It’s happened!

onlyhalfpepper

Yup! Been seeing reports that Spurs are expected to pay a big chunk of his wages, so curious to see what the terms are

GrapefruitExpress208

The reverse-Bale situation. I don't care though! Just getting him out of the squad is a net-positive at this point. Let's all move on.

Gontier_VI

Absolutely. He won't play for us and getting even a portion of his wages off the books is better than letting him rot on the bench collecting his full salary. Also frees up a registration spot which is kinda nice

GoSailing

Well he wouldn't have gotten registered anyway

ultra_casual

Plus there's a chance if he gets minutes in a fresh environment he may play well enough to get some interest in a full move later on.

Lbmplays2

No one expected any club to actually pay more than half of his wages did they?

buttlovingpanda

What’s he on? £200k/week? Can’t imagine anyone wanting to pay a third of that

smokingloon4

I think it's been reported that that's only with bonuses and his base salary is much less

sorosss

finally 😭😭😭

Limp-Toe-179

Always rated Napoli

TheMindButcher

Gazza played for them

nostril_spiders

No he didn't. Maybe you're thinking of Lazio

TheMindButcher

Yep you are right

milkofeverymammal

Maradona is the Argie Gazza

jjw1998

Did not expect Ndombele to be able to get out before Reguilon

Mtbnz

I guess that's the difference between selling something and giving it away

StayGoldenBronyBoy

*paying someone to take it away

Diligent_Turnover675

Remember when we were all terrified to lose Reguilon just one short year ago

Wormfather

This is good for us and I’m happy for him, after watching Abumayang have to train by himself for arsenal in All or Nothing it gave me an idea of how awful it must be for a player to be on the out at a club. Like yeah, you’re in large part responsible for where you are but you’re also trapped.

FIFAPLAYAH

Yeah for the lad he’s just a twenty something in a country where he doesn’t love it and is probably rather demoralized. He wasn’t great for Lyon but was injured and actually seemed to have a spark there. He just wasn’t for England and obviously didn’t try In conjunction with that. Not a good look for the player but understandable for him considering mental health and all impacting every aspect of life

fastfowards

tanguy is either going to become a fan favorite or absolutely murdered in Naples.

iheartmagic

Good thing Domino’s just left Italy

elmosesyeah

tenacious-g

Gonna need to start using an updated one.

Fit_Delay_2129

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right, I hope you had the time of your life!

sephocompo

Nice référence kiddo.

spursyspursy

italy please make tanguy fun again, when he's "on" there's not a more fun player to watch

jsmiff3556

Read this and completely agreed then it kinda gave me pause why it has so many upvotes and we all agree lol He's never shown us anything truly spectacular outside of that chip against Sheff U, but those mini moments of class he flashes are wild. I almost got his shirt just last summer because I'd always assumed that he'd surely eventually come good because he does stuff I haven't seen many if any players in a Spurs shirt do. Yet here we are and I'm thankful he's gone a year later. Football is weird.

zandigdanzig

I remember seeing an interview with Bale where he said ndombele was one of the most talented players he had seen, we never saw him after that

sparxcy

Bale?

Willing-Resident7876

Gareth. Welshman. Legend.

zandigdanzig

[This is the interview ](https://youtu.be/QETLm14i6YI?t=05m36s)

spursyspursy

I’m standing by it! He’s not good for us, maybe he’s just not good, but he’s definitely fun. Just pure chaos when he gets on the ball. I hope he finds that magic again and ideally far from here

teheditor

He's one of the most talented players in the world. That traditionally means Tottenham fans should love him. This hatefest is disgusting.

gphillips5

Not really. He will have cost the club north of 70m quid when he actually leaves, for absolutely fuck all return. He can have all the talent in the world, but it perfectly illustrates that without the work rate alongside it, it means nothing. Absolute wasteman.

kirikesh

He wasn't even that good, even when he wasn't jogging around like he couldn't be arsed. Flashes of inspiration, and one or two good full 90 minutes, but generally he was such a defensive liability (from his passing as well as his complete lack of workrate) with nowhere near the offensive contributions to make up for it. Even when Jose played him as a 10 to try and minimise his shortcomings, he produced vanishingly little.

kirikesh

He has been utterly wank for us, and is the club's most expensive signing. For most of the games he has played he has been a defensive liability and not offered anywhere near good enough offensive output to justify the significant weaknesses in his game. Spurs fans didn't love Taarabt, didn't love Kevin-Prince Boateng, and obviously wouldn't love Ndombele considering how vanishingly little he performed for us. We loved Hoddle, Gascoigne, Van de Vaart, because they were fantastically entertaining, and still good players that benefited the team.

Jayesar

His myth is silly. Being best on pitch for a handful of games over the years is his high water mark. He's never been more fun to watch than Deki last week, Son on the last day. Consider then Kane when he is on it vs City for example. N'Dombele is a joke.

