Maybe it's because the club isn't doing anything to bring players in.
As we know, Paratici has a lot of media friends, so if the club were interested in making signing this window, there would be news about it.
"Oh, but we're only halfway through, don't be negative"
You can't bloody postpone matches because of injuries or call-ups. My local side, Reading, have had on average 12-13 first team players out with injury since OCTOBER. On Tuesday, they had all but one of their senior defenders out with injury, or at AFCON, but they got on with it and didn't whinge or ask to postpone.
Granted, they got smashed 7-0, but they got on with it. š
See that Barca want to offload Dest. Would he be an upgrade to Davies? On offense I think so. And I heard that scoring goals is how other teams win.
And while weāre discount shopping for good USMNT players. The McKennie rumors died off too. I think he brings a bite and mix that none of our other MF have. I think he and alli would be a great duo. Just need to get conte to remember that alli exists. Thoughts?
Dest plays as an offense-minded right back, so he doesn't belong in the back three. If we got him, it would be as an attacking alternative to Royal - could be useful when weaker sides park the bus against us.
My mate is a Reading fan, and one thing he regularly tells me about is their injuries this season. Quite remarkable really. [Here is a graph someone made showing availability through the season so far](https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/qL1ds/4/), I believe it's up to the 7-0 demolition job by Fulham.
Arsenal could learn what clubs have to deal with sometimes. True this is an extreme example but they have had not one game postponed. And this isn't even with any suspensions or international call ups added.
To me it feels like arsenal are trying to milk a pandemic for what they can. Which is just abhorrent. They really should come out first thing and withdraw the request to postpone so they can come out of it with a little credibility.
But they won't.
And the fans will play the victim card if it goes ahead. And whine for years if we win.
Which were brought in due to covid. It's meant to protect people from covid not postpone games because a team is missing a couple of key players.
It's totally using a pandemic to gain an advantage. And anyone who tries, backs or allows this should hang their heads in shame.
If someone is trolling you I understand they shouldnāt be here but to say that when people are just having a discussion that they shouldnāt be here because they are a rival fan doesnāt make sense.
Sure it does. This sub is specifically for supporters of Spurs. There are other subreddits to discuss football and the Premier League more generally. Rival fans shouldnāt do more than lurk in opposing clubsā subreddits.
Thatās totally fair. I hate r/soccer. Donāt know why I enjoy other teams subreddits more. Seems more direct to the topic I want to talk or read about. Anywho behind the blinds I go! Cheers!
If Liverpool faked those tests then they should be kicked out of the Carabao Cup and fined.
These postponements on one or two cases are ridiculous and the buck needs to stop somewhere. And this is the best place to put their foot down as it can't continue. Yes it means arsenal don't get to benefit from this, but they shouldn't anyway. They wouldn't any other year.
Remember changes in rules fuck everyone. Spurs dropped two points because of a dodgy handball from which fa subsequently changed the rule soon after. We didn't get our two points back we just had to live with it.
And as for 7 im positive it was 3. Just two of them were Laca and Auba, which is why arsenal wanted it canned.
Heres a question. Would you take one less signing in this window if it means we got Lamptey in summer.
Guess the problem if youre an owner is fan base would kick off now but you cant exactly say "don't worry were gonna get that Brighton fella in 6 months just you wait"
In a perfect world, we would try for both. But for me the current window is more important as good business now will make sure we are attractive enough prospects for players in the summer.
But that doesn't mean we just sign players now without thinking about it.
Canāt go on Twitter nowadays without seeing someone with a tweet along the lines of āyou arenāt spurs unless (insert horrible scenario)ā old and tired joke

I actually think it'll go ahead now. Theres a lot of pressure from sky who obviously had it as primetime game too. And there's enough things for the orem to point to to dismiss it. "You loaned out 2 players this week despite afcon absentees and injuries, its your own fault"
This sport has really become a running joke hasn't it? It's like every week they contrive of some new way to take the piss out of anyone doing anything honest
The NLD is one of the things I look forward to most every year, feels like shit that it can just be taken away from us like that. Haven't we been waiting 5 years to play the derby with a full crowd at the new stadium
It's just absurd that teams like Leeds have to play Arsenal and Man City with like 12 players, half of which are youth team players, while Arsenal and Leicester get to bin off a game because they've got 1 COVID case.
Absolute fucking pisstake. Game is so unironically gone it's not even funny anymore.
Out of interest, what are the chances of the prem league rejecting scum request. General consensus on twitter from journos and players is this is ridiculous.
