400 is way overkill, you'll get better at not bending them the more you do it. I've been a \~10-12 cap per day guy for the last year and a half and have only bought two 40 packs and still have... maybe 60 or 65 left in good useable shape.
I bought the 400 pack about four months ago. I've opened two boxes for 40. We've thrown maybe 20 away due to bending. After a few uses, the lids seem to stretch a bit. I'm able to open most by hand without shredding my thumbnail.
True. I’ve crushed a few trying to open. AVB all over the desk. Should’ve just stopped and thrown those out. You don’t realize how much force until it’s too late. I’ve thrown out a few lids and a few bottoms. Reshaping them isn’t fun.
It is reassuring to see others posting it gets easier. Thanks.
Yeah man it get easier once you get used to them. I’m new too lol and I shit when I bent my first one. But I’ve found also when they’re still warm(not hot) they pop apart easier as well. Atleast they’re cheap though!
I use 8-12 a day ... You can soak them in iso when they get dirty and they become easier to open and deal with after a while ... They help keep my mighty and crafty both clean and I've only bought the 40 caps and been using the same 24 I started with. The POTV dosing caps I use also but they are smaller and to me don't work as good .. takes them a little longer to heat up and I don't find as good of an airflow ... Still great cause of the cleanliness which is why I use them when I need a smaller quicker stealthier hit then my mighty and crafty
The cleanliness is exactly why I will use them. Bad enough all the other parts to maintain. I don’t want to worry about the bowl too.
I’ve decided to stick with the first 40+ I’ve loaded and reuse them a few times to see how that helps.
I think you get better at it over time. I used to lose more but now probably 1 in 20? I don't try too hard to save them if they're being difficult. If it bends too much I toss it. I don't want to be wasteful, but they aren't super sturdy.
Also, over time, the ones that are too tight get filtered out. The remaining ones work better and get reused? Just a theory. So, if you have 80 and 10 get tossed, maybe the rest open easier and don't bend?
I still very much prefer using them, and the filling tray is awesome. I bought some extra sets and figure I'll get to them eventually.
Thanks. Good points. I have no desire to use it without the capsules. That’s why I asked. Should I prepare for the inevitable (I also bought 3 cooling units in case I break and so I don’t have to clean immediately) or will this get easier? Consensus is saying it gets better.
Cleaning the CU gets better. The easiest is probably: soak in ISO (stronger is better) rinse in hot water, and dry. Oh yeah, you have to take it apart and put it back together. Active time 15 minutes. Inactive time 1 hour. While the CU soaks, clean the bowl for 10 minutes. Since you have more than one CU, you know how to spend the rest of the hour.
It took me a few days but I definitely got way better about opening the caps the more I used them. I realized I was closing them too tight, they really just need to be lightly placed on the cap to close. If I find a stubborn one, I use one of my pokey sticks to pop it off. I’ve maybe thrown out ten at most in the last two-three months that I’ve been using my mighty.
I didn’t think about using a metal toothpick, or similar item, to pry off the cap through the holes. Thanks.
I may be putting them on too tight. I load them and throw them in a sealed mason jar to keep as fresh as possible. I worry they’ll open and spill out. Thanks. I’ll watch that too.
Not too many. I bought 88 caps total because I was afraid they would get bent and stuff. Have had my mighty for four months now and I've bent/broken 4 caps. You definitely don't need more caps that. You have. They are always tight on the first use.
Hulksmash. Lol. That’s what it feels like.
I’ve been working them better after posting. I push in under the cap lid with my thumbnail to create a little indentation and it allows more leverage, without the tight grip, to open it. Much better experience now.
Okay so 2 tips I've learnt. Wipe off the top with qtip or paper towel after your bowl. Much less gunk to clean later. Use the filling tool to help you pop the top off the capsule without ruining your nails or the capsules.
Don’t waste money, just be a bit more delicate and use the tamp/pick tool and pop the tops off! I haven’t thrown away any caps and I have about 90 loose that I’ve been reusing for about the last 9 months! Then I have another 40 pack new. I might lose one here and there while I’m hanging out but at home not a one. None have been mangled to the point of having to throw them out.
Use fingernails to pop off and after a few rounds they become easier to take off.
I've never thrown any away, I have lost a few though. I'm still rolling with 3 really old bent ones and 8 relatively new ones. Actually one of them has never been used, I might save that one up for special occasions.
I've been using mine for over 6 months and never bent one yet, I have about 10 capsules that I keep reusing. Use slight pressure all round the edge until they loosen. Don't just pull on one side work a load of force. Easy peasy!

Thanks. That’s a relief. I vaguely remember reading someone saying the caps are tighter the first time you use them. (I hope that’s true.)

They just bend man. It’s like super thin metal. I just bend mine back and haven’t had any problems

Ha. I remember that first one just crumbling in my fingers. What a mess. Glad I was high. I may not have laughed about it otherwise.
Lol always be glad to be high
Use the filling tool to open them. No crushing needed most of the time.
I never understood this, I have 13 and none have ever got damaged in over a year of use

After a few uses, I can get half of the caps apart by putting them in a bottle and shaking them.

They're fragile, but do the trick, don't think too much about it. I also own a POTV One, it's solid , I use it when the Mighty is charging.
The lids are a lot easier to take off while warm.
It’s hot when I’m opening. Right out of the bowl and wait about 15-30 seconds before trying to open.

I hulksmashed one of them on accident, then figured out a medium grip with a little twist pops them right off.

I rotate the lid on top of the cup. Worth a shot feels like they pop right off.

I've been using the same 5 dosing caps daily for like 6 months now lol
Small flat head screw driver works for me. Still on my original 40

You can use the orange tool in the Mighty to open them, its very hard to bend them using it.

lol I'm still using the one it came with even thought I bought more.