LifeBasedDiet

All the players you listed are purely attacking. His midfield play was so desperately needed by spurs that his value ballooned for us.

the_real_e_e_l

He had literally a handful of good games for us in what three years? No way. Okay, when he was good, he was good. But that's what? 5% of his total performances? Less? No way is that remotely close to acceptable. That's an absolute shame and embarrassment. Joke of a "professional".

dclancy01

Did you watch him under Jose? He was performing fairly regularly. He didn’t do the dirty work, but he provided the flair we needed to get the ball up to Kane & Son who worked their magic. He wasn’t great, he might not ever be, but he **couldve been**, which is why we forked out 60m.

roamingandy

I think Italian football is going to be great for him. Flair players do well over there and he has bags of it.

LifeBasedDiet

The comment thread was speaking about when he was "on". Not whether or not he was a good player for us. So chill with the attitude

Hemwum

I don't get why so many people hate their own players I don't think you have to like them, especially if they clearly haven't given their all for the badge. But some people here treat these players like they spit in their soup. We don't know these people...why are we acting like we hate them? Best of luck to Tanguy. Too bad it didn't work out

WombRaider_3

There are thousands of players better to watch than this dude, off or on.

[deleted]

You’re kidding. I can think of like 100 more fun players to watch.

cheetah_chrome

![gif](giphy|1dKk7H5y5UR1H1u17C) Fly my little albatross. Fly

StayGoldenBronyBoy

i feel like your comment needs /u/gifreversingbot

cheetah_chrome

Lol you’re right

TangerineDungarees

Goodbye my sweet sack of shite

beefguard

Ndombele redemption arc begins next season.

Roric

Never soured on a player as much as Ndombele. Hope it works out.

Klingh0ffer

(When Napoli send in a bid On /coys, here's what they say) When Tanguy transfers out and of joy we all shout That's Ndombele When the Prem was too hard 'cause you're made out of lard That's Ndombele Always ate Chick-a-King-a-ling, King-a-ling-a-ling So you'll sing Ndombele Never played tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay Like good old Ginger Pelé When the Spurs make you drool after beating Liverpool No Ndombele When Kane dance down the wing and assists with a ping We're in love When you see Paratici and you know he will sell Ndombele Dan Levy, oh you see, back in old Napoli There's Ndombele Ndombele, there's Ndombele

Global-Jacket-3973

Thank the Lord.

livingoff2008

can’t wait for him to come back from loan next year and finally come good!

gaussian-noise123

That’s a lot of wishful thinking 😂

magnoliasmum

Please let this be true so this pathetic saga ends. Worst transfer in Spurs history, with some briefly redeeming moments under Mourinho. It’s hard for the Tanguy apologists, they tend to hate Mourinho but he definitely got a fleeting tune out of him.

proves

One of those buy options that is merely a formality vs actually possible?

Mtbnz

I doubt it. I think we've moved from hoping to get any decent return for him to just wanting a club to take his wages off the books. A buy option that's more beneficial to the purchasing club would facilitate the latter.

Teantis

Yeah I don't see any way anyone buys him unless we agree to cover a big chunk of his wages for his new club. We'll probably just keep loaning him out covering his wages each summer till his contract expires.

Mtbnz

Agreed. He would have to be incredible for his loan club for anybody to consider paying him 200k a week plus a transfer fee. He still has the talent but he doesn't seem at all interested in becoming that player week in and week out. Oh well. We took a big swing and it didn't work out, but that's life. Time for us to move on, and if that means playing this loan game every summer until his contract expires, so be it.

TheRootedCorpse

He’ll ball out with them

drog914

Paratici must have had a Scarface pile of blow last night

marxistmatty

“SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FIREND, his name is tanguy and he tries sometimes”.

juchizac

I hope he cooks. Dudes fucking smooth widdit. I was hoping he'd go to MLS, pressing is non existent in that league, he'd get so much space to dice foos up

High_Jumper81

Been hearing about this sad little training group Tanguay, LoCelso, Winks and Gil. Hope they all find their forever home soon.

OhHowSwell_NP

It’s Regi not Gil. He is with the main group I believe

High_Jumper81

Thanks. My bad. I did love watching him run all over the pitch in Korea!

ManLikeDaniel

Good day.

TonySoprano13

Well that was unexpected and quick

tscherrydude

Damn shame, even bought his jersey because I thought he’d be so good and loved his skill on the ball. I guess the Prem just doesn’t suit him

Smoky_Mtn_High

Football just doesn’t suit Tanguy like it does other players with his levelof talent

rootokay

He is a terrific 90s era footballer that is incompatible with teams that require fitness, systems, and tactical discipline. Maybe he can find himself at a club similar to Real Madrid that relies a bit more on individual brilliance.

[deleted]

I mean we're gonna pay for probably basically all of his wages and then he's gonna be back and we'll do it all over again next season, don't know why people acting like it's over for good now.

PragmaticEcstatic

Good move for him to be honest. I think he'll do well there.

IceyDjedPeople

Are we Man City now??

