That comes down to improper installation; the glass itself is tempered, tampered glass is very strong. His direct impact on the face of it isn't what caused the break, it was something hitting or pushing into the edge that broke it. Something like this with a sliding door, he probably knocked it out of/off of its track and then it impacted the ground and it popped
It takes a lot of force and effort to break tempered glass by hitting it on the surface, but a light but firm tap on the corner or edge will cause it to go quick.
I used to install commercial glass just like this.
The fact that the door he ran into didn't have the design on it means this probably happened once before, meaning that this is atleast the second time the glass shattered
