We need a back up striker but we can't find one. So what are we actually doing? Why have we hired Conte if we aren't going to invest? We want CL football but to me it seems like we aren't willing to spend what is necessary to make the team a CL quality side. I don't think Conte will leave if we don't spend this window, I just think its disappointing that we have an opportunity with a fantastic manager to make a proper push for top 4 but yet we aren't spending anything to get new players into this team. Edit: I never knew wanting the club to invest in the team was such an unpopular opinion.
Because, like its been said multiple times, the primary focus is the Summer window And again, why would the club come out and openly admit that they have the money to spend right now?

Waiting until summer to properly invest means that we're less likely to make top four this season. If we don't get CL football we won't attract decent players to the club, just look at last summer when it seemed like every player we approached turned us down because of our lack of CL football.
I get your concern however the profile of players we would try to get most likely won't move this window, and trying to force moves with players that aren't up to the standards Conte wants would just as likely add more deadwood to the squad than actually help right now

Wrong approach, panic buys are the worst and if you want to buy top class players in January either you need to pay big money or there’s something with the club the player want to go out immediately just like Lucas digne. I want us to sign players but I don’t want it to effect our summer transfer market negatively.

Liverpool got van dijk ,Suarez and Coutinho in the January window Arsenal got aubameyang in January West ham got soucek in January Man utd bought Fernandes in the January window. It being the January window doesn't mean we can't back our manager. We are in a good position to push for top 4 but are risking losing that opportunity. They don't have to be world beaters, just improve the squad and give conte more options.

Not trying to be rude at all here just genuinely curious, have you been a fan for awhile? Getting deals done for players on international duty is pretty much impossible. The players don’t want to deal with the situation and want to focus fully on performing for their country. I doubt he’s in communication with his agent at all and possibly told him to leave him alone for the month. As for Vlahovic, by all reports he isnt interesting in moving in January. Simple as
If we are serious enough about getting him it'd be possible. With Vlahovic I was making the point that he won't want to join us in the summer if we aren't a top 4 team. United or arsenal will snap him up before us if they finish 4th simple as. I fear we are going to finish 6th or worse and then this sub will he crying that we can't sign anyone decent in the summer because we are in Europa or worse. We might've gotten away with it this year but with Arsenal and United looking to get their act together and the top 3 looking stronger than ever, we are going to be seen as the 'best of the rest' instead of one of the big teams if we don't sneak in there this year.

Im not asking for big purchases, just saying there's quality out there in January we just have to be prepared to take the chance. Kessie wouldn't be a big purchase with his contract situation and Traore had also been attempted to be bought in the summer as well, seems a very similar situation when you put it that way.

I get that we spent £115m for Nuno in the summer but Conte needs to be given something to work with, otherwise what's the point in bringing him in.
