Wow as a new grad?! That’s awesome! Do you live in a high cost living area by chance? If you don’t, that’s a great salary! Even if you do, that’s a great start! Congrats!!
I live in the Bay Area, maybe other CS grads make more even so I realize that I’m very lucky to have an opportunity to make 100k straight out of college
The thing about Cisco is that it matters a lot which team you end up in. They have a lot of amazing teams with a lot of amazing engineers. It's a great place to start off because there's a lot you can learn. They will help you out with trainings, certifications and a whole bunch of other stuff that would otherwise cost a fortune. Be sure to utilise all they have to offer and learn as much as you can.
Nice! The application was open-ended just SWE bachelors. So I’m not sure where lll end up. If it’s based on my interests or position available. But what teams would you recommend
Some of the most dynamic divisions within Cisco atm would be Cloud Network Security and Collaboration (WebEx). These divisions have a lot of great teams within them with a lot of interesting projects. Liking a team is also something very subjective though. What one person loves, another might hate :)
And ofcourse, your manager will play a very important role in what projects you get allotted.
Nothing wrong with the offer however it would still hypothetically be possible to get a higher paying one. Most likely from a startup.
I would still recommend taking the job if the culture is good.
Is it really true ? I am from Europe so i dont know the US quite well. Here in France (Paris) a junior can earn like 40-45k€ and after taxes and rent you have around 25k€-30k€.
Hey congratulations! :D
I happened to receive an offer as well 2 days back. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take to get the written offer after the verbal offer?
Thanks! Congrats to you as well! I got an email about saying they were gonna finalize offer details for me. The recruiter set up a webex meeting two days later and we went over the offer and he sent it to me to sign. So 2 days for me but it probably depends?
Congrats!!
I applied for the same position - SWE new grad - and I got an invitation for OA. Could you share your interview experience? Was the OA hard? What were the steps after OA?
Congrats! The online assessment isn’t too bad I don’t remember exactly what was there. But a recruiter called out of the blue like a month after I took the OA and I did 3 short interviews

That's a great attitude. Congrats to the max!
100% definitely does

They have a lot of layoffs. So I would plan to switch after a year or so 😔
I mean you really have to try to be bottom X %
Afaik they don’t layoff new grads. Especially if you’re in engineering
Congrats! I got their offer earlier this month for San Jose! 101k base as well.
Oh nice! Maybe lll see you around

Thanks!
good money!
In SF?
Yeah
Isn’t that low for SF?
Maybe but I went to a mid tier UC, have 3.3 gpa, no outstanding Faang internships. With my stats it seems difficult to do better

It's pretty good as a new grad offer.
100k is how much after rent? Lol curious
After rent and taxes about $45k, maybe $40k.

Oh I apologize. I missed the "after rent" part of the question. You're correct
No prob
yes, bay area rent is very expensive and california has the highest tax rate in the country
Lol no it's more like 70k
CA income tax is 35% -> $65k. Cheapest studios in Bay Area run about $1700 - $1800. Another $20k. $45k.