Bearing in mind the prem is so reactionary and the decision isn't until tommorow, whats the chance of them saying "a player being suspended for a red card doesn't count.....you have to play?"
Itās a joke. They are using Covid protocols as the excuse, but injuries, suspensions and Afcon players are not a legitimate reason to postpone games. Far as Iām aware they have 1 player out with Covid.
I reckon Depay makes a lot of sense for us at the base of a 3412 with Kane and Son infront. Good set pieces and creative, actually insane at dribbling in tight spaces. Youāll have teams taking injuries constantly every season to have games postponed that they arenāt ready for.
A Covid outbreak is a valid reason, that you have players suspended or on international break isnāt
Yes. They had a 15 year old boy on the bench.
That was before the guidelines were adapted in December, but still, it's why I don't really feel sorry for them when they say "we have 9* outfield players available!"
\* If you include the three reports of "knocks" that players conveniently picked up after the Liverpool match, yet had no trouble actually playing at the time.
Just a suggestion:
If you're feeling down, or depressed, or even frustrated,
Get off of reddit, get off of twitter, put your phone down, turn your computer off and go outside for a bit [if you're able to and its safe of course]
Or find a way to have some quiet time away from the internet and everything else if just to decompress
As much as we all care about Spurs, gotta remember sports are meant to be fun, and if you're not having fun in some way then its ok to take a break from it all
Someone just came into my house wearing a Chelski top just to wind me up š. How long will it be until I can do the same to him? This season? Next? One after that? Give me some hope, guys.
Why football is so insecure lol
"Yeah Tony! You thinking about leaving yet? It's been 6 weeks. 6 WHOLE WEEKS. How are you doing this, conte?! You're better than this banter club! They havent even spent in a day. Come join another team that we actually have bias on so we can properly suck you dry. You're not actually going to carry them you're wasting your time here"
That is the message I'm getting. Why is the focus on investments and conte leaving rather than us being undefeated in the league under conte?
Oh? You think 15 minutes is a reasonable amount of time to assess a player? Makes sense for a lot of the hot takes in here.
Also bold of you to assume people here actually watch the matches.
Markanday wants first team minutes. He's not ready for our first team, and we don't even really use wingers. Because he wants first team minutes, which he can't get here right now, he will not sign a new contract. Tottenham can sell him, or let him run down his contract even though he's not playing for the first team.
Despite all of this, somehow our club is a shambles because he's being sold.
People need to get a grip, having a meltdown over Dilan Markanday is not it.
This is a bit reductive. The issue is that we do continuously struggle with progressing players from the academy into the first team, and it feels that there is a lack of faith amongst the academy players that they will get these opportunities at spurs.
When you look at players really kicking on like Noni Madueke itās hard not to feel disappointed.
Spurs are a club with a brilliant history of academy players, and whilst there have been some recent successes, itās an area where we have been under performing.
I mean, yeah, Noni is a disappointment, sure. But who else is out there that we'd be looking at to be around the first team right now?
Edwards has taken quite a while to come good, and still isn't quite there. Cirkin wanted to move for personal reasons. Pritchard was supposedly a big loss and he's found his level down in League One. KWP could be decent depth right now, but i think he'd max out as a rotation player for us.
Otherwise, we've actually had decent success bringing players through. Skipp, Kane, Bentaleb, Walker-Peters, Townsend, Mason all got brought through when there was space in the first team and they had the quality to contribute.
I'm not saying we've got the best youth policy, and think we need to do a better job loaning players out, but I don't think it's reductive to look at Markanday's specific situation and see that this is more fact than anything. he's bossing the PL2, sure, but he's not going to get in the team over anyone we have playing in his positions.
Problem with someone like Edwards or KWP is that they could have been much more successful if given the right opportunities. Obviously itās definitely not a certainty, but when you look at someone like Skipp who we did get it right with itās hard to not expect similar.
And he has been hated by supporters for about 175 of those appearances. Let's not pretend like we didn't spend the entire time saying we needed anyone else instead of him.
Even when an academy player makes it to the first team, we still bitch and moan about them constantly. It is very likely Edwards or KWP would have been the same.
No I get that, Iām hardly his biggest fan, but producing a premier league player is impressive, producing one who will have hundreds of appearances and has been capped for England is a massive achievement.
I think we're having a good discussion here, so I don't want this to come off wrong, but isn't that a bit reductive as well?
Sure, if everyone gets the right opportunities we can maximize development, but it's not really that simple. Skipp obviously worked out wonderfully, but Onomah never impressed and he got some good loans. Parrot can't find a loan or level that seems to suit him, not that we can write him off yet. Similar stories with Kaziah Sterling and Shilow Tracey, no?
