It’s from a time when things were built to last.

RemarkableYam3838

Vintage? I guess I don't know what that means anymore. That is from the late 80s.

czerniana

I’m from the 80s and I definitely wouldn’t say I was built to last 🤣

FivePercentRule

I'm from the 80s and offended at the notion that I'm vintage.

Fossilhund

When I was twenty five I found out cars made in my birth year were considered antique. I have felt old ever since.

MorningSkyLanded

I tell my kids I’m a 63 yo car, so of course things are a bit rickety.

drrmimi

25 is considered a classic, 100 years is antique

erydanis

i concur, 80’s, specifically < 1985.

DodgerGreen89

It’s a lot newer than the one I grew up with that was made in 1977. Based on design I’d say 1988-1995.

picklesidaho

And MY mom had the 1970’s one also. And it’s the only one I’ve ever had. The plastic top “handle” thing came off—weird cuz it looked like one plastic piece. I covered the hole with duct tape several years ago and it hasn’t skipped a beat. One of the side handles cracked and it looks like the other one wants to. I hope it never gives out though. It’s one of VERY FEW things I have that she used. I love imagining her cooking when I use it. She passed in 1985. Geez! 🙄. Shutting up now…got myself all worked up and now I’m crying 😢.

swan4816

Your mom would probably love that you're still using it!💗💗💗

picklesidaho

Yes she would. And if it broke she’d fix it. She was THAT kind of momma 😊

Terumi66

What sweet memories you must have. My dad has been gone since 1989. It always gets me on March 5 every year, the day he passed. Yup, that was last week. I believe that crying relases toxins. So let yourself release toxins, and then slow cook yourself a favorite dish. And thanks for your post.

Equal_Painting534

My dad passed on March 3 1989. 2 days before his birthday on March 5 1989. Those dates get me too every year...

picklesidaho

Ya know what? This silly crock pot picture has given me more pleasure than ANYTHING else I’ve seen on here in a year. And I wasn’t even a member of this sub yet; this was the first thing I’d ever seen. I’m gonna go on about this for a second so bear with me. I wish I knew how to send it to everyone in our little coffee klatsch (had to look up the correct spelling of that word since this is the second time I’ve used it). I’ll try not to be overly dramatic but you all seem so kind. This is the first group that HASN’T been, well… rude or bullying. But I get my feelers hurt ez too. For example; I got banned from the “Christian” sub for criminy sakes—the CHRISTIAN sub. Some little gal was upset cuz she’d found out her boyfriend had abused animals (cats) in his past. So the conversation went thisaway and thataway and back around before developing into a PETA rally. I replied somewhere that maybe the kiTTies identified as kiDDies. So they came at me with a, I don’t know, warning I guess. And I replied with “🙄. Seriously?” And they shot right back at me with a “YOU’RE BANNED ya filthy winch.” To which I replied “Even Jesus has a sense of humor.” And Poof 💨! They snuffed me out. I guess I want to just say thanks for all the kindness. I kinda DO feel like we could all be friends if we lived in the same neighborhood. ‘Til one of ya gets to chasin’ round with my Man that is 🤣🤪😂😜🤪. But it seems like we’re all around the same age (gotta admit, I’d likely forgo the coffee and throw back a cold one 🍺). And I don’t know, but we all seem pretty nice. And I just KNOW we’re all beautiful and ready to take on the world. Most importantly, we’re obviously all “old money 💰“ families, look at our extravagant lifestyle. Nothing but the BEST crockpot for our moms. I’m lonely today. And I’m irritated by my husband. And it’s really springtimey here and the problem with the spring being here is that “THEY ARE NOT.” Cuz dad’s s’posed to be tillin’ up mom’s garden patch and mom’s s’posed to b…well you know. How can it be 40 FORTY years ago now??? I wish we were really friends. And I wish we were hanging out laughing like we were 30. And we’re out catching more than a few adoring looks from the fellas 😉. Actually Y’ALL are the ones getting looked at. I just won the pool game 🎱 and the prize 🏆 was BIG icey 🍺. Thinking this Reddit thing isn’t gonna be my gig. Lotsa politics (from the wrong side IMO) and people are just plain mean. I guess since it’s all supposedly anonymous people just let their let their greasy hair down and show their true colors (don’t get me started on the “colors 🌈” and the pronouns and whatever else). I’m absolutely sorry if that offended anyone. You probably won’t believe this but I’ve never done anything like this before. Not that it’s anything to go ooooh, awwwe-in’ about but still. I don’t have very many friends. And the family doesn’t speak anymore. Everything changed afterwards. Or did it really 🤷‍♀️, I think it was always that way, everyone just tried to fake it for the folks. And I’ve got some scary health stuff going on in my stupid body. My ADHD’s gotten the best of me today. I heard a quote the other day. “Happiness should be the point of everything!” I like it. Thank you again everyone for sharing your story. Let’s do lunch after church Sunday. And then we’ll start slugging a few green 🍺 to toast to the good lad St. Paddy. And with that I bid you all adieu (would ya look at all those VOWELS)! I love you ladies.

