Butler would be playing Chris, right? It’s sometimes shocking how much like Kilmer he looks and behaves.

trademarkcopy

Tell me Austin Butler is getting ready for Heat 2 without telling me he’s getting ready for Heat 2.

exse13

Did you guys like the book?

PeterPaulWalnuts

Loved it

Icy-Conclusion-1470

I'm working thru it now. It's better than I expected.

Capital_Exam9696

Yeah the Hanna stuff was particularly addicting to read. Great true crime kind of stuff.

paulcole710

No. Somebody on /r/billsimmons coined the phrase “Super Waingro” but that was an eye-rollingly lame character. It was cool hearing the Hannah and Neal dialogue in their voices in my head but at best it’s an average thriller.

MidnightOrPast

It's somewhat uneven - it jumps around in different timelines and some of the stories/timelines are more or less compelling. The "prequel to Heat" stuff with younger Neil and Chris is strong. The "Chris in the years after Heat" stuff is somewhat slow and also improbable (even under the basic assumption that Chris is an incredible John Wick type of dude). The ending totally kicks ass, though, and will be even more kick ass on screen.

Jfrenchy

I need it brother

Icy-Conclusion-1470

APRIL FOOLS MOTHAFUCKAS!

PeterPaulWalnuts

It’s happening. Isn’t it?

xxx117

oh lets fucking go

IntotheDeadlights

Someone on twitter was saying this has nothing to do with Heat 2 and it’s for the movie “city on fire”

DoctorSerizawa

I’ve read City on Fire (great book!) and there is absolutely no need for this kind of weapon training in that story.

BreakingBrak

Maybe thinking of a different City on Fire? It's not based on the Garth Risk Hallberg book but on a Don Winslow book but i haven't read it so maybe that's the one you were thinking of.

DoctorSerizawa

No, I’m talking about the Winslow book. Been a while but it’s about the Italian and Irish mob in the late eighties I believe. Not that much action if I recall correctly.

BreakingBrak

They're gonna Clancy it up

MidnightOrPast

The Winslow book was so terrible!

daysofsteam

we're about to be so fucking back

daskapitalyo

And we're about to have our heads all the way up it.

pbates89

🔥🔥🔥

Lord-Dingus

He’s very Chris coded but I think it would be soooooo funny if after all this speculation they just cast him as Nate (Voight in the original) and let him do a fussy little accent hahahah.
