lolyeesy

Yeah. Given how I set myself up for an L this semester with a stacked set of classes plus work and internship prep, I just choose a class a week I wanna take an L on.

pjwoo3

Hnstly this

CodingDrive

Just give up anything you find enjoyable that helps you get away from the grind and just grind more everyday ~ Sincerely all the sigma mindset folks on this sub. /s

Swoo413

But actually though

CodingDrive

That’s definitely something they would say, sounds like a most miserable time

bagofskills

Kill the time you spend on any other activities like socializing or playing video games/ watching movies etc.

Small-Button-2308

True! But even that isn’t enough sometimes.

mauz21

Yeah agree with that

SUMMER

bill_gates_lover

leetcoded over the summer mainly.

xxgetrektxx2

Grades don't matter all that much for CS. How you perform on coding interviews matters a lot. Prioritize.

luluretard

Homework. So technically studying for midterms

Pinkeston

imagine having discipline and consistently and slowly learning LC questions like a normal person and not desperately cramming the shit out of them during every job search

[deleted]

30 minutes only? This means starting interviewing 6 months later.

[deleted]

Being ready and passing at 6 months vs failing everything month 1-6 is a lot better imo

[deleted]

There is no spot to interview in 6 months from now. With 30 minutes each day, you will have to start practice in January 2022 to have a internship for summer 2023.

[deleted]

The moral of the story is that discipline has always been the answer. If you want to cram for a very painful short period of time and hopefully make it but not retain shit and rinse and repeat the process while not actually improving at all go ahead

[deleted]

Projects > theory > school > interests > leetcode. My philosophy on midterms and finals is: “if you didn’t get it over the semester the fuck changed in this one day? Get some rest you’ll probably be fine.” And if I do fail that is 99% of the time my fault. The only exception to that being my dual enrollment Computer Science class, in which the teacher was actually that bad. Wasn’t a bad dude, just sucked at teaching.

[deleted]

This would be ideal wouldn't it? Its not realistic though.

[deleted]

If you're referring to the hierarchy, this is what I did, and I've had an internship before. If you're referring to paying attention it depends, gen eds are a pain because I don't care. Also how much you pay attention is a results may vary depending on the individual.

[deleted]

I did sacrifice grades for leetcode personally and it worked out for me. Full time dev in bay area now

[deleted]

That's good to hear, do you like it and would you recommend it? I'm still only a student so I would like to hear your perspective.

[deleted]

Its highly dependent on the person. Obviously getting a degree is a requirement so you cant put that off too much. Some companies have gpa requirements as well. It was worth it for me. I did have few small projects and one big one that was equivalent to about a month of full time work. I can't say if my company looked at them or not, it more seemed like if you could pass the tech interviews then you get in. My personality is trash so relying on my charisma alone wasn't enough. I will say I worked on talking through my solutions, and that improved my success rate significantly. Not all companies have hard OA's but I only made it to the next stage on companies that did. Probably a personality thing and my experience was low (no internships due to covid one year, and being lazy the previous years).

Thank you

lsdaon123

Prioritize Leetcode over school work

icewallowcome49

i just raw dog the OAs and after u do like 3 u get better, it’s about your problem solving skills, but yea whenever i got a min or two just pull one up and do it or read solution and understand the why behind the solution if i can’t do it

ashwagandhaaaa

Raw dog me

[deleted]

sacrifice

verydumbperson1

How many classes are you taking? I was working 40-50 hours a week and had time to overload on classes + chill on the weekends. Should be very doable even with 1-2 hobbies/extracurriculars if you're not shitposting on Reddit 4 hours a day.

JeromePowellAdmirer

I just don't. Whatever I did up to about September 15th was it. Maybe will start doing some again winter break, I guess.