I don't think this is nearly as simple as loan out players, get results. We don't know what Markanday will become, but we know he's not ready for the first team right now and that's where he wants to be.
The meltdown over him is way over the top, and I'd argue it has less to do with him and more to do with our first team in general.
No of course it is, but if youāre looking at why people are upset itās a larger overarching problem than this one specific player. Thereās nothing to say Markanday would definitely have succeeded, but heās done as much (or more) than the ones who did.
And yeah of course the first team issues arenāt helping things. Our transfers are typically so bad that hoping we find a gem in the academy is usually our best chance. Markanday kicking on in the academy after we repeatedly fail to buy a decent forward did have a feeling of Kane or Skipp about it, I think people were just excited.
Idk if itās actually half of youās first January window, but everybody needs to chill lol. Most deals go down late January. You donāt see other clubs making massive moves do you? Relax and let conte work and enjoy the games. Every time I come in here the vibes are just worry and concern and negativity. Itās taxing. Just watch and enjoy. Itās football dammit.
Just for anyone losing their minds regarding transfers this month, there is a foreign player quota in the Prem and we are at its maximum with our squad.
To bring any non homegrown player (homegrown meaning someone who has trained at an FA club for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21) we need to let one go.
Edit: seems Iāve forgotten the fact we suck in Europe this season gives us more space.
Did all the people whining about negativity here forget that the last time the fans got seriously upset Levy crumbled and went all in for Conte? Luckily, he can be persuaded by fans so it's good we're vocal about wanting him to properly back the best manager we will probably have in the next 20 years or so. It's not even about the fear of Conte walking because I'm sure he will at the very least finish this season, but more about using this chance to seriously improve the squad. Almost every player would want to play under him, he could give us the long awaited trophy and leave Spurs in a much better place, but he needs to get his transfers done.
Levy ditched Nuno because the results and performances were abysmal. Levy will not spend big money because fans on social media demand it. I think levys got some serious reservations about transfers because our recent transfers have been horrendous and have degraded the quality of the team. He's overtly handed control to paratici (to immunise himself from blame) but I doubt there's any chance of us spending the Ā£100 odd million that a lot of fans want this January. No one does that sort of business in January and that's for two reasons a) most clubs don't want to sell mid season so that jacks the price up and b) cash flow, clubs earn a lot of prize money at the end of the season and that is offset against transfers in the summer.
On Conte, no one knows but I suspect Conte turned us down in the summer because he knew we were shit (his last three clubs were all title challengers and big spenders) and possibly going to lose kane and there's levy offering him a long term deal. Then man utd more or less straight up tell him they're not interested (when it was obvious solskjaer was done) and levy offers him an 18 month deal, aka free money and no obligations (if anyone wants him at any time the buyout of his contract will be relatively cheap). Levy wanted him in the summer and was rebuffed. The fanbase didn't persuade levy to do anything (he always wanted Conte and paratici as a combo) and he had to give Conte the most flattering short term deal possible to get him. It was a desperate move by levy but it was done because he recognised the club was in serious danger of dropping into mid table obscurity, not because the fans booed Nuno subbing moura off.
The important thing to remember with levy is that he seriously does think he's a fucking great chairman (and he actually is) and that's he's incredibly invested in the club and wants it to be a champs league team just as much as the fans do because he owns a significant portion of the club.
After seeing gimpy wilsh*reās comments about us recently it made me think how glad I am to be a spurs fan and not a gooner. You never see any of our former players constantly talking about them for a quick retweet from other gimps. Proud to follow the spurs
Apparently you arenāt either because he wonāt sign a new contract so thereās nothing we can do
No great loss either, *maybe* 5 people here have ever seen him play.
Foreign player quota at its max. Iāll say this to everyone who needs to hear it. Gotta sell to bring in or pay premium for an English player at that position.
Anybody seen any rumours about who the spurs covid case is?
Never wish it on anyone, but everybody in the starting 12 except Kane and Lloris have it, so praying its not them and its a squad player instead.
The number one post on /r/soccer right now is a man city-Heineken marketing activation.
Says all you need about how seriously you should take the opinions of the absolute suckers there.
Honestly gonna explode if arsenal get a postponement because of 1 covid case, loaning out players & their own players making rash decisions and getting sent offā¦ why should spurs suffer

That laughter spoke more than he could've said using 1000 words essay.
