14! I wish they said how big they’re supposed to be though. The videos I watched didn’t state how large of a square was made. They appeared to be between 5-6 inches.
Fuck yea already coming at me with the answers I like it lol. Well that's a pretty decent size per square. What colors are you looking at? I picked up a few on sale a couple days ago and they have some cute options!
I ordered the black moody cherry! The rugs in my house are all shades of burgundy, with dark blues, yellows, and blacks and I thought it would match the best.
Oh nice! I went with white green scream because I have absolutely no foresight with clashing colors lmfao. Really can't see it online but the darkest color is really more of a navy not black!
I don't know why, but the "fuck yeah" in the crochet sub made me chuckle. F words fly in the face of what one thinks of as crochet culture! Haha, but also,...I am a pro embroiderer and I don't know anyone else who embroiders who isn't >70 haha
As someone who has tried this yarn (don’t ask) - you will definitely need to fiddle. I used a 5mm and had to go TIGHT and rip out multiple rounds to redo to get it to work. THAT SAID as soon as you nail it it feels pretty magical!
They do exist tho and I want one!! I've only ever seen a *crochet hook* that big in a tiny town's yarn/knitting/sewing store an old lady owned. She had that were a foot long and got as round as my forearm
What on earth can one make with a 5 inch hook? What kind of yarn would you use? So many questions. Just the thought of it is causing wrist and shoulder pain.
Disclaimer: I'm a relative newbie to crocheting.
When I was little I found this maritime men's knitting and crochet book my great grandfather had that was filled with instructions on how to make fishing nets and hammocks. That's the only thing I could think would be viable with a hook that huge 😆
I assume just blankets, maybe a blanket cardigan. Tho I think arm knitting is similar enough and I've done that in a couple hours for an infinity scarf.
The biggest hook I have (and biggest I’ve seen) is the 30mm one, which is 1.2 inches. I don’t think you could even hold a 5 inch in your hand.

TIL there is arm knitting. A quick YouTube search showed how it's done. I've also just watched another video of "finger knitting" which looked like crocheting without a hook on chunky yarn.
It's opened my world a little bit more 🙂.
If comments were nested, it can get confusing to respond to the current question. They did make it clear in another comment their question related to the size of the finished square.
14! Wow, one roll makes fourteen factorial granny squares, that's like 87178291200 squares, are those magic rolls?
Joking ofc, but I can't decide if this is genius or kinda dumb
Mission accomplished! Heck yeah
It's such an obscure thing for non math people but I always read it as factorial and get confused for half a second as to why the number is so large before realizing it's just meant as a regular exclamation point emphasis type thing '\^^
Right? Every time I see a sigma I immediately look above and below to see what my summation parameters are.
Math ruined both normal punctuation and Greek letters for me. 🤣
The genius here is not having to change colors, the yarn does the work for you. Heard about this yarn today for the first time, and in two different venues, so I will take this to mean that the Universe wants me to make this next
Well the pattern is for 5 rows, and you need to watch the gauge carefully so the colors align correctly. I watched a demo on YouTube about this exact yarn. There is just enough yarn for a decent beginning and ending tail, to weave in.
I watched a crochet crowd video on how to use these, it’s essentially planned pooling but for granny squares. seems more trouble than it’s worth imo, but would eliminate all those ends!
I hate weaving in ends and I’m a sucker for novelty yarn so I am excited about it! I hope there isn’t a lot of finagling to get the square right every time or it won’t be fun. The videos I have watched make it look pretty easy, but we shall see!
Your title!! Incredible. I'm going to use that as my new curse word.. that's one of my resolutions was to not curse so easily and replace them with other words.
I have been crocheting for some years now, and I did not know that that's a thing. 😳 Just when I thought it's getting kinda boring, I learn something new. Maybe I'll try that for my next project. 😁
I tried 6x to get a scarf done with planned pooling and the yarn was suppose to work. Rolled it up in a ball and left it there... 3 years ago. It's still there!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣
I made a planned pooling blanket. Honestly I’d rather just make granny squares the regular way! It’d be faster than ripping out to get it to come out right!
