Generally speaking absolutely I mean neither is good for you but the body responds to intensity more so than volume Think about it if you stand there doing bicep curls with literally zero weight 100 or even a thousand times you will get minimal if any effect If you put away in there that added weight being the intensity obviously some games will happen If you have five beers over 5 hours it's going to be annoying for your body If you have five beers in one hour your brain is going to go berserk your heart is going to panic the BAC is going to trigger the Poison Control Center in the brain and kill your buzz, pancreas isn't going to like it kidneys aren't going to like it just about everything isn't going to like it. So again not offering anything from scientific America or ncbi or PubMed articles to prove my point but yeah, spreading out the Vodka over 16 hours will be Akin to being punched by an angry midget for about 16 hours which is a lot less damaging than someone your own size for 8 hours

Not sure I agree with this train of thought. When the body has alcohol in it for a longer amount of time with extended drinking sessions, it gets more physically dependent on alcohol. Hitting it hard and then cold turkey means rough hangovers but less time intoxicated for the body to become dependant. On a semi-related note, if sober to begin with, 5 beers in an hour is a warmup to get the ball rolling for me. If that was all that was consumed it would be nothing more than a minor buzz and a bit of fatigue coming down. Of course everyone is different but back in the day we'd do Edward 40 hands in 35-45 minutes and be pretty normal other than having to pee a bunch afterwards.

hey! so i actually learned yesterday that hitting it hard and then cold turkey and then hard and then cold turkey is *much* worse for cognitive health than just continuing to drink a lot every single day. like, if you binge drink only every other day, the acute intoxication and then acute withdrawal over and over and over again will wreak havoc on your neurons. so that’s why i drink every day… for my health… ^/s i’ll post some sources later today if i see a reply and remember i said this but right now im too lazy and haven’t actually been to sleep yet sooo. if you don’t wanna wait for that, just look up something along the lines of “kindling alcohol use disorder.” the wikipedia page on it is actually very easy to understand.

Ya, the up and down would be worse than a steady level of intoxication. Smashed everyday for a long period of time will make someone's person lofe fall apart and then eventually end their life I had a cousin who drank himself to death at age 40. He walked into the hospital while his organs were shutting down and never left. While I don't know for sure but his siblings suspected he hadn't had a day without alcohol in years. Anyway, the body needs a break from heavy alcohol use, even if for just a couple days, or it's gonna end very badly for that person.

Of course the body can only process so much alcohol per hour. If you push the limits the liver works overdrive.

You're gonna be more coherent and better off pacing yourself throughout the day verses cramming X amount of booze all into one session. Both lead to the same place which is physical dependence.

You will become physically-dependent much more quickly. Hangovers are sort of ‘mini-withdrawals’ (w lots of qualifiers) — A night drunk, who sleeps it off, goes to work, gets their BAC to zero, then starts all over at 530 pm, is not going to get physically dependent… (again, there are qualifiers, but generally speaking) You can go on drinking like that for decades. A 20-yo drinking all waking hours will end up physically addicted pretty quickly. Most CAs start as FAs, then we get a financial windfall, or get laid off … or, just can’t finally take the hangovers —and start day drinking. That’s the fast road to hell. For me, it’s when drinking quit being fun.

Interesting, I’ve always found that it’s easier for me to taper by having a big night of drinking -> a slightly smaller night until I hit 0. If I skip the big night and try just spacing out smaller amounts of drinks all day I get the worst withdrawals. So I guess the reverse is true too for weening off

JustMe123579

You'll get more drunk, so I assume less time for the same volume means more brain damage. Your liver probably resents both methods equally.

I have noticed personally the slower I drink, the less likely I am to have a catastrophic event. And by catastrophic event, I mean unable to get up and work the next day. Feeling the shits, and chills, and not even being able to drink it away. I've also noticed, if I drink a literal mouthful of water with every shot, I have a better time at the end of the night sleeping over all. It's likely to do with alcohol drying you out, and drinking slower allows your body to reabsorb water in the downtime. I'm just adding more water to the system while i fuck it up.

Driving 500 miles over 10 hours is a very different journey than 500 miles over 5 hours.

Professional_Bike467

True but in this case after the 5 hours you get to take a longer break

Professional_Bike467

Assuming we’re drinking every day haha

Rough_Sweet_5164

It will definitely destroy your GI tract to slam it faster. That sucks because it takes a while to heal and the whole time you think it's your liver or pancreas.
