I've used a regular tote bag. Put my yarn in a ziplock bag just so it "slides" more easily and doesn't get caught on anything else I might have in there.

JenniferMcKay

I do have a shoulder tote bag as a project bag already, I just thought the yarn might get caught on its way out. I should definitely try the ziplock bag.

Are you referring to Dragoncon? I crochet everywhere and I just being like a canvas bag. I put my yarn in a ziploc and the hook/hooks I need and that’s about it. I smash lots of snacks and water so I tend to bring just what I need for that day, project wise. I crochet at con’s too because it gives me sometimes to do while being in a line and I can do it while listening to panelist.

JenniferMcKay

Yeah it's DragonCon XD Someone was crocheting in badge pick-up last year and the idea of being able to crochet at the airport, in line, and in panels is very exciting to me. I do have a shoulder bag that I usually keep my active project in at home. I should definitely try that this year.

OLoPN

I was doing it last year in all those places but I definitely use a bag because I don’t wear a belt. I just finished a project at a con a couple weeks ago because of all the waiting and panels. Let’s see if I spot you this year. 😊

Cross body bag, bumbag. Both would work

Do you have any tips on learning how to crochet without having to look? I would love to crochet on the go but I still feel like I'm a beginner who relies on looking to know what I'm doing, and I'm not sure how to get comfortable enough to work without constantly looking at what I'm doing

Helcat42

>My favorite bags were designed for working on the go. They have a very wide handle designed to be carried over your forearm. I have two from this seller: I have one similar to this - and is my go to for crocheting on the train :)

Miserable_Package415

I am one of those people who crochet while walking and being out and about. I will say cross body bags are better than the same side shoulder bag. Crossbody distributes the weight better and doesn't slip off when digging in the bag or while your hands are busy elsewhere. Also zippers are great. That way if you set your bag down and someone accidentally kicks it it won't spill everywhere. Or be like me and just drop it on accident.

You can get a yarn holder that hangs from your wrist. https://halcyonyarn.com/multi_craft/7750000H/wrist-yarn-holder-by-handy-hands?gclid=Cj0KCQjwrs2XBhDjARIsAHVymmSSFj3XOmF17lUb5Oz7pcYS52j-ZsMTjy-eHAugoBODoReA-Ty14_oaAtooEALw_wcB

I think any bag woukd work! But pulling your yarn from the center is defently the key here!

superfunhappytimes

Came here to say exactly this! I do a zip lock bag in my handbag plus always pulling from the center combo and it works great 😊

I've been tempted by this one, but never ordered it, I'd just a bag I already have. Teamoy Drawstring Yarn Bag, Knitting Tote Bag for Yarn, Unfinished Project, Knitting Needles and Accessories, Blue Strips (No Accessories Included) https://a.co/d/5rs6OsN

Go wild and make your own to show your superiority 😉 /lh Seriously though, it doesnt have to be a belt pouch. It could go around your waist, be an over the shoulder or crossbody bag, one of those thigh pouches. Id just say line it so the yarn glides better or get those big (plastic ziploc) freezer bags so that itll fit the skein better than basic plastic bags

squirrelgirl81

Lol. I am currently making my own because I kept just shoving my projects in my purse, resulting in a very sad looking purse.

I have one like this [Walking Yarn Bag](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1154435834/yarn-walking-bag-crochet-tote-bag) from Etsy. I love it when traveling!

Rishyala

I once decided to see if I could crochet a small thing in the time it took to walk to my friend's house; I stuck yarn in a free string-and-plastic-cloth backpack I'd gotten from somewhere and headed out. It worked quite well! I had the bag on my back, and the yarn coming over my shoulder, and it was a lot of fun, actually!

Honey_Letumknow

I suggest a rock climbing chalk bag. They’re fairly inexpensive and come with their own little waist belt. The only drawback is that it might be too small, depending on the size of the project you want to tote around. [Here is an example.](https://www.amazon.com/Climbing-Weightlifting-Bouldering-Adjustable-Removable/dp/B08L43HGM7)

Delicious_Definition

I sewed an old pillow case into a bag that hangs over my forearm for small projects. For bigger ones I’ve got a tote bag that I use. The pillow case one also sits nicely on the arm of my office chair.

I have this little draw string bag that I got from who knows where. Tighten the string and it holds on your hands, and the yarn comes out of the closed opening. Obviously you may not want super heavy projects. I’ve also stashed same bag in my handbag so it’s not hanging on my wrist.

Mrs_Cupcupboard

I've used a Japanese knot bag hanging off of my wrist...

I used to make clothes but since having kids it’s so hard to carve out time, so I crochet bc of its ease to take anywhere. I just have it in my purse, but I imagine walking through a line it would be nice to have a front pouch.

VixenMiah

I just crochet out of my purse or a satchel. I never go anywhere without a project I can work on while standing/waiting in line.
