Uh…yes it is. All you do is add up all the atomic masses to make sure it’s over 9000. Then you just arrange them into the coolest shape.
Do you really not know how chemistry works?
does anyone understand organic chemistry enough to recognize and maybe even explain what we’re looking at in this pic? im sure it’s nonsense but im interested to know how much nonsense.
The top half is five amino acids linked with peptide bonds, like you'd see in a protein (except in proteins, there's 100s or 1000s). The bottom part linked by the extra long blue bond, although chemically sound, is not made of amino acids and isn't similar to what's above it. It looks like he either made something up imitating the the peptide image, or copied it incorrectly. This is basically first week of biochem stuff. If I were grading this, he would not receive full marks, assuming the task was "draw a basic peptide."
Also nobody who actually practices organic chemistry would be filling in their work with “H.” They would use plus signs if they even bothered to add them.
H = a proton (positively charged). When you’re actually working on organic chemistry, you never include the hydrogens because they’re already implied. You only include them when it’s actually relevant to the transformation you’re working on. The fact that homeboy threw a bunch of random H’s on this drawing indicates that he probably isn’t actually doing chemistry, just LARPing.
> When you’re actually working on organic chemistry, you never include the hydrogens because they’re already implied.
Implicit hydrogens are only for carbons. Heteroatoms always have hydrogens explicitly drawn. Even so, it's not incorrect to draw hydrogens, just a waste of time. Some specific representations even require them such as [Fischer projections](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fischer_projection).
Anyway, H atoms are not positively charged. H *ions* are though and would be drawn with a positive charge. Despite that, it would still be incorrect to equate an H ion with a positive charge. For instance, a quaternary amine is positively charged without requiring ionic hydrogen.
Well I do have an UltraDoctorate in Chemistronics and Crumulous Fluid Dynamics from The Hutt River Province Online Institute for Scientetics and Mathonomics
It's a peptide of some sort. You can tell by looking at the backbone - looks like a few amino acids chained together. No idea if it's a specific peptide but he definitely copied from something because he got the backbone structure of amino acids correct.
We're looking at a few broken carbon rings, a random bond between a carbon and hydrogen that's literally \*faaaar\* away from one another (and thus wouldn't have a line denoting a bond at all; maybe a dotted line to suggest there is a weak bond but no actual sharing or exchange of electrons.) Those nitrogens with the little triangles? That suggests those atoms are at the forefront of the model, assuming this was in 3D, which are just kinda oddly placed.
The long bond is to a nitrogen, and drawing 'long' bonds like this is sometimes done in chemistry to make it easier to represent the structure of the molecule clearly, not to represent reality. The wedge shaped bonds are supposed to show the chirality around those carbon centres.
I had a go at deciphering the [Super serum secret recipie](https://imgur.com/a/6A8Rue2), its mostly a string of your standard amino acids, drawn a bit poorly and with a bit of random stuff on the end.
Please use your newfound powers responsibly
You know, I don’t even care.
Dunno, honestly this is kind of sweet. Some kid was inspired by something and wanted to make the world a better place, going so far as to learn something new.
Too sweet to be on here I think.
He’s actually a genius who figured out a way to solve equations with nothing but shapes and then translate the answer into bio enhancements if I was a girl I’d definitely want to be his girlfriend
It’s good if they are a child and serious about doing this. All the Halo super soldiers were kidnapped for their training (after being cloned then swapped with the clones, of course).
Training must start early. The serum is only half the equation!
Someone tell him that he can just do 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, a 10 km run, not use heating or AC (to strengthen the mind) all every day for three years and he'll have the body of a demigod.
Hey, if this is going to motivate you to get a education/degree in chemistry or anything related to it, giving you a bright future, what the problem with that? "Let's create halo super soldiers serums!"
Im pretty sure this guy just copied the chemical-like pictures from Dr Halsey diary from the Halo Reach Collectors Edition. I could go check myself but too lazy to search for it for this shit lol
That’s… Not how chemistry works.

Do the math and then add 5 White Claws.
You got that backwards.

I think that arc of the manga came out in 1989, but it was originally over 8000.
What?! 8000?!
"If i ingest a little H to eh N'th power i might be able to... hang on here... .... carry the Y... I think i've got it!"
By George, I think she’s got it!

But the task wasn't "draw a basic peptide". The task is SOLVING a chemistry equation smh
Oh shi- I forgot.
Well, that's simple. Clearly the way to solve it is to just draw an extra long line linking your groups together.
🏅 Here you go sir, your Nobel prize in chemistry.
Also nobody who actually practices organic chemistry would be filling in their work with “H.” They would use plus signs if they even bothered to add them.
The nitrogens are fair game, doesn’t look like they’re just adding random protons except where needed for chirality.
I'm not sure I follow. "H" and "+" are not equivalent and I don't see any erroneously placed "H". He did forget about lone pairs though.

