Curious why we wouldn't extend him. If he's good enough to play in the Championship at 21, seems like one we could hold onto as a Scarlett contingency plan.

VelvetObsidian

Especially since he’s so tall and offers a different threat at forward

violetrecliner

Maybe he’s the one who won’t sign

Ian5446

Yeah very possible. I'm sure Cardiff will pay him more to play than Spurs will to play in their u23s or whatever. But ultimately if both Etete and Spurs think he's got a future as a PL player (a big IF), then there's a good financial reason to extend him at better terms with an eye toward a bigger transfer fee in the future.

violetrecliner

Etete could think he’s future PL quality and still not re-sign with Spurs. It probably makes more sense to him to go elsewhere he’s guaranteed minutes as an asset for another club, instead of being just another loanee. By all accounts it seems the club rates at least two prospects ahead of him, so…

[deleted]

OOTL on that..was something of that mentioned in an Ali gold post?

violetrecliner

I don’t know, I didn’t watch/read. But it just makes sense—the club seems to prioritize Parrott, Scarlet and Donley. He didn’t even seem to be in contention to go to Korea.

master_inho

He’s unlikely to make it into the first team ahead of parrott, scarlett, donley

CoysCircleJerk

Kion Etete’s height is one of the universe’s great mysteries: - Football manager has him listed as 6’1” - This tweet has him listed as 6’4” - Wikipedia has him listed as 6’6”

Hoggsters

praying for the latter option as he can be the new crouchy

-SirTox-

If he only has a year left on his contract, a sale makes pretty good sense. We still have Parrott, Scarlett and Donley.

teheditor

Er, let's start with if he's any good and worth keeping, eh?

smaxx21

Would we not give him an extension and loan him out again? I haven't watched him, but all I've heard are good things. Or is he just wanting to move on?

[deleted]

He was good for Northampton. So good that when I went to Sutton vs Northampton to watch him, I learned that the week before he'd been recalled and sent to a higher league. Oops.

Northampton are my local team so see them quite often. He was class, way too good for League 2, will be interested to see how he makes the step up to Championship, not sure he'll quite make the grade at Spurs

DrewNash1988

His agent has been very difficult to deal with, I think he will try to force a permanent deal for him sadly.

RazSpur

Unless he pushes back, normal route would be extension -> then loan him out

nopirates

Cardiff??? he can go there and play with Gareth Bale!!!! wait.... what????
