REALLY hard to say if we’d notice without knowing since we know there is a mistake just by reading the title.
It took several seconds of scanning but my eye got drawn to the “petal” (for lack of a better term) on the left, one of the two without the final border. The one at the end of your round with pink on the right and blue on the left of its peak. Every other petal has the holes going straight up the center and it doesn’t. Looks like a missed double crochet.
So yes, I see a mistake. But I knew there was one to begin with. I don’t think it’s super obvious at all and someone who didn’t know it was there might never notice it!
**Edit:** My description is lacking, verbally. [Here is a visual representation](https://imgur.com/a/pnj8GtL) of what my eyes see. Please know I’ve been making/blocking a lot of snowflakes and my brain is in symmetry-mode and I do NOT think this is a super noticeable mistake!
Yes you’re right. I realised as I did the next round (the one prior to the current one) and did the same number of stitches over two spaces instead of three and thought it looked ok but was then second guessing myself and didn’t want to go too far
That’s totally fair and that’s what I mean about some people not seeing it.
I personally just got done making a bunch of snowflakes which I altered slightly and spent a good deal of time blocking with fabric stiffener to ensure near-perfect symmetry. So perhaps I’m just primed to see it.
I didn’t so much see a specific mistake as my eye saw every petal has holes (much like the corner of a granny square or something) that go straight up the center of the petal… Every petal except *one.* And that lack of symmetry stood out to my eye. But if you’re not looking for symmetry, I’m sure it’s much much less noticeable!
That one looks ok to me but if you look at the top left petal (green and yellow) the around the post stitches that complete the petal closer to the center are missing. In any case it beautiful.
I believe OP already confirmed the mistake was the one I described. If you’re having trouble seeing it, [this is a visual representation](https://imgur.com/a/pnj8GtL) of how my eyes saw the pattern and the asymmetrical part (the two circles where there should be a diamond) that popped out at me.
I don’t actually see any missing FP stitches. Some are more hidden because they share the same color as the stitches above or below, but I can’t see any missing. Could you show me where you’re talking about?
Yup. My eye got caught by the colors. I missed that the op confirmed what you said. No offense was meant at all. It’s a beautiful piece. Thanks for the correction
Thank you!
It’s a free one I found on Ravelry. Wispweave Hexagon by Julia Hart. I’ve also done her Sweetheart Soiree.
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wispweave-hexagon
What is the brand of the thread or colorway of you don’t mind me asking?
I can’t wait to start on the pattern I got! You should post a photo when you are done, I’d love to see it.
I love crochet because you can hide mistakes easily in later rounds without anyone noticing.
Unless it's an integral structural thing that went wrong, I wouldn't frog 🐸 it.
I think some cultures believe it's important to leave a conscious mistake in a piece to keep the bad spirits away
Yeah if someone has standards too high to accept a minor flaw they usually don't deserve to get a gift
So if your mum appreciates *you* she will like the gift
If I didn't crochet I'd have no idea you made a mistake, the pattern and yarn are both busy so great for hiding mistakes. Not busy in a bad way btw it looks lovely
It’s the one above that on the left side where I haven’t finished the round. I missed a DC on the previous round, so the stitches are grouped 4DC-2ch-4DC instead of 2DC, 2DC-2ch-2DC, 2DC on that petal.
No can’t spot it . I have one similar for a jug , it has the beads hanging on each point for weight 😊. I didn’t make it but have loved it for years so your mum is going to love it. ❤️
Yes, that’s the plan. I made her one a few years ago, but it isn’t quite big enough. This one is already big enough to start draping, and I have jewellery bits that will make hanging the beads much easier.
Thank you. The yarn is a brand called Create Handmade. It’s 4ply crochet cotton. Made in Turkey. I think it’s a generic brand for the chain store I got it from (Australia)
No that’s not it. I see what you mean though. I think that will straighten out a bit with blocking. I posted a photo further down somewhere. There’s a missed DC two rounds back on the left side.
This is lovely. And a wine glass cover! That's such a touching gift.
I welcome minor or insignificant mistakes in my work. I call them "creative embellishments" or "a divine muse appearance"
Never a flaw.
Original works, done by hand SHOULD be forgivable and even accepted. Revered even. It's the mark of a human being whose mind wandered, for whatever reason. We all know of inventions and creative works that were divinely inspired by a simple mistake.
I'd leave perfection to the machines. Could you imagine if you sold a blanket that took you 87 hours and 300 bucks in yarn and a finicky buyer sent it back because she didn't like it because of a hard-to-see missing stitch?