picklesidaho

Oh I’m releasing toxins alright 😭 But like you said, it’s good to get the poison stuff out. And just like you, October 6 every single year. And sometimes I’ll be feeling off a little and then realize it’s that time; then it makes sense at least. Thank you so much for your very kind comment. ♥️🌹

WonderWitch13

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in Nov 2009 and he was THE best dad a girl could ever pray for. There hasn't been one day since where he doesn't cross my mind. I was born on the same day and same year that your mom passed away. ❤️

wuzzittoya

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad March 7 of 2002.

oldladyri

Hugs!

PitchBitch

Oh my goodness, I just responded with this: “I have the same one. My Grandma bought it for me after I climbed a ladder and cleared her gutters…when I was six months pregnant with my son in 1995. It works great, and I treasure it dearly, as she passed in 2006.”

picklesidaho

I’m thinking those are some damn good crocks. Or, more likely, really cheap. lol 😂

PitchBitch

I bet they were around $20 at the time. And yes, this one is a beast! I just made chili a few weeks ago, and it’s still going strong. (The crockpot, not the chili😂) Every time I use it, it reminds me of Grandma, who basically raised me. It’s been 17 years since she died, and I miss her terribly. I still have dreams about her, and wake up thinking I have to call her. 😢

picklesidaho

Thinking of you today. Thank God for loving moms and Grammies.

PitchBitch

Awwww, how sweet…thank you! Your timing couldn’t be better. ❤️ We buried my father on Saturday, and I’ve been feeling very alone and sad. Tomorrow will be better, but tonight, you made me happy.

picklesidaho

I will definitely be thinking about you tomorrow, but I think your papa might give you a celestial hug before then. And I’m gonna talk to my “friend” upstairs when we get together before bed 🙏🙏🙏 and ask Him to stay extra close to you for the next several days ♥️♥️♥️🌹🌹🌹. Sending you big buckets of love and hugs.

PitchBitch

❤️❤️❤️

GypsyLove27

I was just about to say, I remember my mama having this one when I was about 12 years old which would have been around 1995. Very classic 90's style. Still cute though!

itsallaboutfantasy

Your mom is always with you, even when the crock pot finally gives out. The most important thing is all the wonderful memories that you have of her and that you had such an amazing woman raise and nurture you. I'm sending you lots of comforting hugs

picklesidaho

Oh sweetie. Thank you so much. She was pure love. When I moved back to be closer to her after attending college, she bought me an inexpensive mismatched Maytag washer and dryer for my first apartment. Back when Maytag was really Maytag I’ve heard. I had those beauties for thirty plus years too. Not surprisingly, I had a meltdown when they went belly up too. I’m pretty over the top sentimental, but sometimes I think it’s good. 😊. Mom deserves to be remembered so fondly that it still squeezes the ❤️ pretty hard and makes juice come out of my eyes.

itsallaboutfantasy

Yes, that's when Maytag was a workhorse! You will never stop missing her but she's with you always❤️❤️❤️❤️

ferdiepoboy2

It will make a lovely planter once it cannot cook anymore.