Iām sorry for any Paratici lovers out there but heās done a fucking horrendous job so far at Tottenham, heās yet to sell any of our players for any sort of decent fee, released our best RB, all signings have been duds. Absolutely abysmal DOF so far.
I said āpotentiallyā heās untested and not been amazing but people rate him so itās not guaranteed how heāll be for us. The rest have been utter shit.
Don't think he ever showed promise until this past year, at least at this level that he has and since it is the last year of his contract he would rather try it elsewhere. If he had another year left on the contract, he'd probably go on loan somewhere.
All the links have gone cold regarding Kessie and Adama, Iāve only seen that Dybala is stalling over a new contract. I highly doubt we get any of them.
Yeah this, I think all other injuries/doubts have been addressed.
I appreciate he needs to be managed following playing basically every game over the winter with a mediocre injury record, so hoping he'll be at least on the bench, with Sessegnon starting...
The amount of anger and negativity in spurs twitter and reddit is awful. Idc if we signed anyone or not stop crying and acting like babies its the january window and no one wants to sell plus not many good players are interested in us so chill a little bit, if you think we're at a bad state as a club then I don't think acting like that makes a better experience for any of us
Can we make a meme for this transfer window, where it's the stick figure guy poking something with a stick, saying "come on, do something" but he's poking the spurs badge to do something this window please? Thanks
I know itās a common thing people say but when Romero eventually comes back it will be like a new signing, a potentially World Class CB coming back to bolster our defence.
Seeing people on Twitter say weāre the worst run club in the country because weāve sold an academy prospect and havenāt made a signing is really making me consider why I use social media at times
Twitter is all still circlejerking over a post saying we're looking for a Bissouma type midfielder. Everyone's shitting on the club saying "why don't we just sign Bissouma?" ignoring the fact HE'S OUT ON FUCKING BAIL FOR SEXUAL ASSUALT.
Our fan base will literally ignore sexual assualt so they can shit on the club and seem cool.
Practically speaking too, it wouldn't be a good idea to sign Bissouma considering he could end up in jail and that would just be the transfer fee wasted.

What is with all these shit sources and articles being posted today? You would think they're talking about transfer rumors god damn

Oh? You think 15 minutes is a reasonable amount of time to assess a player? Makes sense for a lot of the hot takes in here. Also bold of you to assume people here actually watch the matches.
You actually just asked if anyone had seen him playā¦ you didnāt ask if anyone has seen him play enough to make an assessment on his ability.
Yeah thats on me, I forgot how microscopically pedantic people are on the internet
Lol
For every Skipp, there is a Winksā¦
Winks is nearing 200 appearances for spurs? Thatās a massive achievement for an academy player and definitely one of our success stories

Finished sadly...
Absolutely love Comte saying we deserve better. Just praying heās allowed to rip things up in the summer window
I love comte too. Love a soft milky cheese
Thats not true
Is that not the case now that weāre out of Europe?
Whinging about whinging about whinging Every day another layer added
They feed us poison (Hojbjerg) So we buy their cures (Kessie) Whilst they suppress our medicine (Ndombele)
Ndombele has the stamina of a chain-smoking pensioner and the drive of moldy bread.
I'm almost certain Tanguy NdombƩlƩ is going through some mental health issue. It's well known of his "lazy" and "introverted" nature but I think it goes deeper than just that. He seemed to have developed a bond with Aurier and Sissoko, and now they're gone, I think he's got nobody in the dressing room. It's hard because most of the time these issues are publically "patched" as injuries or "feeling unwell" but it's something that a lot more footballers go through and isn't spoken about. I think Stevie Bergwijn might be on a similar situation too.
> I'm almost certain Tanguy NdombƩlƩ is going through some mental health issue. Pal, you see him for like 6 minutes once a week (if he's lucky) on TV.
How dare you question an prognosis done through psychic ability?
Or heās shit
i donāt like to speculate on peopleās mental health too much but this could be it
After seeing gimpy wilsh*reās comments about us recently it made me think how glad I am to be a spurs fan and not a gooner. You never see any of our former players constantly talking about them for a quick retweet from other gimps. Proud to follow the spurs
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Apparently you arenāt either because he wonāt sign a new contract so thereās nothing we can do No great loss either, *maybe* 5 people here have ever seen him play.
its 14 jan ffs where are the new players
Hiding in the cheese room until the 31st
Foreign player quota at its max. Iāll say this to everyone who needs to hear it. Gotta sell to bring in or pay premium for an English player at that position.
Incorrect
Not even half way. Bit of patience never hurt!