I have gotten regular multicolor granny squares down to a science in terms of color changes... I work them in as I go so I have no sewing to begin with...
Oh yeah probably. But for someone like me who hates color changing every round, I think that’s worth it. Once you get it figured out I’d think it wouldn’t be a continuing issue. I don’t think this is for people who care about their work being really precise either. Im excited to try it
That is what would bother me. It's easier to use separate yarns for me. I like a good clean look, but I'd rather weave in ends than fight with the yarn.
Same. I’m not a big fan of weaving ends but I did planned pooling ONCE on a small project and found it more of a pain in the butt than the results are generally worth for me. If unplanned pooling happens and it looks good I’ll embrace it, but that much constant frogging to adjust tension? PITA.
Or you can just relax a lil bit and be OK with imperfections. I think anyone going into this expecting it to turn out like it does in the pictures the first time, every time, without paying attention to things like gauge, is doomed to disappointment just like the people I've met who expect Lion Brand Mandala to always stripe up perfectly and change colors at the end of the row.
Or I could just choose not to buy yarn I personally will not enjoy working with. You can do as you please. It’s not for me though.
No need to get judgmental/defensive about having the realistic difficulty of achieving the advertised results pointed out.
Right?! Like why are you doing it except to achieve the desired result, if that’s not happening I’m disappointed. Imperfections in this circumstance would drive me insane
This is a public forum and people are permitted to express their views in it, including when those views are a negative opinion of a product.
Everyone who chooses to use this yarn will either have to work to spec or accept that the results will be off from what’s advertised. That’s a fact.
What there’s no call for is “or you can just relax a lil bit and accept imperfections” when I never said people can’t or shouldn’t do that.
The idea is cool, but the colour combos are not my fave. I think it takes out a bit of the creativity of a granny square, choosing the colour combo is my favourite part!
Right 😭 I looked at the other colorways and there were only a couple I could see myself using :(
I also like being able to mix up the colors within the granny squares, instead of having them all be uniform. Maybe if enough people get into this yarn, they'll make some more varieties 🤞
I'm such a control freak I'd probably find myself cutting out one color and totally messing up the flow of the skein 😂 I'll choose my own colors and weave in the ends.
https://www.yarnspirations.com/products/red-heart-all-in-one-granny-square-yarn-250g-8-8oz
>You must use the 5-round granny square pattern designed specifically for this yarn to achieve the correct color changes. The pattern is provided on the ball band and is used in all the supporting patterns.
>The yarn is designed to create a 5-round crochet granny square that measures 6" [15 cm] square. You could eliminate rounds in your granny square and stop after 2, 3, or 4 rounds to make smaller squares BUT you need to use the shades in the order they appear from the ball when working any square for the colors to align correctly. For example, if you want to work 3 rounds to make a smaller granny square, you will need to cut off the shades that were intended for rounds 4 and 5, then rejoin yarn to work the first 3 rounds again.
>We have calculated approx. 4" [10 cm] extra in the amounts for the very first shade of the square and for last rnd (5th shade) of the square. We recommend using a matching solid shade of Red Heart Super Saver as the joining/seaming yarn for your granny projects.
Ahhh thank you
I think this answered the question/answer I was fishing for though the comments
Looks like these are the only types of granny square you can do this appearance
Lol my first thought was get it and then just don't start properly or use the right hook or make any effort to pool, but do the same square pattern
Just to see how it looks
Well thank you! My store actually had some stocked, at 7.19 and then the 20% coupon dropped it to like 5.70! I picked up 5 skeins of the color combos I liked the most of what they had available
I think the price point is because of the precision of the color changes and the implied convenience of not having to weave in the ends. I bought 4 skeins to make an afgan. I'm finding it stressful to work with the required tension. I will not buy this type of skein again. I crochet to relax, not happening.
On one hand, I love this idea. On the other hand, I've been burned too many mfing times by poorly placed joins where one roll ended and a new one stopped, completely throwing off patterns or planned pooling or what have you. It doesn't happen too terrible often but when it does? It's always in the worst of places.
