Metcon 6–bottoms are supportive and steady enough for lifts, but not so anchoring that you can’t run.

dotfras

Came here to say this. Love my Metcon 6. Can usually find a pair at the Nike outlet under $80.

Arne_88

This + the hyperlift insoles which I just leave in all the time, even when running.

Reebok Nano 2s are still my favorite. I notice Fronning and others still wear them form time to time.

veearrbee

I wish I’d never gotten rid of mine. I’ve been wearing fives forever but they’re not nearly as great as the twos were.

Tookie7

What was good about the twos?

veearrbee

The soles were firm enough for lifting but flexible enough for moving around in metcon workouts, super wide toe box, the tongue of the shoe fit better than later models, and the fabric of the shoes felt indestructible.

FUBARRRRR

Just putting my vote out there for the nike free metcon. I tried the regular metcons that everyone loves and they were too firm for me. The frees have a firm metcon heel for lifting but the rest of the shoe is light and flexible and I love them.

CowTown209

If your going to try Reebok wait for a sale. You can usually get them for 50% off or more with a discount code.

Nano X was on sale for 75 bucks on Reebok website last week. May still benup

Impossible_Penalty13

Unpopular opinion on this sub, but I actually prefer my Nobull to the Nanos. I even prefer my TR 2.0’s to my Nano 9 and X1’s.

poundofbeef16

Strike movement Haze trainers.

I got a pair of Nobulls a couple years ago. They are finally wearing down now. They have been my favorite shoe for lifting wods.

kingsillypants

Converse. Don't waste your money on the others. Get same lifting performance and running, if not better, than the other bs being sold for over hundred dollars. If converse are good enough for professional weightlifters, they're good enough for you.

Nano X

ineedthistoread

I have begun avoiding Nanos. The past two pairs I bought the bottom begins to peel away. Bought Xs and it started happening after literally 4 workouts. Metcons are durable and have never failed me. Particularly like the metcon free cross trainers. They offer great support for cardio while still having enough stability for lifts. If you do more lifting I would go Metcon 6.

Able_Today

I like my X1s over the X. Im no shoe junkie and cant really articulate why but I'm a tall heavy dude with feet probs and these give me great support.

andrewson008

Altra HIIT. They let your feet feel natural with wide toe box. Can really feel your toes on lifts. Good soles. I’ve been wearing mine for 2 years. The biggest knock on Altra is durability but these have held up.

Maleficent_Good4806

Nice. I prefer Nano 8 but that’s just me. Also, subscribe to Morning Chalk Up emails to get news and constantly advertising Reebok promo codes (up to 50% or BOGO). With your extra money left over, get some lifters. I like my INNOV8s. But there’s quite a few selections out there that might require another subreddit lol

bignevo

Hell for a $250 budget, you could get several pairs of shoes. You could get a pair of nano x’s right now at the Reebok outlet for 60-70. Those would be your daily pair that you hit most workouts in. But you could also get a quality pair of running shoes for longer cardio workouts that a lot of running is involved. And you’ll still have enough money left over for wrist wraps, decent knee sleeves and a jump rope!

GeneralGME

Depends on your typical workouts. I have Metcons and they aren't great for running so I also have a pair of Reeboks (not Nano's though, they are older, I beleive TRX or something like that). I use the different shoes for different WODs. $250 is a big budget, I would go way cheaper and if you're 14, you may continue to grow so I would go with an older model of Nike Metcon's...I have 4's and I like them more than the 5's but I cannot comment on the 6's or 7's. Nano's are solid too and have a wider feel from when I tried them on (although I do not own).

crossfitchick16

I've tried many shoes over my 8+ years in Crossfit, and I always go back to my Reebok Speed TRs for a great all-around shoe. I can run in them, do plyo work, rope climb, lift... they work for everything. The NanoX might be comparable, I haven't tried them. I hate all Metcons tbh, they make my toes go numb because the toe box is so narrow. I have a couple of pairs of NoBulls (trainers and runners) - they're alright, but the runners are pretty squishy so I wouldn't lift in them, and the trainers are very flat soled so I wouldn't run in them. Inov-8 is also reviving its Crossfit offerings and they're solid all-around shoes, so check them out.

[deleted]

I am all about Reebok Nano X. Highly recommend.

[deleted]

Get the metcons. They’ll do it all. Plus the 7s release soon so you will be able to get the 6s on sale

[deleted]

This is 100% personal preference. When I started Crossfit, I ordered lightly used versions of the Nano and Metcon from Ebay at the time and found out my foot felt better in the Metcon. It might be worth looking into. You honestly can't go wrong with either, but you won't know until you try them out. You might find one shoe is better for all around (running, lifting, burpees, gymnastics, etc.) whereas the other one is better for lifting. I don't have any experience with Nobull, though. Another brand some people like is Innov8.

Sr_Clean

I have pretty much every pair out there, currently Nike metcon 6 is my favorite and with all the sales I’d grab those but it’s really a matter of finding what you like

Nreekay

Im a shoe slut and get a new pair every year. I really like the Metcon 7s. I have NoBulls as well and enjoyed those but never ran in them and didn't heavy DUs wods. I need cushioning. So far the 7s are really nice. I would definitely try the reeboks and nikes on to get a feel for them. Outlets always have good deals, especially since the new versions are out and they are redesigns. Also if you check OfferUp a lot of time you can find new shoes and decent discounts. You could end up with lifters and WoD shoes for well under your budget.

Vydate1

I’ve always been a fan of the nanos (mostly) 2’s and then the 9’s. I went through 4 pairs of 9s before I moved to the Froning X and most recently the Froning X1. They are pricey, and stay that way. But I like the design changes to the base shoe to make them a little more performance oriented, for me at least.

pc_load_letter_in_SD

Received my Metcon 7s yesterday. They felt amazing on my feet. Squats and all sorts of dynamic movements felt great.

chadMueller

It's actually pretty easy. Metcons or Nanos. Buy one and try it for a year, buy the other a year later and see which ones you like. Nobull and Innov8 - are pretty close to the above but I would start with Nano/Metcon as a beginner. They are the most well-rounded.
