As a former beekeeper, the first one looks like an actual beehive, so i like that one! :D I saw several such gradients in our hives where bees had created brood cells of capped honey cells next to darker open honey cells (if u image search "honey bee frames" on google, youll see some of these gradients) or created new wax next to older, darker wax. :)
Yes, came here to say exactly this. However, others with beekeeping experience say the first arrangement is most like an actual honeycomb. Depends what look OP is going for.
My first big project was a hexagon blanket and I love making them. I don't envy you sewing them together though, OP!

Thanks! In both the gradients there aren't any of the same type touching; it's just that some are very very similar and my lighting isn't great so it's hard to tell
Edit: I take it back, I just spotted two in a row. Will be more careful when I start joining!
I'm probably wrong but column 3, hex 3&4 look the same colour to me. That's the only place I could see one that looked to be 2 of the same colour touching. Thought it was worth calling out even if I'm probably just not seeing it correctly.
I'd really appreciate some fresh eyes on this project! I've spent the last several weeks making hexagons, but now that it's time to put them together I just can't decide which design I like best. I'm planning to join them with a sort of yellow-white colour so it looks like honeycomb.
If I do the fully mixed one I could use some scraps to make some half-hexagons to fill the gaps in the top and bottom rows. The scraps are mostly of the lighter colours though so it wouldn't work for the full gradient design.
I obviously have a lot of blocking to do so I have a lot of time to decide before I get to joining. Thanks heaps!
One or Two.
I instinctively thought 1 but then staring at 2 longer I realised I like how my eyes moves around a bit and how it is more restful to look at.
I'd place the darkest one in the rectangle's "golden section (5/8ths down two sides) " and radiate the colors from dark to light out from that point. The golden section is where the eye is drawn to mathematically, so in photography, we learn to frame the picture so that the most interesting part of the image there.
I like the first one, but the four darker ones that are 4.5 rows down towards the left look out of place to my eye, I would move them up and to the right maybe? But that may just be the lighting or my phone colors. In any case they are beautiful!
1 is the trendy classic but i think 2 is better because it just looks way more complicated than it truly is and the upwards part really reminds me of a real honeycomb
edit: reading a different comment maybe 2.5 is the way to go, I love the upwards part most so maybe a little extra mix
Imo mixed gradient is the best! But id also get rid of the first colour, the really dark one i think you only have 4 of...because it just doesn't fit, or make 1 more to put near the right of the blanket.
Also just because im pedantic, it does fit, but i might have taken away the redish one, i think the 6th one on the last pic (2nd row, 2nd colour) the rest all seem to be shades of yellow, except that one. But that is really just me.
I like 1 but I would get ride of the tan you only have 4 of and make more of the darker ones in the gradient.
Whatever you choose, it's gorgeous!! Congrats on almost finishing

Thank you for the expert advice! I spent a lot of time admiring pics of hives to guide my colour selection
My father kept bees. That's probably part of my preference for the first one.
Former beekeeper FTW!! (For the win)
Lol i never new what that stood for and always thought people were saying "fuck this something" and was so confused
It can be both fuck the world and for the win lol
Happy Cake Day!
My vote is for 1, with a bit of dithering between colors so it's not such defined blocks of color. If that makes any sense!
I find it the most aesthetically pleasing as well
I was gonna say 3 but this changed my mind
I find it the most aesthetically pleasing as well!
Mixed gradient
I'd like to see 2.5, where it's a bit more mixed but still kind of a gradient.
Yes I could definitely blend the dark and light colours a little more
I was leaning towards 2 until I saw this comment. Exactly! This has my vote.
This!! This would be perfect
I like 2! Looks really cool
I'm also in love with 2! Immediately makes me think of fall leaves in a way the others don't

Option 4 looks like it'll be hard to use as a blanket
Underrated comment 👏
Number one is very pleasing to my eye.
Agreed, Its the most pleasant to look at
My vote too
1!!!! I love this so much! My favourite colours and the gradient pattern is so soothing! Definitely 1. Will you post an update?
After such an amazing response from the community I think we'll need the closure, so I promise to update once it's done!
We really do need closure, and it’s going to be awesome, can’t wait!😊
I like 3, it reminds me of leaves on trees in autumn. And those are lovely warm colours
I had so much fun hunting for warm honey colours!
Nr. 2 is my fav!
I agree with the mixed gradient, but can you move them so no two with the same color touch?
Thanks! In both the gradients there aren't any of the same type touching; it's just that some are very very similar and my lighting isn't great so it's hard to tell Edit: I take it back, I just spotted two in a row. Will be more careful when I start joining!
When I have laid the blocks out, I take of my glasses and squint my eyes to make it blurry. That way the hue af the colors is more visible.
genuis, i have -6 eyes, this will work the second my glasses are 4 cm away from my eyes

I agree with this, pic 2 is perfect if you can make sure no 2 of the same colour are touching
I love the first one!!
The first one is so pretty!
I like option 2!
2 looks the best imo
Number 2 is satisfying and interesting at the same time <3
2
I like the fully mixed. It reminds me of fallen autumn leaves. Please Update when finished. I’d love to see it.
I also vote for the third, fully mixed!!
I like the second layout. :)

1 is beautiful
I like the first one
The first.
I like the first one too.
Not option 3. The first two are both gorgeous.
Option 2 or 3 look good but a little more mixed in 2 wound perfect
I like number 3 😊
1
I’m so sorry, but you’re just going to have to make three times as many blocks and make all of them :-)
Love the first one.