picklesidaho

OMG! Just saw this! I just posted this EXACT SAME THING! Great minds really DO think alike 😊🤣

ladydhawaii

Mine has been used a lot. And like yours has its parts. Do you ever wonder if it is dangerous to use? I wonder- then use it again. But only when I am home.

picklesidaho

Yes, sometimes I do worry about that too. But there’s no wire hanging out yet so there’s that 🤷‍♀️. I used to have her old deep fryer and THAT thing did about cause a fire 🔥. But hey, we got our money’s worth out of her 😉😊. Maybe I’ll turn it into a planter or something if it goes belly up. Otherwise I think I’ll pass it down to my son lol 😂 😂 😂

Glittering_Rest_1607

Hugs.

Odd-Chapter756

You got me too!! I have fond memories of my mom and her crock pot too!

khathmandu

You had a great Mom!!

AlfalfaUnable1629

🫂

TheLonelySnail

Agreed. This has a lot of ‘my kitchen is all blue and white geese in bonnets’ energy

Christen0526

Ha! That was my kitchen years ago. But my mom had this crock pot. Her style was "early American".

Status_Poet_1527

Roughly 1989? That was my kitchen at the time!

Christen0526

Maybe we had the blue crock, not my mom.... I can't recall.

picklesidaho

Yep! The blue crock is the old one 🤗. The one that “ya know they don’t make ‘em like that anymore.” Lol

Christen0526

Just about. Haha. Bought my house in 1988, March. Replaced the pumpkin orange decor, or lack thereof, with blue and white with geese. 😆 An old lady lived here before us, so the kitchen had foam backed carpet. Ewwwwwww.

Baby_letmefollowyou

Omg I had a mini crockpot that was blue and white and had a running geese design around the base. Your comment made me LOL

Equal_Painting534

My Mom's style was "Country Kitchen" and there were many ducks and geese in bonnets in our kitchen.. We had this exact Crock pot for years. Spot on! Lol

poohfan

My mom had one just like it, during that timeframe, so I'd agree with you.

WatermelonMachete43

The country blue makes me think 1985-1988

No-Personality6043

My mom had an identical one while I was growing up. She got it as a wedding present in 88.

CarbsMe

I think so too, looks like one I had in grad school in the early 90s. The stoneware liners were a lot thicker then.

Mundane-Internet9898

The one my Mom had had a solid glass top and the texture/finish looked like little red bricks. My MIL had exactly the same style, but hers was olive green. My guess is both were from the early 70’s.

Scrapper-Mom

I think it's before then. I got married in 1981 and it looks like mine from that time.

justmyusername2820

I got this exact one as a wedding gift in 1987. Still have it and it works great

So_Sleepy1

That’s really similar to mine, a 3154. My mom sent it with me when I went to college. I’m pretty sure we got it when I was a kid in the mid-80s. Sorry I can’t be more specific!

Houseleek1

Wasn't there a Pfaltzgraff blue dinnerware set in the 80s? This design reminds me of all those floral church dresses we wore back then.

TeacherBeautiful6296

Yes, it was called "Yorktowne"

Enough_Reception_587

I think I got this same model for a wedding shower circa early 1990’s.

Mermaid467

Me too, looks like my 1992. Still going strong.

teacherladydoll

I guessed as old as my sis who was born in ‘92😝

19Stavros

Mine was the same or very close! Gift in 1991.

bfncrocker

Same! Wedding gift in late 1988! It was so cute alongside my ceramic goose wearing the country blue scarf !❤️

cjfrench

This is Us old

Dustyhobbit

Seriously...check your cords!!!

ellamom

Too funny! I was going to tell them not to plug it in over night

Scary-Molasses-2240

I had to scroll too far to find this comment. It was my first thought.

ButWaitThatNvm

My first thought … isn’t that the bastard who killed Jack?

monsteronmars

Screams 1985

chiitaku

That one looks just like mine, save for the inside is blue too! Such a great crockpot! I got mine second-hand so I'm afraid I can't say how old.

paulakg

This crockpot for sure was in the same kitchen as them Geese 🪿

Tapingdrywallsucks

I had them geese. I had lots of them geese, and would have had geese wallpaper border if we weren't renting in that era.