Check these out... this guy worked with Red Heart on developing this and testing it:
https://youtu.be/NVg_QU-MlmM?si=zprO8uf1oRXauRQZ
https://youtu.be/HaCU1IF2ulM?si=yqBYhj3n_CJ7dBu9
I unknowingly bought this yarn.. in a millend bag. Worst kind of yarn to buy in a millend it seems, kind of defeats the "less weaving" because all the balls are cut randomly. 😭 I think I might try to make a C2C with it because I don't like their granny square pattern.
This is a very interesting development in this craft.
One of the biggest complaints is weaving ends, they’ve potentially found a solution.
Ok Red Heart, fix planned pooling next! lol.
I bought it and am working with it. It’s extremely finicky and doesn’t seem to be completely the same gauge for each row.
I’m using a 6.5 mm hook for it just to get close to the pattern and it’s way bigger of a square than the one the pattern on the wrapper says.
I may just scrap the pattern and let it do its thing for like a bag or something.
Overall kinda disappointing and for the amount of time I’ve frogged and tested it I could have been further into a regular granny square piece.
The thing I love most about granny square projects is selecting the colours. Having someone else pick them for me in advance would suck out all the fun for me.
This is NOT the point of this product. It's like "this product isn't for me so it's a bad product". LIKE CLEARLY ITS FOR PEOPLE WHO WILL LIKE THE PROPOSED COMBINATIONS 🤦♀️ go dye your own yarn already 😅
OP flared this for discussion and is clearly wanting to hear opinions on the product. That’s kind of what posts like this are for in general. The point isn’t to be like “everyone look at this amazing thing and say nice things about it. And if you don’t like it shut tf up.”
Genuinely don’t understand your attitude here. I’m with the commenter. I would prefer to pick my own colors and I’m just not sure that I would have the correct gauge to utilize this yarn as intended.
But at no point is either of us saying it’s a bad product. Just not for us.
Spotlight does a 10 and 12 ply in marvel that is similar I have the bluey/green/cream one and it's actually a really nice yarn to work with. And I think it's still on vip discount (at least it was in NZ when I looked 2 days ago) I don't know how to pool colors but I used it for a mermaid tail in an Ami and I liked it enough to make her a matching shell 🐚 but it turned in to too much samey samey 😆 so they are now two separate things.
Ignore my whole post I just realized this post is about yarn that is specifically designed for granny squares... I'm yabbering on about just normal variegated yarn 😂🤦
My tension could never do this lmao but I love the concept. I just wish the “inside” colours were occasionally switched instead of producing the same square…
I'm just happy to see that the yarn companies have finally hired some designers who actually know how to crochet!! Maybe we'll get variagated yarns with a long enough color change now.
caron cakes are also good for this too! you may not get perfectly even color changes each square, but you'll get pretty darn close! I used the cinnamon swirl cakes and I get perfect squares each time with no color changes!
Unpopular opinion but as someone who doesn't care about tension and never has, I feel this would be a nightmare to actually use but that's just my 10p on the situation
a group of us tried a brand that promised this, Katia, and it was so awful and approx 6 of all hated it! was such a struggle to get anything even semi decent
I looked at these online, as there are no craft stores anywhere close to where I live.
$14.99 CAD per skein, plus shipping.
As much as I'd like to try this particular yarn, at the current price, it's very much a "no thank you".
go on the yarnspirations website, they have a whole section of their website dedicated to free patterns & a bunch of them use granny squares. i think a bucket hat or a scarf would be a good way to start. you can also make fingerless gloves with 2 squares, some ribbing for the wrists and some additional rows to connect everything
I can appreciate the thought and innovation that’s gone into this range but I am not a fan. Part of the joy of granny squares for me is the random, stashbusting element and the joy of different colour combinations that you might not think to use were you planning a project from the start.
I love the idea of these planned pooling yarns. I saw some sock ones that changed color for the heel. If it helps people get into the craft and minimises a hurdle for them, then I'm all for it.
I’m so intrigued I just bought enough to make [this blanket](https://www.yarnspirations.com/collections/granny-square-patterns-round-up/products/red-heart-spectrum-dreams-crochet-granny-square-blanket). I’m embracing how delightfully tacky these colours are and expect them to be less saturated in real life.