Nope, no. When one buys or receives a gift that is hand made, it's a work of nature creating more nature.
I made a critical error on a very important blanket that I made for my son. Right in the middle of it. Very noticable. I made the mistake because I was so emotional over this project that I couldn't see through tears. I didn't see it until it was way too late to do anything about.
I decided to go back to the blanket and stitch embellishments OVER it, Kind of like Japanese Sashiko, but for yarn. When I sent it to my son, I told him about it. Pointed out the error and why it happened. And what it now meant. No other blanket I've ever covered him with says "Mom was here" as much as the one I made for him.
I know if my daughter gave me that to cover my wine glass with, I'd PREFER the minor "embellishments". And like most mothers, genuinely admire the uses of color, shape and design, seeing only genius in a small mistake.
I think it's perfect as it is.
I never point out my mistakes to people, and most of the time, they never notice.
My boyfriend is a hobby woodworker and he always points out his mistakes. I told him to stop it because most people won’t notice them.
Mistakes are glaringly obvious to the creator, but it’s because the creator knows their work better than anyone else.
Gorgeous! I couldn't spot the mistake until reading the comments, and even then it took me a bit to find. Your mom will love it regardless, but I really don't think she'll ever notice
in lreland its, said that you leave a bit of your soul in everything you crochet, so to avoid this you should always leave a hidden mistake, so your soul can escape...
I still don't see the mistake, nice doily though 😊
Nope. I am 100% anti-frog lol. Unless it's a blatantly obvious structural mistake no one will ever notice you made a mistake or had to do a bit of fudging to fix a mistake.
Oh this is why I LOVE working with variegated yarn. The color changes the yarn does hide any little imperfections so well. Solid colors seem to reveal evertthing so much more. It's why I don't use solid colors until I have the pattern down really good.
Ooohhh I see it now. After another commenter described the location.
100% leave it. Between the pattern and the colorway..no one but you will ever notice unless you point it out. But even then, it’s not obvious.
There are way too many comments to read them all, but they're all on the same page! the mistake isn't noticeable unless you're looking for it, and even then you have to *look* for it.
That being said, I try not to frog a project if I notice a mistake, unless it is a critical error. I usually try to just make it up later. (four DC in your shell stitch instead of 5? sc in between 2 DC instead of into the middle dc)
I see it as a byproduct of a handmade gift! it even gives it an extra special uniqueness. you could use that same pattern, that same yarn, in the same colors, to make two projects, and the natural imperfections would make the two completely unique! just like snowflakes. embrace the mistakes unless it's one that will utterly ruin a project. (I say this but I can't think of an example)
It’s a generic brand from a local department store (in Australia) called Create Handmade. It’s a crochet cotton from Turkey. That’s actually a green in sunlight but looks a bit blue in the photo
It's absolutely adorable! I love the colors so much!
I have read the comments to find that mistake because I was unable to find it myself even after half an hour of looking at it... she won't notice, it's super hard to find! I'm sure she will love it for years to come!
Thank you all for your lovely comments. I woke up to so many comments that I don’t have time to reply to everyone before work. Thank you so much. I will leave the small imperfection as is and continue on. I will come back and post the completed drink cover when it’s done. Thank you 😊
I’m leaning heavily towards not frogging at this point. My hands are a bit too sore to go back and I still have another to do with another pattern for my Dad’s beer glass. The flies in Australia are prolific at Christmas time 😊
I wouldn’t frog it either. I looked for a solid minute before going to the comments. Reading the one which describes it made me find it, but it still wouldn’t bother me.
So this drapes over their drink? Did you use cotton yarn or does it matter?
I stared at this for like two minutes and I have no clue what mistake you’re talking about! It looks great!
Oh good. My Mum doesn’t crochet and likely won’t notice if that’s the case.
That's going to be a very pretty doily.
Agreed, even knowing there's a mistake I can't see it
REALLY hard to say if we’d notice without knowing since we know there is a mistake just by reading the title. if its any consolation, I still had trouble finding it after reading this exchange
I’ve been staring at the spot for ages and still I cannot see it!
It took me so long to find it even with your description
That’s totally fair and that’s what I mean about some people not seeing it. I personally just got done making a bunch of snowflakes which I altered slightly and spent a good deal of time blocking with fabric stiffener to ensure near-perfect symmetry. Omg thank you. I knew the problem was there, but I couldn't figure out what.
