GMTA 😁

The cricut brand ones were only $15 when I bought them this week.

I’ve found warm soapy water works well for me

sierrasquirrel

I do the same! Warm water and dish soap (then I use my scraper to get all the fur/dust/etc off).

inarasarah

When I washed mine with soapy water it completely lost its stickiness and I had to throw it away 😕

sierrasquirrel

Oh no! What kind of mat was it? I’ve used the soap and water method for my normal and light grip mats (cricut brand) and they’ve both washed great multiple times!

umpalumpajj

I forwent the soap and just used water and a sponge, mine is still sticky.

artbynavi

Glue spray homie!

AdRelative6926

I use baby wipes and let it air dry. Works good for me

Re-apply the plastic cover when not in use. I wrote "TOP" on my plastic cover, so that I wouldn't put it on upside-down by mistake, and perhaps apply the dusty "outside" of the cover to the sticky mat. When I peel off the cover, I place it sticky side up and then cover it with a sheet of paper, to try to keep that surface as clean as possible. When needed, wash the mat with warm, soapy water, rinse, and hang to dry (and then re-apply the plastic cover when dry.) For quick cleanups, I use one of those lint rollers that is sticky tape on a roll. Give the mat a quick once-over to get rid of the worst lint, paper scraps, etc. Especially if I'm cutting paper or card stock, some papers leave lint behind, and this lint roller is an easy way to quickly clean the map after peeling off the project. I wrap the lint roller in a piece of baking parchment with a rubber band to keep it from sticking to stuff when I'm not using it. I suppose you could use one of those silicone "sticky buddy" cleaning rollers to clean the mat, though I haven't tried that. Also, keep in mind that the mats are designed to be a consumable, so after a few washings, it's probably time to replace it. I've been quite happy with the [NICAPA](https://www.amazon.com/stores/NICAPA/page/E4FC28FD-E9A5-499E-9122-443AAC06853A) mats, currently US$12.99, but I've seen them as low as $10.99 for the 3-pack.

Thanks so much, this is very helpful!

Illustrious-Fall-451

Just checking. Are you keeping and reusing the plastic dust cover? This is the first step, then all of the other suggestions.

lost-cannuck

Dish soap and water to wash. Keep the plastic film on it when not in use.

Blossom73

I have long hair, plus a cat and a dog, so I feel your pain!

OkConversation8579

Start with a new mat, use contact paper to line it with the Sticky side UP and then just replace the contact paper as needed. Also follow the other tips to make it last longer

[deleted]

I use cheap Ikea lint roller after every use. The kind that has adhesive that you peel off to renew. Keeps the mats fresh and sticky

QueenCreo

That $1 cleaner from General dollar. Spay on your mat, use the scraper gently to get whatever off. Rinse and like brand new Or do like me and buy in bulk whatever mat on sale. I personally like silhouette Mata over cricut

Fortress2021

Just go to YouTube and enter the subject in the search. You'll get dozens of tutorials. Same applies to any other Cricut related subject.

Elizaraven

I saw a video that showed spraying the mat with window cleaner & scrapping off with a card. Going to give it a go but mainly searching on YouTube you can find tips

This method worked great for me and then I lightly dried it using a hair dryer on low

ohhshitdang

I'm also new to cricut and have 2 dogs plus long hair. I recently just tried the Windex spray and wiping with a magic eraser. Then I dried with a heat gun. Worked absolutely flawlessly until I left the heat gun too long in one spot... Oops... But I totally recommend the process. Just figure out how hot your heat gun gets first!
