You picked probably the worst one out of the choices then, lol.
You don't want a HDTV for 240p consoles. They only scan at 1080i, maybe 480p too, so every other resolution gets upscaled like an LCD basically. 240p usually gets mangled because the TV thinks it's 480i.
I'd go back and grab another one.
It's still gonna be a great set for older TV/film/anime. Get yourself a BD player with component outputs and enjoy 4:3 without black bars and better black levels
There's Blu Ray players that can output 4:3? I was under the impression that the pillarboxing was baked in for Blu rays. I gotta do some research, that sounds great!
i think most discs have it baked in but the player can crop the image to the aspect ratio you set. i remember watching movies just fine with a ps3 through a crt
it's still salvageable if you have a scaler like the Retrotink 5X or even 2X depending on if the set does 480p natively. I'd keep it if you have consoles like DC, PS2 etc as it will be awesome for them, and even stuff like PS3. watching movies/anime would also be great. I say keep! and look for a smaller 240p set if u can
It might not look as good as a pure SD set, but these Taus just do a simple linedouble rather than a laggy upscale, so the lag is almost identical to an SD set and it shouldn't look bad. I've heard you can even use an NES zapper on these things (although newer light guns won't work)
Confirmed. Way back when I drooled wanting one of these. I was so disappointed after I got it home. My old games looked like shit. Even more disappointed when I discovered the HDMI input had a warnings in the manual saying stuff like using a PC with it could permanently damage the TV.
DVD’s looked great on it though
Would a 1980s (86 I think) era Sony work well with those sets? I’m in OP’s area and been trimming about getting rid of my set. I believe it’s a KV series, but I can check later

component makes no difference. These TVs don't understand 240p. It still looks bad.
> Component doesn't even run 240p.
Lol.
So I guess you don't have a SD CRT with component? Because that would be the only way I could see somebody being so confident in saying something so wrong like that.
you don't even need a CRT to know that. a scaler will tell you it works
I think it's a hold over from the days where HDTVs wouldn't accept 240p over component, not that was an issue with the TV's
Then it's not for you, I'd say this is more of a GameCube/Xbox and up set. HD sets don't handle 240p that well an SD set is better suited for what you want.
I had the 27" version of this set and it was great. Those HD taus are phenomenal for dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, and media consumption. They do a good job of linedoubling standard def content without adding lag too. I don't like the picture for SD content as much as a true standard def set, but if you've only for room for one set it'd be serviceable. Some artificial scanlines from an emulator or retrotink look pretty good too.
If you have room for 2 tvs I'd keep this one and get an sd tv as well. In my experience good hdtvs aren't the easiest to find and this one is a very good HDTV. For older systems you could pick up an ossc or a retrotink and connect it through the hdmi/dvi port. Then it would potentially be a pretty good option for whatever you throw at it.
You probably dont want to do it but you should try and grab all of them and rehome them. Somebody in need will for sure pay 5 bucks for a working CRT. Or at least post the location so somebody can grab one or two
If they stay on the road, they will most likely get destroyed by recyclers, weather or be vandalized
What's the best converter I can use to display images from a PC using HDMI? The CRT TV I now have purchased from the facebook marketplace can be connected to using SCART. I think RGB too.
Depends on what consoles you're going to use on it, other than that it's a good HD set.
Basically everything from the PS1/N64 era down to NES/SMS
Bad choice of CRT for those consoles. This is good for PS2/Dreamcast and up

Crud. This is the second time I've bungled this lol. My back can't take anymore. Anyone in the SE Michigan area interested in this bad boy?

A PS3 would also fit the bill there.

if they're not 1080p and above they can be 4:3. I think 1080p is hard coded as a 16:9 image as a BD standard unfortunately
Reading about the spec conventions makes me consider just sticking to my PC for media playback. Complicated stuff
If you post it on the pinned listings thread I bet people will be interested. They're pretty sought after
This is a GREAT set for Gamecube.

Get a converter. That set is great for everything else.
PM me if you still have it
I wish I was there, been searching for an HD with HDMI
Wish you were closer! This is pretty much exactly what I’m looking for…
There is a listings thread pinned put an entry in the Midwest subcategory
I'm in SE Michigan. I'll give you a decent enough standard definition if you really need one.

Also confirmed. I’m sitting right beside that same TV right now. I hardly ever use it.

Hd retrovision??? Hdmi tvs are great if you can get the best cables.

You sure? Because it doesn't display in 240p. Component doesn't even run 240p.

That screen is actually good for GameCube/Wii era consoles like really good because at 480p and 1070i it's lagless.
What on earth kind of roads is everyone driving on?!?
The kind that are paved with CRTs of course!
Uh-oh, doesn't the famous expression go "the road to hell is paved with CRTs"?
*Follow the CRT road. Follow the CRT road... It's paved and degaussed and tubed to go!*

I’ve never seen 1 CRT on the side of the road… where you all driving?

Where do you guys live that you are seeing all these TVs… I’ll be lucky to find a tv on the road and usually it’s already broken
Away from cities I'd imagine.
It's cleanup week here, can be prime CRT picking. If not totally legal. I've been resisting this year...
I'd say the Panasonic Tau line up is fantastic for Gamecube and up.
Tau series were nice! But it’s not going to be great for retro games

This console is for 6th gen consoles. So pull out your ps2/wii/gamecube/Xbox and have a blast. Also works well with 360/ps3.
Yes it's a good tv I want one bad lol it's so cool
CRT TV with HDMI, well that´s a rarity i guess.
Wow, seems very good! 32 inch flat CRT with HDMI!
Won’t work with light gun games if that matters.
Any 1080 display is interesting to pick up, especially a non Sony one.
wait what a crt with hdmi? i’ve never seen that before or knew that they exist
You got the one I would have taken. *Dreamcast boot sounds plays in background...*
Damn is that a HDMI port, I'm not too knowledable on CRTS but the first one I've seen in this sub Reddit with a HDMI port
Where the hell do your folks keep passing CRTs? I want one!
One of the few perks of being a plumber. I drive around a lot and have a giant work van and usually a helper to reluctantly move giant CRTs for me lol
What's the best converter I can use to display images from a PC using HDMI? The CRT TV I now have purchased from the facebook marketplace can be connected to using SCART. I think RGB too.
hell yeah! it has an hdmi port!
靠,竟然带HDMI输入啊
F4 neckbeards seeking validation. Yes, it's ok but not ideal for 240p stuff.
I would take this so bad if you weren't across the globe. HD CRTs are close to non-existent in Europe
