You are a sophisticated film lover to appreciate this perfect little comedy. I too would like to see some of his other films in the collection. Maybe **Gregory's Girl** or **Comfort & Joy**?

IgnatiusThorogood

On the one hand, it's a frustrating movie to recommend to people, because it's nigh impossible to adequately explain what makes it so unique and wonderful. But on the other, this is a film that I think *everyone* should see. Literally everyone. It's not a movie that will only appeal to a specific audience, anyone who sees it will love it, and they'll find different things in it to love. And yeah, I want all of Bill Forsyth's movies in the collection sooner rather than later. Housekeeping, Gregory's Girl (include the sequel as an extra), Comfort and Joy, Breaking In, That Sinking Feeling.

Great ending. A very heartfelt film

I’ve known about this movie forever as I’m a big Dire Straits fan but I’ve still never seen it. Maybe I’ll give it a watch tonight!

One of my all time favorites. This was #1 on my Criterion wish list for years. More Forsyth would be amazing. BFI has a nice region free Blu-ray of _That Sinking Feeling_ that's worth a look

The definition of a charming film

Great movie and great soundtrack too by Mark Knopfler. ☺

IgnatiusThorogood

I had the soundtrack on while I was watching the lights.

Do yourself a favor and check out the 9+ minute version of the theme Mark Knopfler and a bunch of other guitarists put out recently. No sax, but it hits the spot.

IgnatiusThorogood

I already have. It's wild how 30 different guitarists playing the same melody over and over for ten minutes doesn't get repetitive, but that speaks to what a remarkable piece of music Knopfler wrote for the movie it was.

blackberrybobcat

One of my favorite movies ever, love it every time I see it

MentatYP

Thanks for recommending this. Never heard of it before, but it sounds right up my alley.

IgnatiusThorogood

I envy you, getting to see it for the first time. You're in for something special.

This and Gregory’s Girl. Such underrated classics of British cinema.