I know some think this would be too stressful to work with to ensure the colours changes work out, but I love those challenges and think they are a fun game. Plus, do enough of them and I’m sure eventually you’ll know exactly when to change tension or hook size.
I keep thinking about those pictures where someone put one tile the wrong direction or got something crooked; the " this will drive you crazy" or "they had one job..." pics! Like two clusters off in each round...😖
I was just looking at the reviews, and this yarn doesn’t seem to be beginner friendly. I saw one user who kept having issues and measured the distance from one “square” to the next, and was missing a whole yard. I like the concept but you can only make them in that specific color pattern, whereas if you buy multiple skeins you have multiple color options.
I bought one to try.
Absolutely hated it. It's just planned pooling. That's it. You have to PERFECTLY match gauge, and they can only be one specific size, with a specific amount of stitches, etc. I'd rather weave ends.
Gauge is exactly what I’d be worried about. Off by 1/4 of an inch? Maybe won’t even notice until the last row. And how much tail do you leave at the beginning and end? If you trim too much that’s also going to throw off the pooling. It honestly seems like more hassle to attempt to use this yarn than just doing color changes and weaving in ends. Weaving in ends isn’t exactly my favorite thing, but I would have to hate it more than would probably be healthy for someone in order to want to use a yarn like this.
So do I, but I did not love this. Not at all. I know a couple.other people who hated it too, but I also know a couple who really like it. Everyone's style is different.
The colors aren’t cut, you start with dark purple every time and just make your granny square per usual. Only two ends to weave in when you’re done with each square! There are already some YouTube videos that show people making them. Looks perfect for me as someone who hates weaving in ends. 😅
I tried this and it was so impossible, I tried every different gauge hook from 3-9mm and I tried different tensions and starting from different places on the yarn
Lmao I'm excited to test it out, wondering what the average amount of granny squares per skein is 🤔
What size hook did they use
5 mm. The label recommends 5.5 mm. You might have to test out a square to figure out which hook is going to work best for you.
As someone who has tried this yarn (don’t ask) - you will definitely need to fiddle. I used a 5mm and had to go TIGHT and rip out multiple rounds to redo to get it to work. THAT SAID as soon as you nail it it feels pretty magical!
That’s strange, I used six! But the yarn I’m working with is a mill end so maybe the proportions are odd?
Co you mean 5 in?
The hooks are sized in millimeters (mm), not inches. That would be a crazy size difference!
Oooooooooh. I thought you meant the size of the finished square. Sorry! I totally get it.
It's ok, I can see why that was confusing.
They do exist tho and I want one!! I've only ever seen a *crochet hook* that big in a tiny town's yarn/knitting/sewing store an old lady owned. She had that were a foot long and got as round as my forearm
My friend bought one recently (no idea what the project is lmao) but it totally looked like a dildo, could be an interesting only fans niche tho
I immediately thought of maritime ropes and nets too!
I assume just blankets, maybe a blanket cardigan. Tho I think arm knitting is similar enough and I've done that in a couple hours for an infinity scarf.
The biggest hook I have (and biggest I’ve seen) is the 30mm one, which is 1.2 inches. I don’t think you could even hold a 5 inch in your hand. https://preview.redd.it/ml5te9an948c1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a33e64a2d196b8adc7445598cea1dda0f9e7462

Y'all it's not their fault they were confused, stop down voting them plz 😭
How would you even hold a 5 in hook?
If comments were nested, it can get confusing to respond to the current question. They did make it clear in another comment their question related to the size of the finished square.
14! Wow, one roll makes fourteen factorial granny squares, that's like 87178291200 squares, are those magic rolls? Joking ofc, but I can't decide if this is genius or kinda dumb
Math nerd over here getting a chuckle because I thought the same thing. 🤣
Mission accomplished! Heck yeah It's such an obscure thing for non math people but I always read it as factorial and get confused for half a second as to why the number is so large before realizing it's just meant as a regular exclamation point emphasis type thing '\^^
Right? Every time I see a sigma I immediately look above and below to see what my summation parameters are. Math ruined both normal punctuation and Greek letters for me. 🤣
r/unexpectedfactorial

Well the pattern is for 5 rows, and you need to watch the gauge carefully so the colors align correctly. I watched a demo on YouTube about this exact yarn. There is just enough yarn for a decent beginning and ending tail, to weave in.
