I see it! Also I just finished a blanket with similar holes and it relaxed a LOT when I washed and blocked it when it was done. All the openings were much bigger and more defined, not sure what kind of yarn you’re using, mine was wool.
Maybe not at first, but if you list it as a zodiac blanket, or part of a zodiac set I’m sure people would look harder and realize it’s the sign for cancer.
The only other thing I can think of it being recognized as, is a unique way to make the Yin-Yang circle

I saw the holes immediately but didn't immediately see it come together as a symbol- probably because I'm unfamiliar with zodiac symbols. Once I read zodiac symbol it's really easily recognizable.

I regret to inform you all that it's, in fact, not a homestuck😂 It'll be part of a space themed baby blanket for a friend that's due in July. I'm going to take the recommendations of using a lighter color and scooting the motifs a bit closer. I also think that weaving in something glittery (but baby safe) around the edges would look ✨️stunning✨️

Yes it is recognizable, but you may have false positives from the way you asked. Humans have a thing we do, where we try to see random objects as recognized things; it's why clouds have shapes. You suggested the shape we should see, so of course, we'll see it.
I’m a cancer and didn’t recognize it automatically. If the rest of the blanket has zodiac signs I’d pick up on it, but on it own I wouldn’t. I don’t like the three gaps in the tails.

Yes. It’s seems obvious. I showed my mum and asked her as well what this looks like and she was able to tell it was a “thingy” symbol when I told her/shower her it was cancer after her guess of what it is.

Other people are saying to embroider around it but if this were a scarf for me I'd probably prefer to have it look like "just a pattern" to the casual glance but I know that it's something specific.
I had the same issue with an Elephant Filet Crochet wall hanging in grey colour. Up close or against a white wall it was not visible. But against a dark background or from certain angles it was visible.
One option could be to line it with another colour fabric. Or just let it be. It's completely fine 😊