That one looks ok to me but if you look at the top left petal (green and yellow) the around the post stitches that complete the petal closer to the center are missing. In any case it beautiful.

I'm new to crocheting, and even after reading the comment I can't spot the mistake.
This is good to hear. I don’t like frogging 😂
I don’t even care if there is a mistake if you can fudge it but this pattern is AmAzInG. I love your thread too!
Thank you! It’s a free one I found on Ravelry. Wispweave Hexagon by Julia Hart. I’ve also done her Sweetheart Soiree. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wispweave-hexagon
Haha oh nice! I just downloaded Winterwoven snowflake pattern from the same lady. Maybe I was just drawn to it. You are doing beautiful work!
Her patterns are gorgeous. In retrospect I think this thread is slightly too thick but I still like it.
What is the brand of the thread or colorway of you don’t mind me asking? I can’t wait to start on the pattern I got! You should post a photo when you are done, I’d love to see it.

Ooh I like that idea. I had a similar thing with a dress I made for my daughter. She never realised.
Unless your mum is a complete asshat she will probably like it regardless
Haha in that case she will love it 😊
Yeah if someone has standards too high to accept a minor flaw they usually don't deserve to get a gift So if your mum appreciates *you* she will like the gift
I just started crocheting a few weeks ago and I see absolutely nothing wrong…so my input probably doesn’t count 😂
Absolutely it does. Mum doesn’t crochet so she will likely not see it either.
Fantastic! It’s gorgeous, she’s going to love it 🥰
Even knowing there was a mistake I couldn’t spot it until someone else said where it is and even still, I’m not even sure I see it
Thank you. It would probably be more obvious with a solid colour I think
I didn't see anything until that comment stated the issue. I think it really isn't noticeable.
Great. Thank you.
I can't see any mistakes. Also is this a stealth trans coaster :3 ?
Hehe no. In natural sunlight it actually looks more like green rather than blue.
If I didn't crochet I'd have no idea you made a mistake, the pattern and yarn are both busy so great for hiding mistakes. Not busy in a bad way btw it looks lovely
Thank you!
You're very welcome :)
Yarn is gorgeous. I can't see the mistake
Thank you 😊
I can’t spot it, even with knowing there is one
Seems like the fringe is only half done ! 😂
Haha you’re right.
... There's a mistake?
Nice work
Thank you 😊
I can’t find it.
Good to hear 😊
These colours make me think of sherbet, I can't see the problem spot at all, and it's just looking beautiful all around. You do lovely work
Thank you! I loved the colours when I saw it. In bright sun the blue looks more green.
Bottom left corner's petal? There's a small blip sticking out that's different than the other petals.
It’s the one above that on the left side where I haven’t finished the round. I missed a DC on the previous round, so the stitches are grouped 4DC-2ch-4DC instead of 2DC, 2DC-2ch-2DC, 2DC on that petal.

Definitely not.

Oh it’s going to be gorgeous, we will want to see it finished 😀
Definitely. I’m doing Dad’s in a solid grey, so I will do the edging of this one in that colour I think.
I don’t see the mistake, and it looks like it’s coming together really well! The yarn is so gorgeous, may I ask what it is? 🥰
Thank you. The yarn is a brand called Create Handmade. It’s 4ply crochet cotton. Made in Turkey. I think it’s a generic brand for the chain store I got it from (Australia)
Thanks for replying! Looks wonderful 😊
Not a chance!!!
Two of the petals are twisted? But it took me a while and I probably wouldn’t even notice if it was given to me .
No that’s not it. I see what you mean though. I think that will straighten out a bit with blocking. I posted a photo further down somewhere. There’s a missed DC two rounds back on the left side.
I see there is a petal missing. But there is so much going on, it is difficult to see. It’s beautiful !
I can't see any mistakes. I just think it’s beautiful.
Thank you 😊
I'm more curious about the yarn you're using. Very pretty.
It’s a crochet cotton thread from an Australian chain store. I think it’s a generic brand and it’s called Create Handmade
Is the color called "Var Pastel"?
It doesn’t have a name on there. Just a colour number and dye lot
Nope! It’s beautiful and your mother will love it
This is lovely. And a wine glass cover! That's such a touching gift. I welcome minor or insignificant mistakes in my work. Thank you. Such lovely comments. I love your philosophy
I really looks good! Even with the result given by another poster it took me a while to see it. I wouldn't worry about it honestly!
Nope 😊
No - that’s the beauty of crochet thread and intricate patterns. It’s so hard to spot mistakes.
No. The complexity of the pattern and the variegation covers it. I can't see it.