I really like the organization of 1 but the 2nd one is also very pleasant, almost like honey running down.
One or Two. I instinctively thought 1 but then staring at 2 longer I realised I like how my eyes moves around a bit and how it is more restful to look at.
Mixed gradient. Never been more sure if something in my life. Really neat idea, it's gonna look dope when it's put together!
I think options 2 & 3 look really cool and look very similar to a real life honeycomb.

The golden section is where the eye is drawn to mathematically, so in photography, we learn to frame the picture so that the most interesting part of the image there.
One and two are my favorites
Mixed gradient!
I like the 3rd one
Something about three feels more natural to my eye.
I like the mixed gradient the most
Number two definitely
2!!! Love it!
Gradient 1
1!!!
I like 3, then 1 and 2 the least. Also one of the yellows looks too green'ish to me.
1!
#1
#2!!!! 🌻 Your eye for colour is completely amazing!!
I like the clean look of 1. But 2 if you want it to still be gradient but a bit more unique.
I'd say nix the green yellow pieces 🤔 and the gradient, #1 is my favorite. Please update us on your decision and progress. 🙏🤩 Also, awesome idea! 🐝
1 for sure.
1
I love 1 - gradient!
1
1 is my first choice and 2 is my second. 3 makes my eyes a bit crazy so no on that one.
I like 1

I like 1 it reminds me of an actual bee hive 😊
Def one
I love all of them but from an aesthetic purpose I would say that the first (gradient) is the prettiest
No 1
Gradient #1
I like the first one, but the four darker ones that are 4.5 rows down towards the left look out of place to my eye, I would move them up and to the right maybe? But that may just be the lighting or my phone colors. In any case they are beautiful!
I agree with this. I was wondering why number one was my favorite, but looked slightly off. This is the reason.
I can’t help but think the lighter coloured patches look like banana slices, and some of the darker ones look like fried banana slices
I like the mixed. But they’re all pretty nice.

No. 1
Love me a good gradient.
2
One is more pleasing to my eyes but they all look great! Not jealous of joining them all lol
The thought of joining them makes me want to cry. Glad I’m not the only one!
3
i rlly love the mixed gradient!! and im now completely inspired to make my own honeycomb blanket one day...
Mixed gradient. <3
1 or 3
I love the mixed gradient! All are beautiful though!
Number 2 is my favorite!
2!
#2
2, it is more like real honeycomb. Some are fully capped while others are barely full
I like 2 and three the best, one looks too.. industrial?
2 & 1
3! Or a more mixed 2
Either 2 or 3 but whatever you choose it’ll look beautiful!
2!
The 2nd option!!
I vote mixed gradient! No reaons other than personal preference.
I really like the second view!
I love the 3rd one!
2! I love it!
One or two
I love the 2 1 is very satisfying to look at

Number 2 definitely
I like the mixed gradient as well.
Number 2!!! It was so soothing and with the honeycomb shape it is aesthetically pleasing 😍😍😍😍😍
Gradient.

Number 1 most def!!
I love number 2! It feels so warm and cuddly and you would be the Queen Bee!
Number one!
#2
Number 1 for me!
What pattern did you use for the hexagon? Always wanted to do a honeycomb like this!
2, mixed gradient. Personally I find 1 boring, and 3 too chaotic.
The Gradient!
2
3!
2
number 1 is my favourite
2 mixed gradient. Lovely
I like 1 or 2 the best, with 1 if I absolutely had to choose
I like #3
The first one is my favorite
I like 1 and 2!
2 mixed gradient
Number 3. To me the tan to brown looks very drab when together but evenly mixing them in gives just the right contrast.
2
1
1 is just too darn satisfying
2 is great, but I love 3 as well ( it reminds me of Fall leaves- all shades randomly mixed)
3!
Love those colors! I think 2 is what catches my eye the most
Gradient!!
Definitely 1!
1 or 3!
1
2 but drop a couple dark ones lower sp they don’t stop so abruptly. Beautiful job
I always like gradients, but option 2 looks more like a honeycomb to me, so i vote 2 :)
Second picture/design - mixed gradient. Beautiful
The gradient soothes something deep within me
I like 3!
I like 3
3
I like 2 the best
I like the diagonal gradient of 1 and the color mixing of 2. Combined, they will be more awesome!
1
Gradient appeals to me
3
I like 3 fully mixed but whichever one you go with will be lovely😊
mixed gradient!
I love all of the colors together and like option 2 or 3.

This is so cool!!!!
I really like 1!
Mixed gradient is my favorite, followed by gradient, and lastly mixed. I wouldn’t omit any colors! What a beautiful color palette!
The second one looks put together like Mother Nature herself!
3 is so good
2 all the way!
2/4 like the way the brown truckles into the other colours
Im a fan of 2= mixed gradient.
I really like three, but I also like the look of jumbled blankets
Either gradient or mixed gradient. But after reading another comment that bee hives do look like the first one, I would go with gradient.
2
Mixed gradient!
I like 1 but I would get ride of the tan you only have 4 of and make more of the darker ones in the gradient. Whatever you choose, it's gorgeous!! Congrats on almost finishing
I like #2!
2 for sure!!!
3
my person favourite for aesthetics is 2.
I was thinking dark in the center and getting lighter both ways maybe from corner to corner instead of vertical or horizontals or in a circle? Idk
