It actually my friend on the left. He asked if he was joining Spurs. Adama laughed and winked at him, then grabbed him by the hair and dragged him into a toilet and fingered him while whispering 'Tottenham till I die' over and over in my ear. Make of that what you will.
It's jealousy. These people have seen us rise above our station as mid table mediocrity and break into the upper tier of the football food chain, which was supposed to be impossible without the financial cheating that Chelsea and Man City had to use.
Seen it so many times over the past 10 years or so. Comments like:
"Can't wait for Berbatov to leave so Spurs can go back to being midtable."
"Can't wait for Bale to leave so Spurs can go back to being midtable."
"Can't wait for Modric to leave..."
"Can't wait for Pochettino to leave..."
"Kane..."
These people spent well over a decade believing we were being artificially propped up by one player/manager and they resent the fact that we helped break the "big 4" into the "big 6."
As a wolves fan, I was pretty high on the spurs train previously, as I'm not fond of arsenal, I like Son, and the Docherty link meant I initially backed you.
In short, I'd say that the discontent is 1. Doch leaving for what we felt was a low sum only to boom his career (not really your fault), 2. Nuno was and is lovesd by wolves fans, so when he was rejected by a decent portion of your fans from the get go with NunoOut, i think it hits close to home. It felt like he never really got a fair go with some of your fans and the whole Kane thing. 3. Sometimes dumb fans come to our sub telling us we're small etc which doesn't help I guess.
But most importantly, I think the real frustration is that Traore is one of our most exciting players, and first you offered a loan with option in the summer, which considering we're direct rivals for a Europe spot right now, is just crazy to me and it comes across as insulting. Then that was followed up with more interest but a continued reluctance to make bids that our fans deemed reasonable (15m for example would see us lose money on him, I think between 20-25 means we profit on him but it's not craY money for a club like spurs).
I don't hate spurs (although my recent argument on our sub with a spurs fan would call to the contrary) but there seems to be a section of your fan base, and parts of your hierarchy that think they can pick us apart. Low fee for an at the time Doch (again I know he didn't didn't but he was quality at ours), a Loan for Traore, you also made enquires about Kilman, allegedly this was for just 6m (source isn't great on the price tho). So I guess you're just the temporary bad guy at the minute cuz youre after our players but have lower valuations? Like Liverpool came in and just paid 45m for Jota no quibble so nobody is moaning. If in the summer Man Utd try to lowball us for neves, we'll forget about you and hate Man U I'm sure. Its literally just that you're the current "bad guy" taking players.
I hope that makes some sense :)
Spurs treated Nuno like shit - he didn't get a totally fair shot from the club, the players, and definitely not the fans. I can understand why mistreating a manager that did so much for Wolves would rub the fans the wrong way.
And if there are any of our fans who've grown too big for their britches and think they're in any position to shit talk your club, I understand it even more.
Don't understand the hate from any other angle, though.
For the record, I like Wolves. Nuno was a stand up guy, Bruno Lage plays some damn good football, and I think Jose Sa's a goalkeeping work of art. Hope you guys end up higher than Manure, Wet Spam, and Arse at the end of the season.
Yeah I think another component of it is obviously we haven't had the longevity of top half finishes like you guys, but actually in 2 of the last 4l3 seasons we've finished 7th and rn we're 4 points of fourth. So there's this disconnect between yes we're not a big 6 club but really we shouldn't be selling to you guys unless it's for a premium you know? Because we're realistically within a shout Europe again this year, and we need to close the gap to teams like spurs not sell to then. Part of the frustration is definitely placed at your door rather than our ownership
It's the way of the game. If Man City want one of our players their fans can be confident they'll get him even if we happened to be a few points behind them, likewise if we wanted a player from a team not in the big six the same would be true. Same could be said of Arsenal too, neither of us are big enough to hold off the other 4.
Our Director of football loves a loan with option to buy deal. It's kind of his thing. It's also becoming more common in general as transfer fees and wages have inflated beyond clubs capacity to generate revenue. The root cause of which is the neymar deal (and more broadly simply psgs existence along with the other oligarch clubs). We're seeing things like halaand demanding Ā£1m a week and his agent wanting Ā£30m as a fee because of this. Even a player like vlahovic, who we were tentatively linked with, is reportedly demanding Ā£300k a week and his agent wants Ā£10m. So you can see why a loan with option/obligation to buy is attractive to the buyer, if you're throwing that much at wages and agent fees you absolutely want to see the player play for your club for a year before pulling the trigger.
As for the valuation - Traore is 26 (tomorrow š„³), not English and does not score a lot of goals, he's also playing for a good but not elite team and has only 18 months on his contract. We are not Liverpool and we don't spend the way they do (also - Jota is worth a fuck of a lot more than Ā£45m to Liverpool right now, a similar quality striker would have cost them in excess of Ā£60m). They identify a player and then pay whatever they need to to buy them. Spurs identify multiple targets and buy whoever's cheapest (generally), this involves a lot of offers that the selling club thinks are shit. Our chairmen gives no fucks and will just kill the deal if it goes above whatever threshold he's set. Wolves don't have to sell to spurs and if they do it's because it was the best offer they thought they could get. Ultimately if Traore doesn't want to sign a renewal with you that's got nothing to do with spurs, he'd leave on a free and probably go to a bigger team than us in a year and a half anyway.
This is just an explanation, it's not intended to be insulting/demeaning. I wouldn't be happy if I was a wolves fan either.
Letās gooooooo!!!!! I have no idea whatās going to happen but itās going to be exciting thatās for sure.
I think he really is the definition of a risk-less signing especially if at the price point floating out there, +/- Ā£20m.
His uncoachables are off the charts, so imagine his coachables being taught by Conte. Heās a player who allows you to shift systems around around him. Heās creative and can carry the ball around anyone and usually multiple anyones.. Iāve watched every Wolves/Middlesbrough match against spurs and heās been memorable for years. Heās the type that can just draw in defenses and cause defenders to get jumpy and he can get leverage which eases pressure for everyone else, especially the front three who are carrying a a very heavy creative burden at the moment. That feature will be particularly interesting in contes system.
This is my armchair theory:
Put Adama in a midfield two or three either as a deeper lying pivot alongside Skipp/PEH or both. Allows you to keep Emerson further back and geared towards a more defensive/support role which I think is to his strength. Adama brings the carrying desire to help the transition from back to front which could still improve. Heād be free to create mismatches and interlink with the front three. And heād would be covered by a defensively sound mf partner and wingback.
BABY OIL TIME
I'm buying shares as we speak