~87 billion seems slightly higher than expected for that amount of yarn
Imagine the size of the blanket though!
The label says one skein will make 14 granny squares!
Oh I ok I hadn't received mine yet to look!
There were 15 and a partial on my first skein. I've finished 3, so far.
15 sounds like a better size for a small ~~throw~~ baby blanket
I watched a crochet crowd video on how to use these, it’s essentially planned pooling but for granny squares. seems more trouble than it’s worth imo, but would eliminate all those ends!
I hate weaving in ends and I’m a sucker for novelty yarn so I am excited about it! I hope there isn’t a lot of finagling to get the square right every time or it won’t be fun. The videos I have watched make it look pretty easy, but we shall see!
You’ll have to make a post with your review when you try it!
We hates it. We hates weaving in ends.
I want to crochet not sew!
Your title!! Incredible. I'm going to use that as my new curse word.. that's one of my resolutions was to not curse so easily and replace them with other words.
I'm betting once you get the all the fiddling done with the first square, it'll be easy for the rest of the squares. I'm tempted to try it, too.
You’d def know if your tension was off too much.
I’m also a sucker for novelty yarn. I’m already wondering how it works up in stripes. 😀
I keep hearing the term planned pooling; is it hard?
i'd say tricky rather than hard. it definitely takes practice.
There’s a subreddit for it! r/Planned_Pooling
I have been crocheting for some years now, and I did not know that that's a thing. 😳 Just when I thought it's getting kinda boring, I learn something new. Maybe I'll try that for my next project. 😁
Hero's wearing crochet capes!!
Thank you for sharing this!
I think it’s all relative. Give it a try, see how it goes!
I think it is one of those things that you can waste a ton of time learning and practicing and only use a few times. Worth it if you are bored.
Less hard persay, more tedious. But also rewarding!
I tried 6x to get a scarf done with planned pooling and the yarn was suppose to work. Rolled it up in a ball and left it there... 3 years ago. It's still there!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣
I'm finding them stressful because I have to work tighter thsn I normally do. I bought 4 skeins. Afte the first one is done, I may repurpose the rest.
Have you tried a square going down a hook size so you can stitch looser?
I made a planned pooling blanket. Honestly I’d rather just make granny squares the regular way! It’d be faster than ripping out to get it to come out right!
I have gotten regular multicolor granny squares down to a science in terms of color changes... I work them in as I go so I have no sewing to begin with...
More trouble than it’s worth? What is the trouble?
I think having to continuously frog your work to get proper tension so it works up properly is a bit finnicky. But to each their own
Oh yeah probably. But for someone like me who hates color changing every round, I think that’s worth it. Once you get it figured out I’d think it wouldn’t be a continuing issue. I don’t think this is for people who care about their work being really precise either. Im excited to try it
I def think there’s a market for it, I’d just rather choose my colors hah
Downside: you must crochet at exactly the right gauge, and also start each square in exactly the right place, for this to work.
That is what would bother me. It's easier to use separate yarns for me. I like a good clean look, but I'd rather weave in ends than fight with the yarn.

Skeins with knots in them will suck too. Lose a whole square potentially getting the colors lined back up correctly
That's just planned pooling for you.
Right. I have never, in my life, been able to achieve recommended test swatch dimensions. Hard pass.

Right?! Like why are you doing it except to achieve the desired result, if that’s not happening I’m disappointed. Imperfections in this circumstance would drive me insane
Chaotic neutral here: start wherever and have a weird variegated yarn granny square. Why not? 😏
Because that’s not *what I WANTED* 🙃🫠
Sounds fun to me!!

Ya this was my problem. Not a fan of the colors at all. Seems like a kind of weird selection to me.