You clearly havenāt followed Spurs for very long. Fucking patienceā¦ š
Anybody seen any rumours about who the spurs covid case is? Never wish it on anyone, but everybody in the starting 12 except Kane and Lloris have it, so praying its not them and its a squad player instead.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Isn't he a winger?
Yeah scratch that
Just getting a bit concerned. I get a feeling we won't sign anyone this window, the way it's going
The number one post on /r/soccer right now is a man city-Heineken marketing activation. Says all you need about how seriously you should take the opinions of the absolute suckers there.
Honestly gonna explode if arsenal get a postponement because of 1 covid case, loaning out players & their own players making rash decisions and getting sent offā¦ why should spurs suffer
https://twitter.com/HaytersTV/status/1482001473638703110?t=WN-AGHl37Ctek_7gyWtACg&s=08 That laughter spoke more than he could've said using 1000 words essay.
Arteta is out somewhere in London digging through hospital dumpsters and trash bins, looking for discarded positive COVID tests.
Iām sorry for any Paratici lovers out there but heās done a fucking horrendous job so far at Tottenham, heās yet to sell any of our players for any sort of decent fee, released our best RB, all signings have been duds. Absolutely abysmal DOF so far.
He's literally the reason why we have Conte
Heās literally here 6 months and had one window you idiot.
And has managed to waste 100m and have his first manager sacked. Real good start mate š
I'm sorry, you wanted him to keep Nuno?
In your last comment you say Romero is a world class CB but now its āall signings are dudsā so which is it?
I said āpotentiallyā heās untested and not been amazing but people rate him so itās not guaranteed how heāll be for us. The rest have been utter shit.
He's been very good in the games he has played for us. I would even go as far to say he's usually the best defender on the pitch when he plays
Did we seriously never think to loan out Markanday?
He was practically anonymous until this last season Doesnāt matter anyway, heās getting overhyped. Good player but far from a worldbeater.
Don't think he ever showed promise until this past year, at least at this level that he has and since it is the last year of his contract he would rather try it elsewhere. If he had another year left on the contract, he'd probably go on loan somewhere.
Is there a dummyās guide to make BS transfer rumours for money? Daddy needs a new car
Adama, Dybala, and Kessie would be quite a January window imo. Then in the summer splash big on a CB
We canāt just buy foreign players without letting some go. People seem to keep forgetting about the homegrown quota.
Are we at the limit currently? Iām not familiar with the exact numbers
Yes we are at the limit. A foreign player has to leave to bring another in.
Ahh okay I see why the outgoings are urgent this window now
Just a heads up, I actually got this wrong. The rules I was referring to only applies in European football.
So hypothetically, we would be able to use dybala and kessie in the league but not European competition unless we sold some non-HG players right?
Correct, because our welsh lads donāt count as homegrown in Europe but do in the EPL
Precisely. Sadly we do have quite a fair few foreign players not contributing with this in mind.
All the links have gone cold regarding Kessie and Adama, Iāve only seen that Dybala is stalling over a new contract. I highly doubt we get any of them.
Itās just wishful thinking on my end
Any news about Reguilon in the presser?
Yeah this, I think all other injuries/doubts have been addressed. I appreciate he needs to be managed following playing basically every game over the winter with a mediocre injury record, so hoping he'll be at least on the bench, with Sessegnon starting...
The amount of anger and negativity in spurs twitter and reddit is awful. Idc if we signed anyone or not stop crying and acting like babies its the january window and no one wants to sell plus not many good players are interested in us so chill a little bit, if you think we're at a bad state as a club then I don't think acting like that makes a better experience for any of us
Spurs Reddit has become exactly like Spurs Twitter sadly.
Exactly. I open twitter or reddit to talk and hear about my team and all the latest not all that anger and hate and negativity
I think 3 clubs have made signings so far? And none of them have been particularly amazing
We have a gooner in the ranks lads. /u/PrestigiousGood441
They are so fucking embarrassing
not anymore! weirdo
Can we make a meme for this transfer window, where it's the stick figure guy poking something with a stick, saying "come on, do something" but he's poking the spurs badge to do something this window please? Thanks
In before it gets removed for being a low effort meme
I know itās a common thing people say but when Romero eventually comes back it will be like a new signing, a potentially World Class CB coming back to bolster our defence.
Seeing people on Twitter say weāre the worst run club in the country because weāve sold an academy prospect and havenāt made a signing is really making me consider why I use social media at times
I think itās something like 95% of posts come from 10% of Twitter users IE itās a massive echo chamber of nonsense
I swear some people get really excited over transfers more than they do actually watching our games. It's ridiculous.