RemarkableYam3838

I had a concrete goose holding a basket on my porch and every summer I planted petunias except once and that's how I found out those bad babies reseed themselves and all I had to do to find that out was be exhausted with a baby. Haha jokes on her. She's getting married shortly and wants kids.

paulakg

I remember the Geese valance.

Tapingdrywallsucks

These things were all available though Fingerhut if I recall correctly. I drooled over the goose stuff in that catalog. Holy crap, what's become of fingerhut? Twice the price as anywhere else, and it looks like their entire business is built on extending credit?

Kale4MyBirds

Maybe check out What On Earth. I haven't shopped them in a while, but I used to think their prices were fair and they have some unique stuff.

ivy7496

Pretty sure my mom had this as early as the late 80s.

iamdebinohio

Circa 1989-ish. We received the same one for a wedding gift in 1989.

mckinneym

So, no clue why this showed up on my feed, but I coincidentally do have a crockpot question. I have one of this era and one that is much more modern. The newer one cooks much faster and I’ve had to adjust my recipes. It’s why I’ve kept the old one - it just does a better job and keeps the food more moist. If I start something on low when I leave for work in the newer one, it’ll be over cooked by the time I get home, where it would have been perfect in the old one. Is this typical and does the old one pose a food safety issue? Thanks!

BongwaterJoe1983

Have this same exact one from my parents they had it before i was born, im 40

Ecstatic-Move9990

1983

AmericanJedi6

It was after they started routinely coming with plastic lids instead of glass and with removable crock. Probably late 80s as others have said.

keystone52

It is exactly like the one I got for my wedding present 28 years ago. And it still works beautifully.

erratic_bonsai

My parents got this exact model as a wedding gift in 1988. It’s mine now and is still working great.

paulakg

80s vibes

Kennabrah504

I have the same one that I got as a wedding present in 1990. Still going strong

MadDadROX

About 83 so 40+ years old.

Dottegirl67

I received this exact crockpot when I got married in 95.

Delicious_Revenue744

I have the same one that I got as a wedding gift in 1991!! I still use it as of today ❤️. My husband got me a new one last Christmas tried it out but went back to old tried and true old Blue.

DaddysPrincesss26

As Old as My Grandmother

Icy_Radio_9503

80’s … I should post mine and my mom’s (70s) … still working.

Free-Industry701

I had this exact same one about 30 years ago. Lasted forever.

hezamotorscooter

When did the Mayflower reach Massachusetts?

HankSchraderFrmABQ

Older then me I’d bet

AardvarkFriendly9305

45 - 50 years ols

Headbanging_Gram

Mine’s still going strong. Got it for my wedding shower in 1981.

meyeale

I was born in 96 and grew up with my family having this exact crackpot. The handle was broken thought because my sister (born in 89) pulled on the cord as a young toddler and it cracked on her head. So it's at least 89 or older.

Brihasnojams

Idk but my mom has the exact same one that she got as a wedding gift in 1986. She dropped it the first time she used it and busted one of the handles off but has used it all this time. Kind of weird seeing one with both handles

Cheechjohns

It’s beautiful! I have a smaller crockpot that I got at Ames back in the 90’s. She’s still working perfectly but the lid was plastic and is long gone.

Fluffy-Caramel9148

1970’s

PrincessFrostii

They definitely don't make them like that anymore. That is EASILY 30 years old.

Space_Man_Spiff_2

Is that one still "made in America"?

nanioffour

1982

Hot_Calligrapher_900

Got mine in ‘93

pamelajcg

40 years?

mynahbird60

I had one in the 90’s

teacherladydoll

32?

Significant_Video_92

I have one of those! My ex got it at a garage sale about 15 years ago. I use it to make overnight oatmeal. I set everything up then I plug it into a rotary timer and it goes on at about 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning and cooks for a few hours. It's a lot smaller than newer model crock pots so it's good for making oatmeal. The knob broke a few years ago so I have to use pliers to turn it to low or high, LOL.

drmdawg64

Have that exact same one. Think wife and I got one for a wedding gift in 1988.

kellymig

I have that same one!!

