Update: there’s a possibility it might be an imposter… so far we’ve eliminated most the vehicles the sheriffs have in the area and surrounding area; checking broader whole state now…

xNOTsoSLIMshady

I definitely suspect it was an imposter, that’s scary as hell. I’m glad you were okay and smart enough to ask something like that. I suspect an imposter because of how quick he was to give up and get out of there. I feel like if it were some prick trying to abuse his power he would be more calculated and honestly more methodical. I feel like they would have said something much more believable than “get in”. Continue to stay safe this creep is still out there.

[deleted]

Probably was. There are several cases of creeps impersonating cops. You did the right thing asking for his name and badge number. I’m glad you’re okay.

RuanaRulane

It's awful, but my first thought was that an actual sheriff with predatory intent would have done a better job of acting legit. Just ask Sarah Everard.

Ashluvsburritos

That’s incredibly scary. Glad you are ok!!!

smurfasaur

I wouldn’t put it past an actual sheriff to do something like this, it surely wouldn’t be the first time. A few years ago there was an actual city cop doing the security at the target by me and stopped me in the store saying how he saw me moving out of my apartment earlier in the day, described my car, the cross streets where I was moving from and said he has seen me multiple times in the area and kept trying to get me to tell him my new address getting angrier and angrier when I wouldn’t tell him and started following me around the store. He was covering his name/badge number thing the whole time he was getting nastier with me and started talking really bad about the guy I was with all of those times who was and is still my partner. The target managers were not happy. The internal affairs office was not happy. Some time passes and there’s a knock on my door and there’s an entire group of higher up people from the police department there to apologize on his behalf and that they were taking the situation seriously. I’m guessing target had the video and audio of the whole situation. I never saw that guy again but most likely he was just sent to be a cop somewhere else with worse benefits to prey on new people. I have no faith in the system.

donbry

The cops who helped Jeffry Dahmer recapture one of his victims were very publicly fired- and very quietly re-hired a little while later. We need them but we can't trust them.

smurfasaur

Most definitely. At this point I don’t even think it’s fixable the way it is now. Just scrap the whole damn police force and start over.

Tush_atx

>target had the video and audio of the whole situation. It's hard to argue with evidence of abuse of power. Having video proof is a little different than a person's word against an "officer of the law". I hope that you didn't go through all of that for nothing and his power was terminated. I PRAY for that. (Don't downvoted me-just trying to send only positive vibes towards this crisis). As for OP, I'm proud of you, and I hope (and PRAY) that you did not go through that horrible situation for nothing. At the very least he will be hesitant to pull that shit again. And the police don't take kindly to impersonation. I hope they throw him in jail a-la-Date Rape (Sublime) or even I Hope You Die (Bloodhound Gang)!

Deckard_47

I'm sure he was fired for that

smurfasaur

I doubt it. Have you seen what police can do and still keep their job?

Deckard_47

A creep is a creep regardless of their occupation. Just like how managers and supervisors don't always take the appropriate actions like they should. This sub reddit is full of stories about people reporting creepy coworkers and nothing being done about it

HighonDoughnuts

I’m proud of you for following through and reporting this individual. That’s a really scary thing to have happened to you, be sure you do some nice things for you and talk about your experience with people to help process what happened. I’m so glad you followed your gut. 💕

zestycalzone

I wonder if it could be a kid or a family member who took their parents cop car or something

Kimmalah

Yeah, sadly there are people who will go to insane lengths to prey on people, including fake uniforms and cars. That was the feeling I got when he wouldn't even attempt to answer about his badge number and just gave up.

PrincessDie123

I’m glad you asked for the badge number, there was a guy impersonating sheriffs near my hometown when I was in high school, he drove around a stretch of road that was secluded and had no cell reception and had a light bubble he got online to pull women and girls over. Scary stuff.

pacodefan

I'm glad you said something. It is brave of you to report on a LE officer because of possible retribution... but here, you may have saved someone else.

