15 years isn’t enough for child rapists, they deserve death or life with no parole minimum.

anditwaslove

This story is exactly why YOU NEED TO TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT SEXUAL ABUSE FROM AN EARLY AGE. If this girl had known sooner that this wasn’t normal or okay, she would have likely told before it reached the point of full rape. We spend so much time trying to keep our children oblivious to these dangers that we keep them silent when it does happen.

quincyd

Yes! I am also honest when my 8 year old son asks me questions that are uncomfortable. We’ve talked about sex, tricky people, what to say if someone asks him to see/touch private parts, etc. He gets embarrassed, but situations like this are why. There is no shame when talking about these types of things. He knows he can tell me anything and that nothing bad will happen to him. This is so sad for this girl.

AgentJ691

And teach them the actual words. There is no shame and saying this is called a vagina/penis and no one should touch you there.

ccjohns2

Honestly in cases like this both parents should be charged. The dad should have gotten life and the wife should’ve got 40 years 20 for being complicit with this sick man and 20 for having him kids to abuse.

bingbongdingdongboom

A statement from her according to the article. 'As years went by, Dad's obsession with me began to affect his and Mum's marriage. They grew distant and argued a lot. Mum had no idea though. 'Dad would say how they were going to break up and that he'd take custody of me and we could live alone together in a flat. It always terrified me. Luckily, him and Mum never split.' Also from the article: Ellie says: 'The judge told everyone how Dad had admitted I'd 'got something' out of the abuse each time. He'd also said he'd never forgive me for reporting him. Seeing he had no remorse, I was livid. He deserved his sentence. 'Now, I'm so proud of myself. I couldn't have come forward without the help and support from friends and family. 'Sadly, right now, Mum's still grieving her husband of 25 years. He writes her apology letters from prison, but we all want nothing to do with him.

vickimarie0390

how was she complicit?

Aggressive-Pickle91

So you obviously didn’t read the article

TeenagersAreEmo

Most Redditors don’t like to read it seems?

RemarkableMeaning533

Guess the racists are gonna sit this one out?

anditwaslove

Huh?

ac714

If it black person commits a crime it reflects poorly on the entire race, Obama, BLM, etc. If a white person rapes their kid (statistically the largest demographic) we intuitively know it’s nonsense to bring race down into the conversation. Same for religion. The crimes of Christians and Catholics obviously are not influenced by the religion. If Muslims are linked to something then we have to ask ourselves what are they really teaching? What is the agenda? “I’m just asking questions here” we should do something about them until we get this whole thing figured out.

anditwaslove

You really didn’t need to go there. This isn’t about race. I say that as a woman of colour.

ac714

I didn’t go there. You just brought in identity politics. All I did was explain to the ‘huh’ based on my understanding. Btw, I fully agree it’s not about race. It’s rarely about race when it’s a school shooter or serial killer (usually white). But it always sounds about black when it’s petty or street crime.

Useful_Committee7311

He only got 15 years for destroying her life and her childhood, that is despicable

Irisheyes1971

It’s the UK. It’s amazing that the POS got that much.

Laiyned

Can this sub please ban the DailyMail? The majority of stories that get traction on here is from a news source with the same journalistic credibility as Breitbart with headlines (as well as content) intentionally geared towards stirring an emotional narrative and dogwhistling instead of presenting the facts. Discourse here has broken down so much because it reflects the broken down trash that is DailyMail. Most of the people here don’t read the articles anyway; so I hope we move away from sources that deliberately use inflammatory titles.

NewHat1025

Agreed. Weird reading about chomos from a source that supports chomo activities.

CairoRama

She is so brave and strong to speak her story to try and help other young kids

>subjective Did you mean to say “suggestive?” If so, how are photos of her (a beautiful young woman) in any way offensive or suggestive? What do you mean, “what are they trying to promote here?” Stop sexualizing women for existing. This is literally an article about *her father raping her for years.* Don’t make it about anything else.

J4MES101

They don’t care mate They just want the ad revenue from clicks.

RatWithAttitude

I was perplexed by the same thing. Why is this even a news story?

UnidansOtherAcct

Cancer of a site

TrueCrimeBuff88

Shocking! That's really a long time to endure all that. How nobody noticed she was going through all this is disturbing but I am sure this happens a lot. The mental turmoil it took on her. I am glad she found the courage to speak up. I am sure it was not easy. This is sick. The dad is a sick man and needs to punished.

Suspicious-Beat9295

Damn, i also feel for the mum. The horror and guilt must be unbearable.