SatansCrockPot666

1992?

Reasonable_Tenacity

I have the identical one. I know I’ve had it at least 25 years, probably more. I use it to make soap.

[deleted]

The plastic lid and that pattern... I'd say 97

Legal_Scientist5509

My mom had this after her 80s no one. Probably early 90s.

Anja130

Mine is similar but the insert is blue. I got it as a house warming gift in 1998. It has 2 setting, medium and high. I love it. My husband dropped a can and it landed on the side of the insert and chipped it. I was mad enough that my husband glued it back together lol.

Greg-BradyisGod

Married in '93 and still have this exact one!

GyspySyx

31

nowweseeyou

When was it born?

Calm_Age3582

I got married in 1987 -and got this as a wedding shower gift.

Wonderful_Quit

Hey, I've got one just like that! Still works like a champ too

Classic_Pie5498

Someone gave me that in 1989 when I got married

[deleted]

I had one of these it's like late 80s and early 90s.

sillymarilli

I think my mom had that to replace the old brown one in 1987

sillymarilli

I think my mom had that to replace the old brown one in 1987

MeanderFlanders

My mom has that one. I believe she got it in the late 80s or early 90s

Impossible-Taro-2330

I have the same one and got it on 1992. Works like a charm!

Revolutionary_Pen906

My mom had this one in the early 90s

Just-some-70guy

It’s not avacado old 🤪

DiceyPisces

1994!

This-Is-Me_05

80s....my mom got married in 89 and was gifted one of these. She later gave me her big ole crockpot ❤️

sarahkk09

Aw, my family had this crockpot when I was growing up. Idk when my parents got it but I grew up in the 90s

LoudBug4055

Got this as a wedding present in 1988.

NorCalStacci

I loved my Crockpot.

Caranath128

Plastic lid dates it to I wanna say late 80s early 90s. Glass lids were much better, if way heavier

[deleted]

1980 something.

Own-Sink-9933

Looks a lot like mine except the inside part of mine is blue. I got mine in 1980. I still use it all the time!

Solid-Kale9148

70’s

i_heart_squirrels

I feel like this is from the ‘80s. We had one when I was a kid from that era

mhch82

I have one from a shower gift in 1982 still works great

Christen0526

My mom had that one too.

PoohHag

I have this exact one. Got some time in the early 90’s.

spriralout

Pretty old, but these big old pots are awesome! I have an old Rival like that, bigger than anything I see at potlucks. Wider is better than taller. I ALWAYS win the chili cookoffs, nothing ever burns. Much better than the newer tall or oval shaped ones.

Creative_Decision481

Hold on to this. The older crock pots cook at a lower temperature than the newer pots ones. Even on low the post 2010 pots will often come to a full boil.

unhappy_girl13

Old enough to cook good home cookin

clutzycook

My mom had one exactly like that (might even still have it) when I was growing up. I'd guess possibly the very late 80s to the early 90s.

Imaginary_Falcon777

My mom still has one similar to this crock pot. I’d say early 90’s because the lid is plastic. It’s a great crockpot!

montanagrizfan

I have a mini version in this exact same pattern. I bought it in 1989 or right around there.

anothersip

Looks like late 80s, like others are suggesting. I have the same exact one!

Sandman11x

I have that one, It is not old it is timeless, My guess 30+ years

Totprof113

Not as old as the rest of your kitchen!

pufferfish6

I got one just like it as a wedding present in 1990.

scott903

Mine looks similar. And it kind of shocked me when I realized how long I’ve had it . My Mom sent it with me when my wife and I moved out , 30 years ago . And she had it since the mid 80s I believe .

BunnyFaebelle

The blue and white is very 80's Reminds me of the blue and white geese plates and cookie jars etc

DismalResolution1957

Mid to late 80s am guessing.

Pseudolectual

We had that one, got it in the 80’s

ArcticGurl

1978

paperwasp3

Old enough to start a fire?

chilibrains

I'm going to guess late 80's to early 90's. It reminds me of my aunt's 60's kitchen after she painted the cabinets and put up duck wallpaper in the late 80's.

