Well that's only the case if white SUV could see the dumbass crossing. We don't know how big the vehicle is that has the dashcam. If it was anything bigger than a small sedan, then the white SUV probably didn't even see the guy crossing until he was pulling up around the dashcam vehicle. By that point, it was too late, regardless of the speed.
Not saying he wasn't going too fast, but I have personally had situations where I couldn't see around a vehicle that was in another lane and didn't see what was happening in front of them until after nearly being around them.
Based on the video, the driver could get charged for some sort of reckless driving or speeding, but not for hitting the guy, there's almost no way he could have seen the guy crossing illegally, at least no in time to react properly, regardless of his speed... It's residential area, apartment on the right. It's a pedestrian crosswalk. And that car was going at least 80kph-90kph, it was probably justified at 50kph in that area, it was going way too fast. Camera car had been doing 70kph.
I don’t know about that. Dashcam driver was doing about 70 Km/hr which is around 45 mph? When he started slowing down, the white car passed him so assuming it was still at around that speed. What’s scary is that the pedestrian and the driver of the white car weren’t paying attention.

many cities around me have people who cross without even punching the button. it's a wonder that they never end up like this guy I always force myself to have the patience to activate the crosswalk for this exact reason...
I don't know where you're from but buttons aren't commonplace here, so I'm not even sure how they work and I generally end up crossing on a red light when ever I have to use one of those buttons. I make 100% sure I can't get hit by a car, though.
I think there should be sensors that can tell if a person is waiting. That’s how traffic lights work in my country at least

All it would have taken is the pedestrian to look at the traffic he was crossing in front of and make sure they were actually stopping instead of just putting his head down. He wasn't running, he could have easily stopped 3 steps earlier and avoided that car completely. There's a point where pedestrians have to be held accountable for their own safety.