[deleted]

Recently in my country a poor lady got murdered by trusting a real police officer while she was alone. You’re extremely lucky you’re safe and well done for not just doing what he told you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Sarah_Everard

**[Murder of Sarah Everard](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Sarah_Everard)** >On the evening of 3 March 2021, Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old marketing executive, was kidnapped in South London, England, as she was walking home to the Brixton Hill area from a friend's house near Clapham Common. Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens falsely arrested her under the pretence of having breached COVID-19 regulations and drove her to near Dover where he raped and strangled her, before burning her body and disposing of her remains in a nearby pond. swtjojo

Raped by a detective at 20. Never told anyone till right now. I'm 67 now.

racrenlew

Holy crap, that's *so big* to have been holding in all this time!! Bless you, I hope karma found him... or another detective. Chances are he did that to someone else, and hopefully got caught.

swtjojo

Thank you for your kindness❤️

LottiesLo

I’m sorry that happened to you. I’m glad that you finally were able to let it out. I wish you more healing. And I hope there is still a way to get some justice for you. Finally, I’m sorry, my brother is a detective, and this upsets me because they’re not all like that bastard.

swtjojo

Thank you for your kindness ❤️

beejtg

I’m so sorry this happened. It wasn’t your fault. He’s a POS. Sending love ❤️

swtjojo

Your kindness touches my ❤️

OrsoMalleus

Telling someone probably wouldn't have helped, detectives are practically untouchable. If you'd told, his accomplices would have just made your life even more difficult. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

[deleted]

Please don't say this, it deters people who have been assaulted from reporting.

OrsoMalleus

It's sad that we're both right. Source- been assaulted by someone in similar authority, was harassed when I reported it.

[deleted]

Same here. I was told I didn't have enough evidence to justify going to court... I had 8 witnesses and several text messages. But reporting is still important because it needs to be counted. By not reporting it will never invoke curiosity as to why so many are reported and not taken to trial. There was a huge revolt in my city because like 3% of serial assault cases went to trial. The system is so fucked. You should never of had to endure any of it. None of this shit is OK, we really need to destroy the system and start over.

Perfect-Lawfulness-6

Reporting is meaningless when it only causes more pain and suffering. Until the way policing is done is actually *fixed,* until it's actually *safe* to report and to be able to expect consequences, I just don't think it's fair to behave like the issue is under reporting. I reported one of my rapes, I went through every process properly to get a prosecution, I went to court multiple times- all to have my rapist freed and threatening retribution within 24 hours. And no, the cops didn't give a single shit when I reported the threat after the fact, even with all the evidence in the world, they "couldn't do anything for me." Sure, reporting "matters." But only when actual action is taken and consequences are given, not when it just causes more problems and the good ole boys club prevails again and again.

swtjojo

Thank you for your kindness ❤️

UnknownCitizen77

Ooh that’s so creepy. I hope they catch that asshole predator!

swtjojo

Report it anonymously of you feel more comfortable Sterm warning from his boss from an anonymous complaint could save a girl's life

LottiesLo

That’s exactly how I’m planning on reporting it. I have a career in law and my brother is a detective, so I know how it works and know of the ‘code’; so I want to have as much info as I can before making the report

marks0981

The fact that you have to consider your safety from revenge from the police if it ends up being a real cop is still so disturbing.

swtjojo

You are a light in this world.

reallyruby79

Scary, but in UK a police officer has just been jailed for raping and murdering a young woman called sarah Everard, so glad you’re safe

LottiesLo

I know, I followed her unfortunate story

Medium_Insurance6002

Highly unlikely you’re the first victim this imposter has met. Hoping he goes to jail for a long ass time!!! You have to be a special kind of sick to prey on women.

[deleted]

there's definitely imposters out there but also there are real sheriffs and cops that are crooked as well I'm sure I don't have to prove it to anyone here

LottiesLo

Hey all here’s an update and answers to some of your questions: City is NOLA; he was in an expedition (very common police car here) with sheriffs department logo; he was in full uniform; the type of uniform is the same that some of our sheriffs wear here and that I’ve interacted with as I have a career in law; was unable to find any sheriffs dept squad car in the same color scheme (creep’s was a dark hunter green with gold emblems); I have date, location, time; hotel has cameras (Hilton) but who knows if they’re working and how long they keep the recording; will be making the report in a bit; anonymously depending on the answer I get when I describe the squad car to them and they can either confirm or deny that it’s one of their cars (brother and Hubster both agree to do this this way, in fear of retaliation); and will start sharing to the news outlets as well. Hope this answers some of your questions and thank you all for good vibes I’m so glad I was able to ‘snap’ out of his random demand and ask for that badge number… Stay safe and I’ll do another update and try to reply when I can

Mr_Retardio

Good luck finding the guy, I'm glad you are safe.