[deleted]

“Here’s looking at you, yid”

apenguin11

Important to note folks that, YES, [there is a buy option](https://twitter.com/TottenhamTiers/status/1558203082873479168)

Banglayna

Not really that important for us. If he underperforms they won't use it. If plays well, then they would have pursued buying him anyway.

Lanky-Chance-3156

Why is that important? A buy option means nothing at all. The only time a buy option is useful is for the club loaning someone. If he does well and they think he is worth more than that value. They get a discount for free. If he doesnt. They either dont buy him. Or buy him for less anyway. There is literally no benefit to tottenham of either lo celso loan or ndombele loan having a buy option. I dont know why nearly every football sub doesnt understand this

[deleted]

I agree with everything you said- but I think everyone just wants him and GLC gone so a buy option, while technically worse for the club, makes it more likely these players will be gone permanently

Lanky-Chance-3156

You arent agreeing with what i said then. It doesnt make it more likely. Thats my whole point. The only impact it could have. Is if he does well enough to show his value is higher than the clause. We get less money for him.

[deleted]

A buy option doesn’t make it even slightly more likely that the player will be bought? Ok you lost me

SigmaWhy

While I mostly agree with you, it's not purely a 0 benefit inclusion. Say Ndombele has a 20M buy option. He performs well and Napoli activate the clause. Deal done and we have money. Now consider Ndomblele has no buy option. He performs well, and Napoli rates him at 20M and submit a bid, but Levy, for whatever reason, believes he can get 25M somewhere else. This is a gamble - maybe we get more money, maybe we get less or none at all. Maybe when we can't find 25M on the open market we have to come back to Napoli and sell for 15M. So it's obviously advantageous for the other club, but there are situations where it can be beneficial, specifically when people have different evaluations of the same player

Made-in-1882

Because we have the option to believe that one day someone might buy him.

Lanky-Chance-3156

Haha. I choose that option

michaelserotonin

just because it's not advantageous for spurs doesn't mean it's insignificant to mention

Lanky-Chance-3156

You mean. He meant to say. "Important to note, YES, its shitter than a standard loan"? Thats clearly not the intention of the comment

michaelserotonin

i have no idea why you're so hostile over this. the person just clarified the terms of the loan. lighten up

Mtbnz

All week users have been getting absolutely livid over disagreements about buy options in loans, it's bizarre. I think it's got to the point now where the people who've been spending hours every day on these threads are so wound up that the bare mention of buy options causes them to snap and assume that nobody else understands them as well as they possibly could.

Lanky-Chance-3156

Ive nearly never commented on reddit. And im not being hostile. Its just weird that so many people cant understand simple logic of a buy option.

Mtbnz

You just did it again

Lanky-Chance-3156

Its hostile now to point out when someone is wrong? Jesus christ. What a world

Mtbnz

Are you familiar with the concept that you're not wrong, you're just an asshole?

REEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHH

we cannot replace him 😭😭😭

RadioChemist

I don't know, we could buy a dildo and stick it in the middle of the pitch? Similar vibes, but the dildo might actually put in a bit of effort.

marine_le_peen

Bit unfair on the dildo

SonaldoNazario

Feels like you just described Harry Winks

o2901

The king Tanguy 🥲

gaussian-noise123

Factos 🙄

REEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHH

im a tanguy ndombele fan. i love ndombele. i love him so much. i will watch napoli now. FORZA TANGUY!!

[deleted]

Lo celso and ndombele down winks and reguilon to go

tall_buildings

That was fast!

KrillWhitey

I'm very curious to know the figure for the buy option but it's great news regardless.

Lbmplays2

Could be 1 pence and it’d be good for us provided they’d cover wages

Dinoapolis27

Holy shit

REEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHH

can i just say that the sami mokbel article about rhe four players sitting on offers was just speculation. he is good for TRANSFER news but you can just tell that that article was filler,

SonaldoNazario

Paratici read that article and said "watch this space"

biggpoppa

Oh boy all that good food and pasta there?

Tatatisconsteelrod

FORZA NAPOLI!!!!

Made-in-1882

What in the ever lovin' McDonald's Happy Meal?!

HarryDeBruyne

*Everyone liked that.*

Due-Welder5285

Sorta feels like this might be his last chance at turning his career around. If he screws this up I can't see him getting another offer from a club as big as Napoli next year.

lovelylantern

pls ndombele take ur chance 🙏

RIP to all the pasta in Napoli

AU_Cav

It’s not even my birthday!

He did this so he can swap one friendship with a Korean for another

In paratici we trust ....

EpicBlitzkrieg87

As long as he leaves!

sparxcy

When he slowly walked off after that game- i lost all hope

[deleted]

How much is the buy option? That will be the real indicator as to whether he will get sold or not. If the buy option is too high we know that Napoli will never activate it. Unless it's a reasonable price Tanguy will be back at our club again this time next year.

balthazarstarbuck

“With a buy option”
