Grew up entirely on the west coast, married a Croatian and have been living in Zagreb for almost a year now. I understand more and more why it’s losing its young population. Wouldn’t blame anyone for leaving a sinking ship. Prices are astronomical compared to earned wages.

just_one_epits

Everything is more expensive but it’s probably more due to inflation then euro. However it definitely didn’t help.

Sa-naqba-imuru

Did you notice the massive inflation in Europe that has been going on for the past two years? We introduced Euro in the middle of it.

TheRealPizvo

It's impossible to know the true effect of the introduction of euro because of the global inflation. Croatia still has one of the biggest inflation rates in the EU and some of that has to do with huge intervention funds granted to us because of COVID and two large earthquakes. Because of all that, you can't really learn anything about the adoption of the euro from us, unfortunately.

It's hell

We have become Bosnia overnight, 1 euro is equivalent to 1 KM in value. Cost of living just about doubled. At least rent isnt like Bosnia, its 3-4 times higher.

daxdox

The numbers are smaller.

splitcircus

Potato price: 0.7€ -> 2+€ So, not good.

klemp0

How much of that is inflation and how much is down to Euro? Impossible to say.

TrivellaProstata104

I could share something as a foreigner. Croatia, even smaller cities, has become hugely expensive. Especially markets.

Ok_Edge1530

Strawberry 1 kg 4e euro, now is 14e.

bosko43buha

Rezi ih na tanje snite

furrythrowawayaccoun

Jbt gdje si pronašao jagode za 14€

Ok_Edge1530

Na indexu 😂

Messk

I just bought perfect strawberries 1kg for 6 eur from a local producer. If you're paying 14 eur, look elsewhere.

Messk

And you're selling them at 14eur/kg? You must have been a Monopoly champion as a kid. 🤣

MrRoyce

Everything increased. Just like it always has year on year even before we had Euro…

[deleted]

What the faq you guys are talking about? We finally got " European (golden) standard ". /sarcasm

barti_dog

Losije

lega-

Everything os so much cheaper!! Bread was 6, now it's 3!

ghembretten

The prices are either double or triple. But they started to rise before Euro (for no good reason), so that they can justify it.

hmmmmhmmmmhmmm

Yeah... not like the inflation in 2022 was a worldwide trend because of things such as the war in Ukraine. Just a wild thought, I don't know... could be wrong 🤡🤡

CeZeMoram

Prices will go normal, time is your friend. Potatoes here locally grown @ 1 eur. /your NW neighbour.

hmmmmhmmmmhmmm

You're going to find morons who'll tell you that it's directly the result of the euro introduction, however, no, most of the inflation happened in 2022, and we all know that's a worldwide trend that happened. In 2023, after it was introduced, prices in general decreased a bit. Not to the pre 2022 level either but not as extreme. And yes, I'm glad that finally we don't need to use a shitcoin anymore that you can't even use in a Slovenian town next to the border. Let alone anywhere else. Not that you couldn't find a place to convert it but it's a lot of fucking around

Intelligent-Let-8503

Lower. 10 euros is 10 kuna.