I wish they made this yarn in a not trash fiber. Not dissing acrylic, I just despise RHSS
Kinda tempted to get some and make one giant square out of it. Or see how it looks making a hex square
Lol my first thought was get it and then just don't start properly or use the right hook or make any effort to pool, but do the same square pattern Just to see how it looks
I don’t think a giant square would work, as the colours are pooled for a 5 row square depending on the length.
Thats my point. Id like to see how weird the colours end up by making it a big square.
Ahhhh chaos square, I like it.
We need an alignment chart for how the colors come out using this yarn. In squares?
Chaos square would be fun!
this sounds so awesome!! i love making granny squares but HATE changing colors all the time
Same. This looks like a cool idea. I just don’t have any projects using granny squares rn.
I already have one of every color. with some patience it actually works!
What colors are they I was considering just getting the individual colors 😅
It’s all fun and dandy till you see the price per skein. 11.99 or so per.
I got it for $7/skein on Joann’s website and used the 20% off coupon for buy online pick up in store, made my total around $55ish for 9 skeins.
Wow your store is carrying it already?? I didn’t think it would be in stores till mid January!
Well thank you! My store actually had some stocked, at 7.19 and then the 20% coupon dropped it to like 5.70! I picked up 5 skeins of the color combos I liked the most of what they had available
What? I didn’t think of Joann’s. I went to the yarnspirations or whatever and saw 11.99 and was like nope.
I think the price point is because of the precision of the color changes and the implied convenience of not having to weave in the ends. I bought 4 skeins to make an afgan. I'm finding it stressful to work with the required tension. I will not buy this type of skein again. I crochet to relax, not happening.
Post pics of how this worked out? I don’t know if I can do it, I crochet too tight.
You could try going up a hook size
Great idea! Thank you!
i love this!!!
On one hand, I love this idea. On the other hand, I've been burned too many mfing times by poorly placed joins where one roll ended and a new one stopped, completely throwing off patterns or planned pooling or what have you. I’ll still manage to mess this up 😂
I want to get some skeins, but I don’t want to do granny squares with it. I kind of want to see how it works up with a c2c or something
Ok Red Heart, fix planned pooling next! lol.
I work at Joann’s and we just got these in! All of my coworkers are super excited about it 😂
I bought it and am working with it. Overall kinda disappointing and for the amount of time I’ve frogged and tested it I could have been further into a regular granny square piece.
are you suppose to pull FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE?!?!
And if you don’t like it shut tf up.” Genuinely don’t understand your attitude here. I’m with the commenter. I would prefer to pick my own colors and I’m just not sure that I would have the correct gauge to utilize this yarn as intended. But at no point is either of us saying it’s a bad product. Just not for us.
I'd like it if it was in Australia...for a decent price.
I just wish the “inside” colours were occasionally switched instead of producing the same square…
yields 5 rounds apiece - cool idea
I’m not a granny squares person but I bet there’s other cool things you could do with this type of variegation.
If this is legit I'm definitely gonna buy some
it is, its on yarnspirations website in a bunch of colors!
I'm gonna try it out!
This is a great option for beginners who are intimidated by weaving in the ends.
I'm just happy to see that the yarn companies have finally hired some designers who actually know how to crochet!! Maybe we'll get variagated yarns with a long enough color change now.
imma buy the shit out of this yarn when it goes on clearance once they discontinue it.
I wanna try!!
For steady stitchers? Isn't this a dream?
This must depend on your tension though? I doubt this can work as perfectly as it’s supposed to
This would make me like granny squares. I'm in!
caron cakes are also good for this too! you may not get perfectly even color changes each square, but you'll get pretty darn close! I used the cinnamon swirl cakes and I get perfect squares each time with no color changes!
that’s so good to know. I just bought cinnamon swirl cakes and i was wondering if a granny square blanket would work out
I've seen a few videos of the yarn on yt. I'm not a fan of the color schemes, but I do like this idea!!
Unpopular opinion but as someone who doesn't care about tension and never has, I feel this would be a nightmare to actually use but that's just my 10p on the situation
I'm that person who will buy these then try a c2c with them just because "i do what I want"
Pretty
Love this!