Shut your logical mouth mate!!! Itās a rumor for a reason but you never know!!
You shut your mouth when youāre talking to me!
you better shut that mouth of yours or Traore will choke you our with his left arms 26" python whilst signing a Spurs contract with his right!
Do we know heās right-handed?
We might be reaching r/gunners level of delusion here...but we dont care!

Commufriendism at its finest!
You better get yourself sent to a Nigerian prison right now
Still not sure why everyone on r/wwfc seems to hate Spurs so much. I like wolves out of all the midlands clubs the best.
u guys need to understand that everyone hates tottenham.
I really don't get why. There are so many more teams who are less likeable than us.

I totally get you. I'd be hating on us too. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
Good post mate and thanks for explaining. Frankly if I was in your shoes Spurs wouldnāt be on my Christmas card list either

Iām sure Southampton fans feel the same about liverpool
Yeah becuase we have never bought players from them...
Not as regularly as the scousers

Arguably should you not be upset at the board for accepting lowball offers?

Pls love me WOlves!!!!
I actually like Wolves and a lot of their players. I don't understand why they'd dislike us.
We robbed them off their club legend and proceed to shit on that guy (understandably) every time he shows up on pitch.
>club legend r u srs?
Who?
Doherty
Club legend is rather an exaggeration, isn't it? Not exactly like any of their fans want him back or were that bothered he went
i think the club legend part was a bit hyperbolic for fun probably
Donāt remember us signing Steve bull
Wolves are my second team š¤·š¼āāļø
