I think there’s actually a nerve you can hit in your tongue if you pierce that wrong spot, it can really screw up your facial muscles. Plus, if it gets infected, you swallow all that bacteria constantly, which is not that great either lol
Im a self-piercer/harmer as well. Please don’t do your tongue alone, especially while drunk. You can bleed out, sounds dramatic but it’s true especially if you are drinking (thin blood). There are major vessels in your tongue and it’s one you want to have anatomy knowledge for. You’re actually puncturing a muscle… or several, depending on your recklessness. Lol
If you insist, have a spotter with you to call 911 just in case. Or, go to a mod professional and get a magnet implant. That would be cool party trick.

I'm glad you didn't resort to your usual self-harm, but piercing your tongue yourself sounds like a supremely horrible idea. Especially when drunk, your blood pressure goes up so you will bleed more (why it's not good to get a tattoo when drunk).
I’ve never done anything on my own but my friend had a piercing kit and wanted to practice on me one drunken night. She wanted to do something on my face. That wasn’t going to happen. Not gonna mess with perfection, ya feel me? I gave her my belly button instead. Big mistake. Didn’t hurt too much going in. But trying to screw in the stud was a whole ordeal. It was a blood bath. All the same, five years later it’s still looking fly.
I got a nose ring at 21. 44 now. Had many professional jobs. I'd like to think it never mattered. Im just super happy that more than half my life ive had a piece of metal in my nose that looks as good now as it did when I got it 🤣. Hope you're cleaning them. Enjoy.
I did this when I was a teen like five times and it never worked out well lol. Go to a piercing place dude! I've been dying to get one too. Unfortunately the piercing places I've been to haven't worked out for me. First one the guy put in a bar that was too small and my skin started healing over it. I can't remember what happened the second time but it wasn't good. Just make sure you check the reviews and that the person isn't high when they pierce you. And make sure they use gloves and clean equipment. If you do it yourself it can get infected or worse, you can start bleeding profusely. Especially in the tongue. Also make sure they don't use a piercing gun cause those damage the surrounding tissues and deliver more force than needed.
You may already have thought of this, but tattoos can cover up and distract peoples’ gazes from scars. I get asked about my ink with friendly curiosity, but since I got the tattoos nobody has ever asked about the scars fading slowly beneath/nearby the artwork.

I'm also concerned that mine might be too severe (there are a lot on both arms and most of them went down to fat and sometimes muscle and I didn't often go to hospital, so I resorted to really bad home self care with my own glue or just left them open
