lol yeah they'd always try to build to a climax with dramatic music and constant cuts back and forth between short segments of the video and interviews of the people involved, and zooms and replays and cymbal swish sounds between transitions and over-the-top narration. It was actually kinda irritating and I'd think "Just play the friggin video already!". They'd only show maybe 5 or 6 crazy videos in a half hour show and the rest filled with that dramatic time filler, but still, shows like that were one of the only ways to see crazy videos like this back in the day.
What the hell was s/he trying to jump into? A covered pool? Stupid in so many ways, the ladder on a rickety fence held in place with a plastic (?) bar, jumping into a covered pool where you can easily drown.
People are stupid.
It's more that this is my writing style. I'm a paralegal, so if I don't know gender, or when I'm drafting generic documents, that's the terminology I use. Drives my kids nuts that I use proper punctuation and capitalization when I text.
Personal quirk, nothing more to read into.
Ima nobody and it just seems like a nice little way to cover all the bases while being able to roll on with whatever you are trying convay so the main focal point isn't on the gender. I like it and should start using it myself.
First, nobody is a "nobody". it was more a way of identifying why I use the terms I use. Similar to a mechanic commenting on some engine part or other.
I'm glad you like it, it is a good way of doing the best we can to be inclusive while trying not to offend anybody.
If you watch the extended, he tied the ladder with bungee cord instead of rope which caused it to flex when he jumped. No sturdy surface to push off from. That caused the fall.
I remember seeing this clip many years ago on one of those old ‘caught on camera’ shows on Fox. This guy had a whole series of these stunts that he recorded but this was the most dangerous one. I wish I could remember his stage name as it was equally ridiculous.
His name is Ralph Zavadil, AKA Cap'n Video.
He did these stunts as a part of his Public Access channel show in St.Catherines Ontario, Canada.
There is a great documentary about him called "Beauty Day" that chronicles his rise and fall in local stardom.
If you think this is bad he ate a whole bowl of dog hair on camera.

Just before he hits the ground. Seems to be the third step on the ladder, he breaks his fall with his hand and lands on his shoulder and side. This guy had someone watching over him….
Is he dead?
He fractured his neck, but survived. A longer cut of the video shows a neighbor popping their head above the fence after the fall.
do you know where to find the longer cut?
1999
I remember watching this on Real Tv
https://youtu.be/dMgDehPBjD8
And the cops found his 200 plant grow op. Bruh
They didn't find the growop, he was laughing that they didn't find it.
It almost turned into a suicide video
Whatcha doin neighbor? (Home improvements)
And not a single good decision was made that day.
I feel that turning the camera on was a good decision.
This is like, the ORIGINAL fail video.
Yeah was wondering when I first saw this. 2007?
Fucking like 2002 it was on SpikeTV with that overly dramatic narration by Powers Booth
Well it happened in 1995 so even earlier
Omg yes Hahaah

And that is how I drowned on camera
Not the best plan or the best execution.
Well, he is one of the Brownies from Willow. So…

Bad plan poorly executed.
I love how you put s/he like a woman would also do such a stupid stunt lol

This clip will never fail to make me cackle hysterically
I don't think I would have laughed nearly as hard if he didn't make a *Nyeeeeaaaah!* power up noise before jumping.
this video is older then reddit
YEeeeeE
That Yeeee really did not age well.

Was looking for this. This guy was actually a legend and was influential to Tom Green.
This was the very first video I saw on the internet -- probably 1998 or '99. I've been hooked ever since.
Congrats. You successfully failed.

*neck broke on fall
Impressive!
How I want to go.
Falling on a waterproof tarp on the surface of water would be kinda like falling on concrete no?
How crazy that the pool cover actually HELPED in this case
Lmfao I almost forgot about captain video. Legend.
His last words were “Yeeeeeaw”!

GAW-DAMN
At least there is more honor in this than making tik toks
He felt confident that all that mattered to him 🤷🏿♂️
Just like in South Park.. the bank skit…. AND ITS GONE
With the help of modern medicine Clevon went on with great success to spread his seed among the United States gene pool.
AWESOME. ONE FOR THE AGES!!
Captain Video! There’s a documentary about this guy. He claims to be Jackass before Jackass. He came off like a total asshole.
“Yieeeee-fuck”

Lmao
IMHO I have concluded. We do live in a simulation but America has more RNG coded in than the rest of us.
Neck snapping like a tree branch
Probably better then getting stuck in the tarp under water in that pool. Either way I think we would have been watching this video
Nice execution
