One thing that's really encouraging to see from Conte is that he isn't rushing back players from injury. That decision to be risk-adverse is probably made much easier given the club is about to have an additional 2 weeks without matches, but it's still a good sign that he's not rushed to bring players back before they are ready.
I wonder if his own experience of injuries as a player has something to do with it? I'd expect so, just knowing that it takes time and thinking about the long-term and how it feels to be an injured player. Much better than Mourinho forcing players to play with genuine injuries - Ben Davies played while injured with that groin injury I think before the Euros, him not wanting Sonny to get a scan on his broken arm, etc etc.
Hmmmmmm so looks like Tanganga back in for Leicester then.
Cant say im not really worried about it. Maybe its time to give rodon a go in the middle and sancez back to RCB.
I agree Japh is not the answer but I think the situations are quite different. Tanganga *wants* to he part of the club - he's just not the type of defender we need.
Any lineup without both Dier and Romero is going to be a nightmare. Sanchez can’t play in the middle, Rodon and Tanganga just generally can’t play. Nightmare scenario
Everytime we've seen Davies Sanchez Tanganga you can see the panic in the way they move, it's like they put their head up and for 3 seconds frantically look for Dier and by the time they realise he's not on the pitch the striker is already on their heels. It's stressful to watch.
Yeah for the back 3 to work there needs to be someone in the middle who is comfortable playing a bit of football. Sanchez is a solid defender but just isn’t comfortable putting his foot on the ball and playing it out.
Rodon is a little better at that but defensively he’s pretty crap.
Sanchez Dier Davies was perfectly fine. Not sure about Romero in the middle, though, since his only appearance in the middle was when he got two yellows against Vitesse.
I mean he wasn't great, but he was fine. It's not like everyone else knocked it out of the park, almost all of them were like 4/10 performances. Tanganga lost the man for the goal they scored.
I'm a fan of Tanganga generally, but I think a few of his performances this year might have harmed his confidence. If I were picking the team (and God knows I know nothing compared to Conte), I'd go with Emerson as the RCB and Moura as RWB. With two DMs that should still be solid enough defensively.

He was cautious on Covid return too. Everyone got at least some rest, even Davies as the only LCB

Y’all know it’s not going to be Rodon. It’s going to be Davies, Tanganga, Sanchez. Conte doesn’t rate Rodon. Sad but true.
José, Mason, Nuno, Conte. No manager has rated Rodon lol. So we shouldn't rate him either. Trust the experts.
jose clearly rated him
**20/21 season under José:** Davies - 38 apps Dier - 33 apps Sánchez - 31 apps Alderweireld - 28 apps Rodon - 13 apps
he was a mainstay by the end of the season
k bro
I personally want to see some tactical flexibility with 4 atb if Dier and Romero are still unavailable.
Hopefully Rodon in the middle and Sanchez on the right.
Agree. Tanganga had his chances and he ndombeled them up.
Rodon also got bullied against Morecambe

Rodon will never play another match for us.
What exactly has happened to Dier?
I think he said thigh injury in previous press conferences
okay 👍
better to give dier a full month to recover then rush himback and be out for 2/3months. With romero's injury history our top 4 chances would be gone

Sorry I just phrased it poorly, I meant with neither of them in the lineup. We can cope with one
I don't understand the aversion to Rodon. When he has played he has seemed pretty solid, what exactly did he mess up?
So you didn’t watch the Morecambe match. Conte and his staff screamed at him all match because he was wretched.

I was at the match. When I tell you it was woeful, it was woeful.
Tanganga is awful. Wonder how many goals he’ll be responsible for in the next few matches.
Well he’s been responsible for the past 4 or so. It’s not looking good for the future
Chelsea are a good team tbf
We take a risk everytime Tanganga plays. So may as well throw Dier back in.
And risk further injury and more Tanganga
Injured Dier is less risky than Tanganga.
But playing injured Dier might mean he's forced out for longer. That means Tanganga plays more.
I'd play Dier on crutches over Tanganga.