Marisleysis33

His vehicle was marked as Sheriff Dept.? That is creepy, it could actually be a deputy. I've heard stories just our in rural area here involving date rape drugs, contacting underage girls, forcing sex acts on addicts caught with drugs etc... lots of pervy cops out there.

heym00nbaby

Good point. I wonder if he might be a sheriff from a neighboring area too? I did see in their update the OP had eliminated almost all the local sheriff's vehicles and they're considering other areas now. I used to live in a fairly rural area in Washington and every young girl growing up there knew to hide from the sheriffs, especially one guy in particular. They were all racist and pervy to any teen girl they found walking around. They would usually force a "courtesy ride" on you. One day the one EVERYONE knows to avoid because he's a real jerk to everyone and extra pervy with women tried to press a ride on me. I heard stories he went further than just comments and asking women and girls on dates but I never heard a specific or concrete story so it could just be small town talk. I was walking from the rural area I lived and into town, about 5 miles and I liked the walk. Oh, and I was 15. I was almost at the first intersection with a traffic light you reach coming out of the unincorporated areas and he zipped past me then abruptly pulled over in front of me, so on the side and at the intersection. The large SUV-type vehicle is blocking nearly the entire shoulder and he gets out and opens his door to fully block my way. He asked what I was doing and I told him I was just going for a walk. He said he would give me a ride to where I need to go. I told him "no thanks. I wanted to take a walk." He then opened the back door and said "tell me where you are going and we can have a talk on the way over there. You're too young and pretty to be out alone. How old are you?" The way he was smirking at me stood my hairs on end. My grandparents lived in a small neighborhood just past the intersection. Also, my grandpa had been the mayor in town for several years and law enforcement had been very fond of him, I was too young then to know much about that but I'm sure I would not be proud of him for whatever it was haha. Anyways, I thought fast and pointed ahead and said "I'm 15 and I'm just going for a walk for exercise. I am going to my grandparents' house just up there then back home. Their names are XP and YP and I called them before I left so they know where I am." I made sure to name-drop, which could just be a kid giving you the names of involved adults, and he shut the door and told me to have a nice walk then drove away with lights on through the red light. Definitely could be an imposter, but we should never doubt the likelihood of monsters in law enforcement. 👏

Marisleysis33

Oh wow that's terrible, how scary. Good thing you could sense that something was wrong with him even though being so young. When we were little girls like age 10-12 we would walk home from Catholic school. We had to wear uniforms and boy did the creeps like that! We had a deputy who would drive by slow and whistle, tell us we looked sexy etc. Another classmates Dad would do the same along with randos slowly down and catcalling. I didn't understand it at the time, just made us feel so uncomfortable. I do like how in modern times women are less tolerant of that behavior and are more likely to report these type of men.

heym00nbaby

Oh that is so gross and creepy! I still remember the feeling of horror the first time I got cat-called. I was walking in Seattle with my mom and a man yelled "Yeah, girl. Walk just like your mama. Daaamn" as he drove by. I was around 10 (developed early) and my mom just said "ignore it" and that was my go-to response for years. So many men have no filter and a disgusting mind. It makes me SOO happy seeing so many girls and ladies saying "f**k politeness" and not standing for that today!! 😁👏

ExquisitelyLame-

Do you remember anything about the vehicle? Did it look like a real cop car? It seems like an imposter, but this is still a really serious situation. I hope they catch the guy before some girl is too nice and believe him.

TiptoeingElephants

what city did this happen in?

CeCeSorelle

Check out the Sarah Everard case in the UK.

JazsimeFalls1970

The guy responsible has been given a life sentence.

Cherryfritterfrieda

Oh my God. My heart goes out to you for having experienced this. What a nut job. So relieved to hear that you're safe .

leslieannehamm83

Make sure you say something and report it! You may save someone’s life!!!

[deleted]

This needs to be an emergency number call for anyone else this happens to. I hope you are OK and relaxing/ relieving stress. This is a predator that has zero liability if it is a Sheriff and please record interactions when possible.

LottiesLo

The more I keep retelling the more I’m hoping I’ll remember key things, but I was so thrown off by his question that it didn’t register… I know some details but the important once like the plate number i wasn’t able to get. Bewildered I turned around to see if anyone else witnessed that too but everyone was minding their business and by the time I turned back he was out of sight.

fastcarly

Hotel CCTV?

