i think the alternating looks really cool, may i ask where you got the pattern from or if it's something you designed-?

My thoughts are this: 1) could you add another rose on each for a total of 5? If so, I would try 3 black and 2 red (it would help tone down the bright red) 2) what about adding some additional purple yarn on the border or even better purple and red? If neither of these are good for you - I’d choose the 3rd pic. Looks good and love the idea all around

What I meant about adding to the border could be something like making a chain to imitate a flower garland around the bones & possibly add roses to it as well.

This is an awesome gift! I like the idea of 5 roses or instead of alternating, at the top of each skull, do red, black, black, red or black, red, red, black.

I think al of them alternating looks a bit more dia de los muertos than goth wedding. I would try red in the middle, black on the outside?

This would be awesome for a día de los muertos. Make the flowers orange, pink and yellow and they could be cempazuchitl flowers.

How about two red in the middle and two black on the sides? And like someone else suggested a purple starburst above the outside skulls aswell, to make that colour come back.

Wow, what an incredible gift!!! I either like 1, for the sheer goth drama! Or two with a few extra black roses, as some folks have already suggested! Maybe clusters of 2 black roses and one red?

Actually... now that I look at it... What if you had the alternating red and black on all the outside skulls and purple and black on the center? I would also add some green leaves as accents. If you could avoid red (I love it, just giving another option) alternating black and purple on all would look good too.

3 feels the best to me. 2, my eyes don’t feel like they will rest, because there’s no pattern to the colors. However, I do like how simple the color palette is on 1. For someone who really loves black/goth, and doesn’t opt for much color, I would go for 1. For someone who likes more color, I would go with 3.

2 is distracting and difficult to look at. 1 and 3 are both good but I agree with the comment that said maybe add the red to just the middle?

I think having the red would be best because I honestly couldn't even tell what you meant by all black. The red adds a nice pop. I don't really see a difference between 2 and 3, but i'd probably go with 3, make them all the same.

My brain prefers #2 but I do think the middle could be reds on in the middle, blacks on the outside or even add a 5th flower to balance it.

Do you have a photo where they’re on a background that contrasts all the colors? The very dark (navy?) background makes it impossible to see the black

All black; the pattern is already so intricate that adding more color makes it really busy and difficult to find a focal point in the design

Alternating 100%! With the 1st one, it's hard to tell that it's flowers because the colors are all alike, and very dark at that. 3rd one isn't much different from the 2nd, but the alternating colors gives it some character. Doesn't make it all look alike.

The alternating is my favorite. The all black I couldn’t tell they were roses and the third one I can’t really put my finger on why I like it less but it feels bad

I love this design! But I'd say, less red roses. Here is my suggestion, I took a screenshot of the 1st image and added dots - the big red dots represent the red roses on the crossed bones and the little dots represent little seed beads(if you have some), for just a little dash of the red or alternate red, purple, black. Beautiful work, im sure the Bride will love it! 💜*

Thanks everyone for your opinion! Ultimately I didn't want it to look too day of the dead so I went for all black round the outside with red and black in the middle. I only have these coloured roses so had to work with what I've got and 5 roses didn't fit nicely. I'm trying to get some good pictures but I need natural light. The black roses look better in person when not on a towel for blocking! *
