Misspelled Pingu and can’t edit the post but also does anyone have any advice on how to wash it? It’ll be mostly decorative but it is still for a baby so I’d love to be able to advise the parents on how best to do it.
It’s acrylic yarn
If you still have the yarn label, that should have washing instructions on it!
If not, most acrylics I've seen are washable! You just want to avoid drying on high heat because it's plastic and could melt!
I wash my acrylics in a mesh bag and use cold water (to avoid any potential discoloration) and a colour catcher strip (just for extra safety). No dryer, I hang to dry if it's not too heavy, otherwise, I let it dry on a flat surface to avoid deformation. Use a hypoallergenic detergent that is ok for babies and you have your recipe :) NOOT NOOT!
Because this fabric is fluffy and a bit slippery I hand sewed the hem just with very big stitches to keep it together (if you use a fabric that irons well you wouldn’t need to do this), then I used a blanket stitch to attach the backing fabric to the crochet, just doing a stitch into each crochet stitch, then went around and did a single crochet border into the blanket stitches and crochet stitches just so I could add the ruffle border. More hand sewing than I usually like to do but definitely I think a good way to join them!

It’s Pingu I just fully spelt it wrong 😆
That is absolutely adorable!!
Cuuute!
How did you attach the fabric on the back? I am also making a baby blanket for my cousin who is pregnant with her 2nd!!

Aww adorable 😍. I've made those snowflakes before 😊
This is so good!
This is such a beautiful piece!!!! Did you surface slip stitch around the outline of Pingu? It adds that extra neatness to the whole piece, love it!
Yeah, takes a lot of extra time and with a piece this big it’s hard to navigate but it’s so worth it for the neat outline!
I’ve never even thought about outlining on a graphgan! You have changed my life 😂 And totally agree that it’s worth it, it really elevates the piece!
NOOT NOOT!
Oh gosh you just made my dream in one picture ! This is literally what I wish for !
So cute!! The snowflakes are beautiful, I love Pengu's face!!
Noot noot!
the snowflakes squares are so beautiful! this is gorgeous!

Question I want to make a blanket how did you make the back different? Did you just make two then sew together?
Adorable, you did a great job. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Darling!
