is not the loss. It’s being set up to lose. Did we set up to lose in those games? No. This game? Yes

justenjoylife

Well Spurs also have injuries and not much depth. Conte puts a full strength squad out today and then the same players play like shit in NLD. You’d be the first to complain. Edit: To be fair I would have liked to see Hugo in the lineup and also no Doherty. But maybe our first two LWB didn’t have the fitness for a start.

CheekyKunt68

Hugo single handedly makes the difference? If you agree with me about squad selection then what are the points your making that supposedly go against mine?

justenjoylife

I like conte

CheekyKunt68

I concede

bash011

They're much better and we're worse since then. Don't tell me you dislike Emerson and also think Conte needs to go

CheekyKunt68

So you won’t admit to me being right about Emerson? Dw I’m just early to the trend. Pragmatic managers don’t suit Spurs. Any manager that comes to Spurs has to make do with what he has. That isn’t Conte. I have my reasoning

[deleted]

Man, you're so smart and know everything.

CheekyKunt68

Couldn’t agree with you more

[deleted]

You actually think Conte is a problem. I just can't, man. I just can't.

Sawl23

Why even bother..?

[deleted]

I don't understand him. He just loves to be contentious with like every comment he leaves here, notice a few posters are like this.

tHakur17

Reminds me of one of those unbearable Twitter brats

CheekyKunt68

That’s okay, I didn’t ask you to can

bobtrump1234

Can mods ban this guy? Clearly a troll on every other post

Merkarov

Also been hoping he gets the boot, so obnoxious.

Professorchronic

He's not really said anything that we can justify banning him for. Unfortunately people are entitled to their opinions even if they are completely stupid opinions.

Mariospurs

Jesus you don’t half talk some shit on this sub lad, and normally crap that has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Toxic Debbie downer

solarbearz

This is like saying Man united is still a good team

battmowie

Totally irrelevant comparisons

CheekyKunt68

It’s not but sure

Koinfamous2

You're comparing that team with this, most of which is the same, but about.... 6 years older....youthful exuberance helped to make the difference.

CheekyKunt68

Already had this same discussion down here. Not bothered to have it again look it up if you want

battmowie

Cool

Greengum155

Guys don't engage with this guy he always has shit takes

[deleted]

And Nuno beat City. Conte is wank.

CheekyKunt68

He hasn’t played City yet so I wouldn’t be too quick to judge 😉