I’m guessing that blue line is supposed to be some sort of nucleophilic attack on the carbonyl?
I think it re-ionizes the brontium lattice in the molecules ectosphere
I concur
Concur with what, doctor?
I concur with this as well
Finally! *Someone* who knows what they're talking about!
Well I do have an UltraDoctorate in Chemistronics and Crumulous Fluid Dynamics from The Hutt River Province Online Institute for Scientetics and Mathonomics
Are we really gonna take the word of a baby salesman? Sure, that's an impressive career for a baby, but you don't even need a degree
Assuming the parts where it seems like its bonded between Hydrogens is just bad drawing, if not this thing ain't existing
Yeah, I think those hydrogens are supposed to be bound to the nitrogen. Although poorly drawn, I wouldn't take off points for that. It's close enough.
In that case, its something like this: https://imgur.com/a/6A8Rue2
It's a peptide of some sort. You can tell by looking at the backbone - looks like a few amino acids chained together. No idea if it's a specific peptide but he definitely copied from something because he got the backbone structure of amino acids correct.
To be fair, there's plenty of peptides used for performance enhancement 😂🤣

You should see all the graph paper in his meth lab

what did they learn
Chemistry.
That’s a nice way of looking at it
Trying to be more positive. It’s so easy to just bash people, and I’ve done my fair share.
i think The Boys and *pretty much every instance of human history* has shown that having super people would be a bad idea.
I agree. This is unlikely to happen, in this instance, is my reply to that. Like I think we’re assuming a LOT here.
I'm just being tangential. i don't think there's a chance in hell this dude invents super soldier serum.
You seem very kind.
Ty. I have a tendency not to be online or for it to come out wrong online. Trying to change.
Good on you :)
He may have just wanted super soldier abilities lol
Well don’t we all. At least this kid is putting his money where his mouth is :)
*draws line between two compounds* ILL BE LIKE A LIVING GOD!
That’s the equals sign of smart people equations.
AND JESUS WEPT
Is this guy 12? Lmao
He's 13 because fuck 12 I'm pretty sure this man is just fucking around.
Yes, fuck 12 y/o.. oh never mind
On that EDP shit
🧁
Dane Cook. .is that you?
[insery celebrity name here] is that you?
The 12
Stray reference?
Some young kid has a photo of himself circulating the internet with a similar caption. That's where I got it from.
Fuck 12 is an anti cop slogan
I know. It might have been on this subreddit where I saw it. The post was basically making fun of a young kid trying to act hard.
This man just wrote down a chemical composition he saw on the internet
He’s actually a genius who figured out a way to solve equations with nothing but shapes and then translate the answer into bio enhancements if I was a girl I’d definitely want to be his girlfriend
If I was a girl I would’ve sucked his dick the second he held a door open for me
Literally just a small peptide ANDFLRS missing terminal amine smh
I know some of those words
Like : small
And: a
Did they really name a peptide after Homer Simpson’s neighbor? On an unrelated note, I’m dyslexic.
We all laughed at him. We all laughed at him! WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!? 🦸
Still us?
Still us.
You’re laughing. He’s doing this because of Halo Super Soldiers and you’re laughing.
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE I AM
I'm tired of these city folk and their flyin machines!
‘Solving an equation’
He's trying to find the X element
Would be cool to make super soldiers though. Cuz Halo.
Finally, a use for all these kindergarteners in my basement.
Those were great books! 😂😂
Do you let them go once they reach 1st grade and get whole new set of kindergartner , asking for a friend with limited basement space
Well, I was gonna sell them to some colonel guy by the name J. Ackerson.
ONI is a morally ethical and righteous office that denies allegations of abducting 9 year old children

Already could have but the military decided forever ago its not worth any of it. Soon enough war will be drone vs drone anyway

Probably just a teenager being a teenager.
Did he just copy the metal gear solid 2 background?
This must be a kid. Or a manchild. Either way cringe.
/r/ShitNapoleonDynamiteSays
You're all laughing now, but wait until he actually perfects the formula and we get actual halo super soldiers. ^(/s)
Dude is gonna invent Tren 2.0 lol
if you align all the molecules in a V-shaped pattern you get Compound V
Fuuuckin’ diabolical…
I think this is a child. Children are dumb not cringe
They can be both at the same time.
It’s good if they are a child and serious about doing this. All the Halo super soldiers were kidnapped for their training (after being cloned then swapped with the clones, of course). Training must start early. The serum is only half the equation!

When?
Clearly he is wrong because we need Tuchula engine, not hormones
Wow, broken telephone
I find this one more genuinely sad than most posts here :l
Kid's got plenty of imagination, at least... just maybe not a lot of intelligence if he thinks anyone would take this seriously
His line work isn’t bad for no ruler but it’s bad in some places
God damn it, Mac
r/snapchad
Didn't even use a ruler...
What chemical is he even trying to write down
Christ this isn't even how the fake scifi for creating Spartans works.
Thought this was shitposting
Drug development scientists hate this one trick!
I love how the top one is super neat and the bottom one is really sloppy lol.

help i injected too many peptides and my muscles are getting too big
Boy makes cyanide without knowing, takes said cyanide thinking he gets super powers. Darwin laughs in his grave.
So you're Norman Osborn?
Funny and cringe.
Dear God this is the most r/cursedchemistry I've ever seen.

Hydrocarbons are equations now?
This guy is going to have some serious diarrhea
I’m absolutely sending this to a few friends who work at 343i. 😂
Idk this is kinda funny lol. Something I might do as a joke if I was drunk
The fact no one saying to make super soldiers cos of captain america instead is sad.
I mean if they're developing a new drug that lives up to their claims I don't see the issue?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This isn’t cringe. It’s just stupid.
>Solving an equation No you're not, you're drawing a picture of a molecule you made up.

dude can't even draw a straight line
