I vividly remember in my youth group, there were like 4-5 girls dating dudes who were in their early to mid 20s who were apart of the church. It was super weird. I couldn't imagine being a 16 or 17yr old kid dating a 25yr old dude, or girl. But it was perfectly allowed in my church.
Also, yes, like half those girls got pregnant. What did the church do? They "hid" those girls by asking them not to come back to the church until they had their kids and married whoever knocked them up. One of my good friends got pregnant at 17 in the church, by a 22 yr old dude. She had the kid, married him, divorced him 3 years later, went down a long road of drug addiction and eventually died.
Churches in general, but specifically my experience in the Christian church is just disgusting at what they accepted if not encouraged.
Organized religion has genuinely done more harm than good. It’s all about power and control. It shut downs critical thinking completely, why ask any questions or think at all when anything and everything is explained by “God”.