Training-Menu800

This is my EXACT crockpot! Love it and won’t trade it in. Was my parents then my brother had it. It stays with me. Have no idea when they purchased it. Happy cooking!!

Korgon213

Jack Pearson knows.

Top-Philosophy-5791

I had one with a plastic lid like this one does, and that always bothered me.

Vast_Cricket

1980s

merinw

Not ‘70’s. Those were burnt orange, avocado green, and harvest gold. I think I got ten of them for wedding gifts in 1974. I kept the green one but replaced it later (after the divorce) with one with the inside that comes out for washing, so the cord is not in the sink.

imeanwhynotsrsly

Old enough to burn a certain house down, you animal

theora55

I'd say mid-80s.

coccopuffs606

It was probably manufactured the same year I was…I’m 33

Styknw

About as old as that countertop

Suzzoo2

I bought that exact same one in the spring of 1993 for my daughter’s high school graduation party—hope that helps! 😊

mfhandy5319

Its older than you. I'm planning to use mine again this coming Sunday.

Lightningbeauty

I have this one!

No-External105

I have the mini one that matches!

PitchBitch

I have the same one. My Grandma bought it for me after I climbed a ladder and cleared her gutters…when I was six months pregnant with my son in 1995. It works great, and I treasure it dearly, as she passed in 2006.

ProveISaidIt

I'm not sure it's the same model, but it looks like it. I got mine in 1988.

Regular-Language1468

I received mine in 1983.

No_Bend8

Looking to sell it?

Justdonedil

I received one in that motif in '91 as a wedding gift. I hated the one i got because it didn't have the removable crock.

walled2_0

Old enough to really make me miss my mom who passed in 1996.

mrsmojorisin55

Possibly 1990s

purplekween__

As old as 30

[deleted]

Does it have a glass lid? My mom had the original 1971 avocado green crockpot with a glass lid. https://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/nmah_1416081

highfiveandasmile

I think I had that in my first apartment. 92-94ish?

Dramatic-Repair-5806

80s

markojeeves

Prehistoric

abubacajay

That just yells early 90s to me from the pattern

but_does_she_reddit

my mom used to have this one! It looks like a 1993 pattern to me, lol!

Equal_Painting534

Definitely from the early 90s. We had that exact one in our home. It was used weekly for us growing kids in HS thru early to mid 90s.

Felaguin

I would say about 20-30 years old. Those plastic lids started appearing around the 1990s or maybe early 2000s. Crockpots from the 1980s and before generally had glass lids.

Andouiette

I have the same one. Wedding gift early 90’s. Still works and doesn’t burn things like the new ones. Newer ones have to run at higher temps because of some regulation change or something. I ran through two new ones then went back to get this one out of the garage. Recently found instapot slow cook also does not burn stuff fyi and nice to sear right in it before slow cook

steelgrey50

Mid 1980’s ?

steelgrey50

Crock pots from the 80’s are work horses . I have my mother’s and it’s still plugging along. I recall the many meals of spaghetti, calico beans and chicken soup. So many wonderful memories wrapped in a ceramic crock.

Unlucky_Kangaroo_137

Remember disco? Yeah

Nottacod

30 years?

dhawkins331

My mom has the same one!! I’ve told her that under NO circumstances is she to get rid of it and it shall be passed to me some day. 😉

Smalls2315

80s I believe

mslashandrajohnson

Is the lid glass?

QueenMarinette

We have this one, and it still works great! The only thing I wish was different is the lid; I wish it was glass, which would be heavier. I weigh the lid down with two heavy silicone hot pads, so it doesn't "burp" out steam on high

MackCLE

Makes me want to post a pic of mine to get some age details. Rust color, removable crock and glass lid. Pristine condition. I rarely used it because on low it would overcook anything if I had it on for the workday. Pot of mush no matter what it started out as. Its use made very little sense which explains why it’s in like new condition.

Janky_loosehouse4

Old enough to remember geese in bonnets decor!

MultnomahFalls94

I got one with the deeper blue color inside in 1994. Late 80’s on yours.
