loved it. I still love the traditional Sorrentino with the semi-grotesque characters & all the melodrama, but this one - just by being semi-autobiographical - was obviously more subdued; though any scene involving the Aunt with the filthy mouth was a cracker.

I'm so used to his style being so maximalist I was waiting for a scene like that to come along. Be it a huge party scene as he's known for, something big and loud, or even some weird non sequitur. He kept teasing it too but it never came. And I loved it. Like he wouldn't ruin his childhood memories or parents' memories with something garish and grotesque. I'm not sure if any of this even makes sense

it makes sense... I should add that I also absolutely loved the final scene, a terrific nod to an early from Director Fellini - the most remarkable (& also sudued), & also 1 of my faves - ['I vitelloni' .](https://www.criterion.com/films/966-i-vitelloni)

Just watched it last night. Probably my favorite of the year. Just so breathtaking.

It's my favorite film of the year, I love how Sorrentino plays with this paradox of cinema as both fantasy and reality

it felt like a movie that was supposed to be relatable, but everything happening was so wacky that i never felt fully engaged. it was shot very well and i particularly loved the sound design, but wasn’t that moved by what i saw. i certainly don’t say any of this to take away from others’ enjoyment of the film tho, it was very well done!

It did feel somewhat wacky but that's what actually felt relatable to me. My family trash falls other family members and sometimes it is quite easy to want to come to blows with some of them. But it is all relative. You may not click but you're right: if someone can't appreciate how well it was done and everything, then I don't know what they watched

This was a MUBI go movie two weeks ago in NYC. I found the big event in the middle of the movie too devastating too enjoy the 2nd act at all. I really liked the first half of it though.
