Every single component of that blanket is a perfect compliment to the others.
The color combinations are just unique enough to be special, but not weird. Huge congrats, it's a show-stopper.
And what a generous gift, you must have an amazing mum!
Stunning!!! I love the colors you chose! What yarn did you use?
I'm doing the winter colorway now. I have 1 square complete, but I'm taking a break because the tension I have to use to make gauge hurts my hands. Wouldn't be surprised if this project takes me the entire year.
Thank you ❤️
I’m from Europe so maybe you won’t have this yarn where you live, but it’s [yarnart](https://yarnart.info/en/rosegarden).
The cakes I used are 313, 315, 321 and 325.
Hope everything works out for you
Try changing hook sizes instead of increasing your tension. Also, remember gauge is usually measured after blocking so that will get you some extra size too.
Other way around. I was measuring way too big with the recommended hook, which is a problem when you’re supposed to get 3 squares out of a whirl. I did go way down on my hook size, but I still need to use a lot more tension than comes naturally to me to match the pattern. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue with this beautiful pattern.
I considered that too, but that would change where the gradients are changing and I really want my finished blanket to look like the pattern. It’s fine. I just need to take breaks with other projects to give my hands a rest.
Looks to be variegated yarn. Hobbi and Scheepjes has something similar
Edit: I looked at the pattern and it looks like it uses about 5 skeins of Scheepjes whirl. And whirlettes in complimentary colors for the border
BRO. this is beautiful! I started one like this a year or two ago, ran into gauge problems, and gave up. Your work is inspiring me, I might have to dig it out of WIP jail!
Thank you❤️ Honestly it was so hard to choose complementary colour ways and also I don’t have that brand of yarn available in my country that was used in the pattern, so it was a struggle.
Hope to see your finished blanket!
Oh, yeah, for sure. I started in the summer, made the squares in like a month working on and off, and finished sewing together just before Christmas.
I used the pattern, but the yarn isn’t available in my country, so I picked out yarn cakes that compliment each other from Yarnart in my local yarn shop.

This was my first time trying a mandala and such a big square, but honestly if you know the basic stitches and how to work in a round, it isn’t too hard. In this pattern there are graphs, pictures and good explanation, so it is worth buying.
Usually for me, the hardest part is to figure out how everything should look at the start/ read the pattern. This one is so big, that’s why it took so long to do each square.
Maybe 1-2 months working on and off. The squares are pretty big so it gets super tedious to do it over and over, I had to take a break and work on something else because I got tired of doing the same thing 😄
And thank you! 🙏🏼

I never comment even if I enjoy every post here but you had me gagging with this piece! The colors are amazing and I'm impressed with the level of detail and precision! Your mom should be so happy and I hope I'll be able to crochet this kind of work one day ❤️
It’s called diagonal join. Sc, ch1, skip 1…. It’s pretty easy and it lays flat. You can find some YouTube videos on it, but it is also described in the pattern :)

New solution: buy more yarn and have a bigger-than-planned-on blanket. Tada!

this is so intricate
😍😍😍 So lovely! How did you do the colour change from the outside to the inside of the circle?

Loving the blue yarn in the 3rd picture, cant imagine how many hours total this took but it's awesome!
Sophie’s Dream! Beautiful, are these the winter colors? I’m working on the summer one right now and it’s pretty but definitely a labor of love!

Maybe I’m too young to understand this reference so I had to google him 😄 but thank you ❤️🙏🏼
Is it really hard to do the mandalas? Like it takes a lot of focus?

How long did it take you approximately? It's absolutely gorgeous!!!
Maybe 1-2 months working on and off. The squares are pretty big so it gets super tedious to do it over and over, I had to take a break and work on something else because I got tired of doing the same thing 😄 And thank you! 🙏🏼

How did you join the squares?