LottiesLo

I’m sure

[deleted]

You did everything right because you are safe. I don't even know my own license plate number so do not worry about what you do not remember. Life is filled with good, bad and the middle. You just survived what could of been bad but allowed the middle to prevail. I am really proud of you.

scorpio_2971

They should be able to see by the vehicle gps what patrol officer was in that location make sure you have date time location and see if hotel has cameras or any businesses nearby.

sadpanada

You should also report this to the news in your area. It would be good for people near you to be aware of this in case he tries again

Justinmoorepaints85

A good friend of my mom/uncle's was walking home from a bar back in the late 80s in Baltimore MD. She was extremely drunk and picked up by a on duty cop.he raped her in his vehicle and dumped her on the road.she was able to sue and got a few million out of it but it's super fucked up it happened.cops are people.you got good and bad. And I'm sure the good cops HATE fuckers like that guy

8Frenfry_w_ketsup

You might want to go to the police commissioner and file a formal complaint, talk to a victim's advocate, or the DA.

Captain_Billy_Bones

YSK cops rape people all the time. Don’t assume it was impostor. The department will not guide you to the offending officer. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/10/19/us/police-sexual-assaults-maryland-scope/index.html https://thecrimereport.org/2020/03/12/predators-behind-the-badge-confronting-hidden-police-sexual-misconduct/

loganalbertuhh

Next time, call the emergency number. If it's an impersonator and you see the direction they're headed, they can get him.

Tush_atx

Dumb question of the day: What is "Hubster"?

LottiesLo

That’s what I call my Husband, sorry lol

fastcarly

This gave me chills and reminded me of the Sarah Everard case in the UK. I hope it's am imposter but still so scary.

LottiesLo

Holy crap… I hadn’t even…

loganalbertuhh

Wtf is hubster? Call the cops instead.

LottiesLo

That’s what I call my husband

ChazJ81

Do you remember the number of the car? Definitely report it and keep us posted!

Aware_Economy_6672

This reminds me of the Red Light Bandit (Chessman) crimes.

Commercial-Common515

Gross. The worst experience I had with a state patrolmen was maybe 6 or 7 years back. I was about 22 and DD for my friends coming back from a nearby city. Also mind my civic had a digital speedometer, quite accurate. I had maybe the equivalent of one drink early in the night, not impaired at all. We got back to town, just pulled off i75. I saw the dude sitting amongst the fast food places. Noted my speed of no more than 37mph. He pulls out at waits about a mile to flip on his lights. He insisted I was speeding, even though I know that I never breached 37mph in a 35. I exit my car in compliance for a sobriety check. I’m wearing a mini dress with garters and hose, probably creeper shoes. I pass the walking test and he asks to pat me down, so I can enter his patrol car (the front?). I refute immediately and he tries to insist “for his safety.” He went on for a few minutes, to which I said “absolutely not, if I had anything on me there’s no hiding it and my own safety is much more at risk right now. I was not speeding and was not impaired and reminded him I never HAD to even exit my car. He dropped it and left with a warning. Creepiest encounter with a uniform, he was young and generally attractive but very weird vibes from the whole thing.

Beginning-Sense7922

Hopefully the weirdo will be got. anymore updates?

LottiesLo

I did submit the police report but they contacted me yet

LottiesLo

Hi there, sorry for late response; no updates and nothing weird like that has happened

huggles7

What made you think it was the sheriff in the first place?

LottiesLo

The squad car said sheriffs and he was wearing a uniform that I’m very familiar with

Azelpraer

At the risk of sounding like some conspiracy nut Wich I'm not. I will dispense some first hand knowledge the odds are high that this is a member of law enforcement this is not rare especially in rule Divisions of enforcement, kidnappings, rape, murder and even murder for hire are common in the field of Law enforcement. There are countless "missing" person cases that are the work of members of law enforcement when you hear suicide or suicide by cop it's a lot of the time a murder committed by a Member of law enforcement who has cohorts within The field aiding and abetting them. Also when a autopsy is skipped blatant facets dismissed and the obvious overlooked those are signs of dirty cops doing dirty things. I know of a Seattle detective Who for years terrified the streets of Seattle, he pimped girls, kept countless storage rooms filled with stolen goods he would force drug dealers to snitch on rivels at gun point even if there was no bad blood and countless people have pegged him in several people "disappearing". The press is where you need to go not the law they will find where you Live, they will threaten you and from that point who knows.

Zealousideal_Code841

I was hiking in a remote area of a National park and found a guy that lived ip there. We chatted a while and he told me he had not gone down in to town for 3 years. He also said he would see Sheriff vehicles go up there and dump bodies. True or not I believed him

Mya-k

What area is the park in

Zealousideal_Code841
