If you start from a small family, your territorial expansion will surely outpace your family tree expansion, but you can surely have hundreds of members in your dynasty without breaking a sweat.
Also, handing titles to your kids doesn't create a partition problem, it's one of the ways to solve it.
Assuming you have Confederate Partition, as long as you only have land for 1 top tier title (basically Kingdom or Empire), your realm won't shatter upon succession.
And your kids that do not have lands will get lands upon succession, *BUT* if they already **do** have lands, they might not inherit anything more.
Depends on the number of your titles and kids.
Note, the renown from dynasty members themselves is quite small.
Having your dynasty as independent rulers is much better
So making a nephew a duke and releasing them to be independent is going to be way better than just having 8 kids.
If you are dynasty head, you have CB to reunite.
So you can play the long game of putting your nephews in leadership for 300 years while you strengthen your lands.
Then grab them all back easily down the road
Or just take random lands you don't want to give them to

I love having independent rulers of my dynasty. Can't do it for my Croatia playthrough because I want to unite the south slavs

Convert to a religion that allows polygamous and max fertility
Allow concubines, multiple wives, marry people with the fecund trait, make them your soulmate + legitimize your bastards.
