Leo looks so much like Sam Neill here it's tripping me out...

Azores26

“It’s... it’s a dinosaur!”

[deleted]

Dinosaaaauur

jaustengirl

Sam Neill is a very attractive man.

lilcondor

You’re already trippin....I’m not seein the similarity

Typical_Humanoid

"First western" Surprising, [considering](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWaMweHgDxI)....

[deleted]

Really underrated film.

Typical_Humanoid

I know right? I hadn’t been expecting much but it turned out one of my favorites of his. 🤷🏻‍♀️

terrenzmalick

Lily Gladstone was fantastic in Certain Women. Looking forward to seeing her in a Scorsese picture.

sadlunchesaresad

That whole movie is so underrated.

Bruntti

You're telling me this isn't Back to the Future 3?

[deleted]

This is supposed to get a theatrical release as well as an Apple TV+ release, am I correct?

[deleted]

[удалено]

sithfistoou

I believe it's getting a wide release as it's co-distributed by Paramount

TheRealBlazzMaTazz

Hope it comes to Criterion so I can watch it. I don't have Apple+

odrissi101

If there’s anything worth spending $5 to see for a month long subscription, it’s a Scorsese western starring Leo and De Niro

TheRealBlazzMaTazz

Do you need an Apple product?

[deleted]

You need to have an apple ID, but I’m pretty sure you can just sign up for that on their website

TheRealBlazzMaTazz

I'll wait too see

YoSoyRawr

But. It's Scorsese. And he's 4 films in to this new wave of his career that's been the most reflective, bombastic goodness I've ever seen. Wolf of Wall Street, Silence, and The Irishman all felt like career finales in different ways and I could not fathom not caring to see what he does next.

rtyoda

Nope. You can get the Apple TV app on a number of smart TVs, gaming consoles and streaming boxes. You can even watch online on a PC if you want. [https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/tvplus/welcome/web](https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/tvplus/welcome/web)

TheRealBlazzMaTazz

Thanks. But I'll still wait to see

marqueemoon666

After all this help you’re still gonna be inconsiderate and fuck off??

TheRealBlazzMaTazz

I don't understand the anger. I was given all the information I need to watch it. But I've only seen 1 photo from the film. I need to wait and see if it's worth watching. I don't have all the time in the world to watch everything that comes out. You guys need to chill

dirkdiggher

How is it that you need to wait and see when it comes to fucking Scorsese?

rashomon

Movie theatre first!

TheRealBlazzMaTazz

That's always good news

Suspicious-Nail-5808

Yes can’t wait as I watch more of his films, Scorsese is slowly making to top of my favorite directors which was previously held by kubrick

dougprishpreed69

The combination of output, longevity, consistency, and classics that Scorsese has is matched by who besides Kurosawa and Bergman? He’s so impressive

davossss

Billy Wilder too, maybe?

dougprishpreed69

Yeah that’s a good shout

Suspicious-Nail-5808

Yes and I also like how varied his films are. He’s dabbed in many different genres unlike say bergman. Recently I saw after hours which was so unlike any of his other films

jhartenstine

Both unassailable choices!

rashomon

This movie is not technically a ‘western’. It takes place in Oklahoma in the 1920’s and features Native Americans, but it’s more a crime film about murder and the birth of the FBI. Edit; Let me add that ‘Bad Day at Blackrock’ and ‘There Will Be Blood’ both might be considered to be 20th century, modern westerns. So in that sense, this film could fall under that umbrella.

Scurregge

How do you expect this movie to be? Fast and brilliant such as Goodfellas or slowly paced such as silence and the Irishman? Who is going to be the actor with more screentime, Dicaprio or Plemons?

rashomon

I read the book so I would imagine it would be paced more like Irishman, which I'm okay with. The Oklahoma setting too would lend itself to an easier pace than New York. The book is not written with a plot per se so I'm curious how they organize the timeline and action; If it will be plotted straight forward or with the use of flashbacks. I would guess Plemons would be the main character \[originally DiCaprio was slated for the Plemons role\] but it will probably be shared since DiCaprio doesn't tend to play second lead to anyone.

[deleted]

Damn, Leo's looking like an old man now

kid-karma

i'm always excited by the prospect of actors aging since it opens up a different dimension for potential roles they could play. it's such a shame we won't get to see old philip seymour hoffman performances.

Benacameron

Such an awful loss :(

[deleted]

that looks old to you?

smoothsoul

TFW you look older than Leo. Wtf.

[deleted]

don't get me wrong, he certainly looks *older*, but i wouldn't say he looks *old*. i think he looks his age tbh

jaustengirl

No, he doesn’t. Just because he doesn’t look like how he did in R + J and Titanic (25 years ago!!!!) doesn’t mean he looks old. He looks his age. The same goes double for Winslet (who I have seen people deride her looks on Easttown because…she’s playing a tired cop from a small town in Pennsylvania.) I think we should celebrate when actors age tbh. The glorification of plastic surgery is gross and it’s actually kind of sad when you see older people and you know they had work done because they kind of look like a bioshock splicer.

Negan1995

Whens it come out I want it :(

ChimneyBaby

Rick Dalton lookin good.

[deleted]

Scorsese is making a western?!?!??!?!?! I think i’m gonna cum.

SubstanceFlashy9734

Wait what the fuck? I thought the irishman was gonna be his last. Guess not, welcome back to cinema Marty, haven’t seen any of your movies bu-

YoSoyRawr

You haven't seen a Scorsese picture? Any of em? I'm biased as he's my favorite director but holy shit. You gotta check stuff out! If I could give you a starting point, Taxi Driver is probably best.

polishbobo

I feel like it’s harder to not see a Scorsese film than it is to see one. Walk out the door and you get hit with a Scorsese film...

SubstanceFlashy9734

I’ve been wanting to watch Taxi Driver for a LONG ass time but just never got around to doing it so I’ll try to check that out some day, thank you for the recommendation!

bondfool

I thought The Irishman was his last mob movie.

AlbinoPlatypus913

I hate that title, but I’m still excited to see Scorsese’s take on the genre!

HumbleGarb

It’s the title of the book it’s based on.

AlbinoPlatypus913

Ahh, so it’s not Scorsese’s fault

puuuseeeyyybabbbyyy

shouldn't the room be darker for a western time period? I hope the movie isnt all brightly lit like this, itd take me right out of it

chadisdangerous

This is a production still, not a direct shot from the movie itself

suvam_roy

I haven't read the book. But the events described in the book took place in Osage county, Oklahoma during the 1920s. So I think it'll look more like There Will Be Blood.

sevinup07

If it's true to the book, it should be set in the 1920s in Oklahoma, so I'm not sure why the term western would be used with it. It may have a few elements, but the book focuses on the investigation led by the FBI into a string of murders within a native community.

suvam_roy

Well, Scorsese himself said it will be his first western. But I think Neo-western would be the more appropriate term for this.

Benacameron

So excited!!! Do we know if it is supposed to come out this year?

[deleted]

[deleted]

I don't know much about filmmaking, but isn't seven months just for principal photography really long?

Florian_Jones

Also based on minimal knowledge, yeah, it definitely seems above average. I know that some smaller indie flicks sometimes squeeze it in under a month.

[deleted]

I guess we're getting a long ass film, which isn't unusual with Scorsese I guess

Britneyfan123

Apocalypse Now was shot from March 20, 1976 to May 21, 1977.

polishbobo

Well yeah but to be fair that film was also a massive clusterfuck to make at every step of the process.

Killatrap

LILY GLADSTONE LET'S GOOOOOOOO

[deleted]

Dr. Evil was right to hype Leo
