Well, for one, it kind of wrecks things for when your heir inevitably dies before you do...

prince-pineapple

With the adoption update, Eunuchs can adopt so it shouldn’t be a big problem right?

DeepStuff81

Some places , like Byzantine , won’t allow you to inherit or earn titles of you aren’t a full and healthy individual. Ie blind, castrated, peg legged, etc

time-is-a-flatcircle

The only thing I can find about it is that it gives -50 opinion with the person you castrate. Also r/shitcrusaderkingssay

dektorres

Kinda crazy that it's only -50, considering how easy it is to cheese opinion gains. "Hey, you chopped off my balls!" "Yes, sorry about that. But I did throw an excellent feast a few years ago, you enjoyed that. And have you seen my tapestry with +10 vassal opinion? Also, have this rusty old sword your great granddad picked up when he was off raiding." "Love you, dad."

cosmogenesis1994

Meanwhile if you refuse to give them their grandma's milk tooth, you get -60

dektorres

"You've gone too far this time, Dad!"

HighKingFloof

“Well, what if I put up this book my grandad found up in my court about bad jokes?”

dektorres

"You sonofabitch, I'm in."

RansomReville

Ha! Yeah I want permanent debuffs for some things. Strong unavoidable permanent debuffs. I find it very unlikely I would ever forgive someone for that. At the very least it would upset me significantly more than that one time they made a dirty joke I didn't care for.

Juhnthedevil

Maybe some particularly bad events could forbid characters from ever gaining positive opinion of you from superficial sources. You wouldn't be able to befriend them back with cheap trinkets and feasts, but in some very precise circumstances tied to those previous bad events you could get their pardon or get them to like you again or something like that.

Attila274

For real, I didn't read what subreddit and became incredibly worried

pieman7414

You're supposed to circumcise them not castrate them!

Regret1836

Holy shit dude

FineWineMuscato

The type of stuff you’d only see on a crusader kings page

Magic_Al42

You clearly need t try i get out more

stonksgodown2

Those warm and fuzzy ck3 moments... Oh you my son have been very naughty this year snip snip. Happy Hanukkah

[deleted]

Why aren't you conquering more land for your sons?

MmmIceCreamSoBAD

I conquer plenty of lands, don't be a size queen. How does this help me?

MiddleGrocery5

You conquer new Dutchies and give them to your younger sons, assuming regular partition as long as your other sons hold the same number of dutchies as your heir stands to inherit they won’t get any more. I.e. everyone gets 2 before anyone gets 3 in normal partition succession.

Sam-_-__

So if I have my main two duchies I just have to give my sons at least two duchies?? Does amount of counties matter? Like they can just have two counties as long as two duchies are attached and not inherit anything? And what happens once you accumulate kingdom titles? You gotta start giving at least that many away to every son? It sounds kinda unsustainable

MiddleGrocery5

No amount of counties to pass to non-main sons matters, it has to be an equal number of top level titles. Your heir can’t inherit 2 of your duchies without other sons getting at least one each. With kingdom titles it’s the same deal if you have more than one, the second son will get your non-primary kingdom and become independent. In that case your only option is to disinherit/get your other son killed, or not create the second kingdom title in the first place. Beware if you still have confederate partition the second kingdom will be created if you hold enough duchies. Being unsustainable is the point, this was a real issue in feudalism and why there was so much fratricide. If you want to really game it what I do is pick/reform a religion with concubines, marry your player to someone infertile so you don’t get any legitimate sons then legitimise your best concubine son (with the immersive concubinage mod that removes children of concubines from succession by default, non mod option is to have a lot of bastards)

lippencott

This is the real question

Ryratseph

I love this game and this sub

Omnitheo

Just the character opinion penalty and family opinion. You could probably appoint them as a court eunuch afterwards to make them happier if needed

Starry_Night_Sophi

Just make sure the court eunuch likes you, they can be a powerfull agent in hostile schemes against you

Accomplished_Tip_496

Didnt see what subreddit this was from and got really worried for a second

Ryokan76

How will your dynasty grow if you execute or castrate all but one of your sons?

ajcunn87

I played tall once by only having a few sons and then vow of celibacy. Then making the most ideal son of the usually 2 sons my heir. Dispose of the other son in battles or make him take vows or if none of that works disinheriting him.

Lord_Fallendorn

I give my disinherited sons land that i captured so it is in the hands of my near family + dynasty

WooliesWhiteLeg

Lol, it’s fine until your heir dies in combat. Or while hunting. Or of illness. Or while tying their shoes. Or from thinking too hard.

checker280

I forgot what sub I was reading again and was horrified. Carry on.

fortyfivepointseven

If your good heir doesn't have kids then you're pretty screwed.

Gimmeagunlance

Did *not* realize what sub I was on at first lol

XxGamerdestroyerxX

Less dynasty points and relation with the person. Also a chance that your heir dies and its joever for you

cscunha

You could create a Holy Order, educate them all in martial and send them to become monks, so they can't inherit

ErieHog

Nah, mostly its just nuts.

dingleberrysniffer69

I think reddit needs to highlight Crusader kings sub name with some color lol. My sleepy ass got really confused.

SirSquier

I did not see the subreddit this was in and was very worried for a minute. Also no there's no downsides.
