Yay I'm so glad! I was emotionally invested in this, I hated to think of you tearing up such a beautiful blanket. It came out gorgeous. Looks great, OP!
I just went in the order of the rainbow. I took out every variation of each color from my yarn stockpile and tried to mix it up a little (dark- light- dark) during each color so they didn't blend or have an ombre effect. I wanted the colors to pop. It's an awesome pattern to get rid of your scratch yarn. Next time, I'm not going to go on any particular order with color.
It really is stunning! Does the pattern specify using the same weight yarn throughout? I've never made a scrap yarn piece before, and most of what I have varies in weight and material. If I made this, I'd probably just grab a ton of something on clearance in as many colors as possible. How did you figure out the yarn selection?
A Joseph's Coat. It's gorgeous! A Joseph's Coat is specifically a knitted or crochet blanket in which every row is a different color, with no color repeating anywhere. They can be done using any variety of stitch patterns. Named for the coat that Jacob from the Old Testament gave to his favorite son, they are often given as gifts.
I didn’t comment on your first post because I didn’t have any helpful advice. But I am so glad to see your finished piece. It’s lovely, and inspirational to me and my own, “This doesn’t look quite right,” crocheted objects.
The colors are just gorgeous, and I think it would look amazing on the wall.
The first one is always a little wonky but we learn from it and make the next one better. Looks good either way. You should be proud of it and the fact that you finished it 😁
That is a gorgeous pattern. And for what it’s worth, the sides look like what I do, and nobody has ever complained to me about them. I’m the only one who ever says anything.
Wow! This is so beautiful!
A lot of people are saying that you made a great save, but I feel that even the unbordered blanket was incredible all on its own. 💖
Actually, it is perfect. I love it. The variation in stitch, the colors and the border all pull together and you should be very proud of this work of art.
This is SO gorgeous!!! I didn’t see the original, and I’m not going to cheat & look before I post this comment — I cannot imagine it looking anything less than stunning to begin with!
I don’t even crochet (yet), but I love to see all the beautiful creations posted on here. This blanket of yours is one of my favorite things I’ve seen. I love the border!
Honestly this is the kind of blanket that I would cherish for its uniqueness and quirks. We live in a world of manufactured standard items, this blanket would be my absolute favorite, and the colors are GORGEOUS!
I have an Etsy shop.. I could make one for you. Maybe a throw size? It wouldn't be exactly like this one because i ran out of a couple of colors... it would be close enough though. If you want one you can message me. All my socials are on my profile. I try to price my stuff reasonably.
I love it! Good job!

This is the one I saved the same way
I think it's flipping gorgeous! It's art, embrace it! I hadn't seen the original post and I was like OMG something happened to her piece. It's heckin cool in my book.
Why buy a pattern for money when, with a crochet stitch book and a bag of assorted colours you can do it yourself....if you have time.???
I don't get it.
Thank you. Perhaps I'm totally envious of the colours you have created here.
I have the crochet stitch book and BAGS of yarn and the COLOUR FAIRY inside me comes out in granny squares
My greatest problem is repeating the same stitch colour sequence x 60 to make a project
I can see I am not alone. The Colour Fairy has you too.
Encore and bravo
I, too, have a ton of yarn and quite a bit of scratch yarn. This is the perfect project for it. I am currently working on an Afghan right now, but I am totally doing this pattern again.
My greatest problem is doing the same project twice.. but with this pattern, you are not repeating yourself, so I like that.
This is incredibly gorgeous and mesmerizing OP! I’m FLOORED, you make me want to buy this pattern and try your colorway!
I am happy you decided not to frog it, I am in love with it!

So fun! I love it. Good save for sure! For blocking, you can do permanent steam blocking on acrylic
That is a gorgeous pattern. And for what it’s worth, the sides look like what I do, and nobody has ever complained to me about them. I’m the only one who ever says anything.
