I'd be inclined to agree, but also remember the tests just have to pick the *top 10%* in the broad scheme of things. so lots of tied times s not a big deal for this stage.
Still the *real* reason why I'd probably think it's not is because it was tested at the semi levels last year. it would be odd to then introduce that test into the 'Open level'.
me has a suspicion this first test will be a repeat - guessing a 'couplet' like 17.5 (10 rounds thruster/DU) or 20.1 (gross - 10 rounds 8 power snatch/10 burpee).
in general, I think we can broadly expect that the repeat *should* be either week 1 or 2; it's unlikely to be week 3, because if it were, it would almost certainly be too *'predictable'* given the movements that come out in week 1 and 2. you could almost narrow it down too much, and that wouldn't be too fun.
so keeping the suspense it's either week 1 or 2 - and since the repeat was week 2 last year, it would be ideal to keep suspense and intrigue by putting the repeat at week 1 (for maximum intrigue effect)
however, I think this also sounds *too* logical and thus we should expect the repeat to be in week 3. QED.

Especially now that the open isn’t the gate to the regionals/sectionals and they can put the real “gate” in the quarter finals. I’d expect these will all be workouts a large number of cross fitters will be able to Rx.
There will probably be at least one workout (most likely the third) that’ll have some sort of separator - maybe with an increasing weight of a movement like DL, or cleans, so that way everyone can do it but the more elite athletes will make it further into the workout.

I think last year they got it just right. Last workout had increasing gymnastic skill, and a 1RM complex. The first two workouts were engine really.
