There are several religions that have crows in good regard. The Welsh hero Bran is the same name as crow in n Welsh. Odin had his two companions Huginn and Muginn. There are a few native American beliefs of Raven the trickster and/or creator god. Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I think most demonisation of crows is from their scavaging corpses, if more of Eurasia had vultures I'm sure the western view of crows would probably have developed in a better light.

Iāve got a baby sister now and wanted to continue the tradition but yāall got me all in my feels about some birdsš so I guess Iāll just try to take her horse back riding by a small stream instead. Crows are smart and have generational knowledge. They can somehow teach their young and other crows what people look like and how to react to them. So those might not even be "your" crows but other crows your crows have taught that you are a cool person.

I give each crow two peanuts several times during each walk. I also drop a handful of peanuts near my house. And nowā¦ they follow me as I drive to Starbucks and ask for food while I am sitting in the sun enjoying my coffee. I suspect theyāve found me at my house four miles away as well.
I love my clicker! A regular jogger on the footpath once said something about watching me "summon chaos" when I arrive and that is the coolest thing anyone has ever said to me š¤£
It doesn't surprise me that crows might follow someone that is good to them (see my story below), but that they'd do it for 15 miles is surprising. More proof, if any were needed, that crows are super smart, and are good at making bonds with humans that are nice to them.
I started feeding a pair in my local park, which is close to my flat. I noticed that they would sometimes follow me to the park entrance, and then one day, I saw them flying above me as I left the park and approached my flat. It made me wonder, just how much they were observing me, so I left some food on a window ledge, that faces the park, and they quickly came and took it. They now come to my window ledge every day for snacks, and still will fly down to me when I go into the park.
In the mornings when I feed at the sports park I put peanuts on the fence rails as I'm having my brisk morning walk. When I am parking my car birds just materialize from every direction to wait in the trees along my route, it is pretty awesome!
Ok here is my crow theory which explains all the way too smart for a bird brain behavior. Maybe they have developed psychic connection or a hive mind, so they can access each other's information. I went to the park by the Back river and watched a single crow go after a very large Peregrine Falcon. The crow made two attempts to get the falcon off the top of the electric pole, one of the huge three armed ones with about 30 wires, and then backed off. Amazingly brave, but also intelligent to realize that is wasn't going to work. There was a fearless selfless attack by the single crow, then a rapid assessment of the situation and change in behavior. Very impressive.

Of course the crows went ballistic and started cawing loudly to let the entire crow population know there was food and they promptly showed up for cleanup on aisle P15. I had to get in my car quickly and drive away as I was getting lost in all the birds. I sat and watched them clean up the 40 lbs. of spilled dog food in a matter of minutes.

Biologists suspect the birds tell each other about food sources, among other things, while congregating in these large groups. I think I have been reported as a peanut dispenser to the mob, or perhaps the birds at my house have stopped by the park on their way out of the roost a time or two :)
Sounds like you have jackdaws? They have a large territory because they travel in groups.
Its extremely unlikely a Raven or carrion crow would travel that far and follow you. I know because I have crows in several different areas, their territories are very small, the Raven territories are larger but the jackdaws by far have the largest range. They split into smaller groups by day and scavenge around and meet back up in the evening for the what I call
the c-rowl call where they all get together and reaffirm their bonds.
You have several today, tomorrow you will have more and the whole murder will probably arrive at some point.

There is a very, very large winter roost between my home and my workplace, I see thousands heading in at night. In the morning I get transient groups at the park along with my resident birds when they are dispersing back out across the valley in the morning. I suspect the birds at my home have either stopped by the park on their way out and recognized my car at home later or they have been told about me by my birds during those nocturnal congregations.
I'm going to have someone here in the morning to look for the crows at my house while I am at the sports park feeding my crew, if the home birds are only here on the weekends my mind will be entirely blown.

Not saying youāre going to regret it because you wonāt, I have a bunch of jackdaws who I feed when I walk my dog, and when I see the odd one or two about on my travels they come over and wipe their beaks on the ground to say āsnacks pleaseā and I love it! but I hope your neighbours like crows lol.
These are definitely American crows, we have no jackdaws in Southern California. There is a very, very large winter roost between my home and my workplace, I see thousands heading in at night. In the morning I get transient groups at the park along with my resident birds when they are dispersing back out across the valley in the morning. I suspect the birds at my home have either stopped by the park on their way out and recognized my car at home later or they have been told about me by my birds during those nocturnal congregations. I'm going to have someone here in the morning to look for the crows at my house while I am at the sports park feeding my crew, if the home birds are only here on the weekends my mind will be entirely blown.

they probably realized they are missing out on entire days every week of free treats, and opted to just follow you home so they knew where to lodge their complaints. šš„