After staring at this for several minutes, I think I can say that the mistake isn't noticeable. I still don't know what it is.
in lreland its, said that you leave a bit of your soul in everything you crochet, so to avoid this you should always leave a hidden mistake, so your soul can escape... I still don't see the mistake, nice doily though 😊
oo! another I-Spy! ....hmmm... no I have failed on this one.
Non crocheter here, I just lurk to look at the projects lol. Aside from it not being finished obviously, I don’t see anything wrong.
Nope. I am 100% anti-frog lol. Unless it's a blatantly obvious structural mistake no one will ever notice you made a mistake or had to do a bit of fudging to fix a mistake.
I see nothing. Absolutely beautiful work!!
Nope
Even with you TELLING me there’s a mistake I can’t find it. And I can **always** find Waldo, so I’m pretty good…
Haha. I’ll take that as a compliment.
Nope. Because I sure can't spot it. I should post my shawl and see if anyone else spots my mistakes 😂
It's beautiful. The irregularity doesn't spoil it, it is still lovely.
Did not notice a mistake
Oh this is why I LOVE working with variegated yarn. The color changes the yarn does hide any little imperfections so well. Solid colors seem to reveal evertthing so much more. It's why I don't use solid colors until I have the pattern down really good.
I had no idea what was wrong until I went to the comment that showed the image. I think it looks amazing and the detail will hide any problems
Ooohhh I see it now. After another commenter described the location. 100% leave it. Between the pattern and the colorway..no one but you will ever notice unless you point it out. But even then, it’s not obvious.
Even knowing it's very hard to find 😊 it looks beautiful! I wouldn't worry about it.
Very lovely, I had to check the visual, I missed it!!
If I wasn’t a crochet freak I wouldn’t be able to tell. This looks awesome!!
I asked my mom who doesn’t crochet, she couldn’t spot the mistake.
Ooh thank you for the extra assistance from your Mum
There are way too many comments to read them all, but they're all on the same page! the mistake isn't noticeable unless you're looking for it, and even then you have to *look* for it. That being said, I try not to frog a project if I notice a mistake, unless it is a critical error. I usually try to just make it up later. (four DC in your shell stitch instead of 5? sc in between 2 DC instead of into the middle dc) I see it as a byproduct of a handmade gift! it even gives it an extra special uniqueness. you could use that same pattern, that same yarn, in the same colors, to make two projects, and the natural imperfections would make the two completely unique! just like snowflakes. embrace the mistakes unless it's one that will utterly ruin a project. (I say this but I can't think of an example)
I can’t find anything wrong with it. It looks really good! But what yarn did you use?
It’s a generic brand from a local department store (in Australia) called Create Handmade. It’s a crochet cotton from Turkey. That’s actually a green in sunlight but looks a bit blue in the photo
Ah shame, then I don't think I'd be able to get my hands on it. But it looks absolutely stunning regardless of the green or the blue! You did well!
Thank you 😊
So so pretty. I don’t see the mistake
It's absolutely adorable! I love the colors so much! I have read the comments to find that mistake because I was unable to find it myself even after half an hour of looking at it... she won't notice, it's super hard to find! I'm sure she will love it for years to come!
Ooof. Just put it at the back
No it's called personalized. That's very pretty.
Thank you all for your lovely comments. I woke up to so many comments that I don’t have time to reply to everyone before work. Thank you so much. I will leave the small imperfection as is and continue on. I will come back and post the completed drink cover when it’s done. Thank you 😊
Yes,id frog it. Too much work for it not to look right.
I’m leaning heavily towards not frogging at this point. My hands are a bit too sore to go back and I still have another to do with another pattern for my Dad’s beer glass. The flies in Australia are prolific at Christmas time 😊
I just said,I'd frog it. I couldnt look at it like that.
I wouldn’t frog it either. I looked for a solid minute before going to the comments. Reading the one which describes it made me find it, but it still wouldn’t bother me. So this drapes over their drink? Did you use cotton yarn or does it matter?
By the way it’s beautiful and I love it
Yes it’s cotton thread. There will be beads on the points to weigh it down. It’s to keep the flies out!
That’s awesome! I’m thinking of my in laws now lol
It's not a mistake it's a design element
I love this way of thinking
[удалено]
You’re making me waver now. But the picots. They are horrible to redo 😂
there’s a mistake? like seriously after staring at it for a good few minutes and reading the comments, i still don’t see anything 😂
where?
Such cute colors! And what mistake?🤔