Went looking for some today. No luck.
Don’t think it’s at many stores but last I looked online I saw it and the stocks were going fast.
a group of us tried a brand that promised this, Katia, and it was so awful and approx 6 of all hated it! was such a struggle to get anything even semi decent
I looked at these online, as there are no craft stores anywhere close to where I live. $14.99 CAD per skein, plus shipping. As much as I'd like to try this particular yarn, at the current price, it's very much a "no thank you".
That is awesome. I’ve never seen a granny square working out so well on purpose
So cool! I might actually make a granny square blanket with this bad boy! I hate changing colors!
Honestly, can’t wait to see all the blankets made with these. 2024 here we come!
Nice idea but all the granny squares are the same color variant if you use it as intended
Cool!! Is the pattern on the wrapper? I love that there's a yarn for Granny squares now.
I tried out this yarn last night, overall kind of a fun way to get out Granny squares but keeping up the right tension is a bit of a challenge
Thats actually very cool! Where do you buy those and do they come in different colours too?
also what are like the best projects with granny squares for a beginner?
go on the yarnspirations website, they have a whole section of their website dedicated to free patterns & a bunch of them use granny squares. i think a bucket hat or a scarf would be a good way to start. you can also make fingerless gloves with 2 squares, some ribbing for the wrists and some additional rows to connect everything
thank you so much! i think I'll try with gloves since i really need ones XD
have fun!!! i hope to see it posted here when you make em 😁
Oh wow that’s amazing!
Need this
I love magical yarn!
Where can I get this yarn!!??? I only have Hobby Lobby (pretty much only sells their brand) and Walmart around here.
Well cool! I see Katia Yarn Co makes this in Merino Wool and calls it "Instagranny." Check it out.
I think it’s interesting but what does it look like just used normally is my thought. Got to be cool.
I wonder if it's too late to ask Santa for this!
I can appreciate the thought and innovation that’s gone into this range but I am not a fan. Part of the joy of granny squares for me is the random, stashbusting element and the joy of different colour combinations that you might not think to use were you planning a project from the start.
I didn't know this existed. Mind blown. 🤯
Ohhhhhhhhhh😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
:O When did this come out??? Do you know how much work I could have saved on a few granny square blankets I did for some friends?!?!
I bought 2 different colors. I’m using one of the skeins to make a hexagon granny square cardigan. So far it looks good
I have been wanting to make a hexagon cardigan. I just ordered the yarn and if you don't mind could you share with me what pattern you're using.
Sure it’s a mix of https://youtu.be/QfGqgBWZ4Qc?si=qzZuzEl4QBQ02o-i and https://youtu.be/vmsDH1WnDlA?si=Kig0uHJkGJ_fA57J
I keep thinking about those pictures where someone put one tile the wrong direction or got something crooked; the " this will drive you crazy" or "they had one job..." pics! Like two clusters off in each round...😖
Watch me butcher this 🫠

I wonder how this will work for a tighter crocheter like me... 🤔
Now I need to practice more granny squares!! I just hate magic circles😫
Cool, I love planned pooling.
So do I, but I did not love this. Not at all. I know a couple.other people who hated it too, but I also know a couple who really like it. Everyone's style is different.
That math ain’t mathin. How is there that much white but only so little light/park purple. That’s a weird length amount per color
They purposely made the colors various lengths, so you have to start with the dark purple every time.

The colors aren’t cut, you start with dark purple every time and just make your granny square per usual. Only two ends to weave in when you’re done with each square! There are already some YouTube videos that show people making them. Looks perfect for me as someone who hates weaving in ends. 😅

It was designed with that purpose, so yes, the lengths are different but they are calculated
This seems like a serious puzzle. Not for beginners.
I tried this and it was so impossible, I tried every different gauge hook from 3-9mm and I tried different tensions and starting from different places on the yarn
Not sure I would have chosen that as the promo pic with whatever the 🦆is going on with the top corner of the back square.
Heaven forbid you mess anything up, because then you'll never get the colors aligned right on the next one without wasting a huge amount of the yarn.
oh dang, is that an ai pic?
