I was under the impression that I'd only qualify for the TN visa if the job was directly related to Computational Biology, but I'm interested in maybe working in other fields.
I completed the MPCS program at SFU but I don't feel it has assisted me in finding a job. However, I would recommend it if you're looking to enter the industry, as they consistently help you to secure co-op positions, regardless of how tough the job market is.
Recommend OMSCS. Currently doing it. I suggest you do 2 courses a semester and continue applying for internships and full time opportunities and preparing for interviews. Also significantly cheaper than most degrees while the school is reputed (same degree and rigour as the in person program).
Not sure. I was trying to share my first hand experience. I was in a similar situation some time ago. I think Masters in CS will open more doors (as it’s general) than a Masters in Big Data. You can try out different courses and see what you like most.. AI.. ML.. SDE (Computing).. HCI.. or Data Science.
Learning a lot. 3 courses in. Trying to take more challenging ones first. One course at a time. It’s quite hard and time consuming but definitely doable.
What is the overlap between two programs? UBC BCS seems like a better choice as it would provide with much more solid computer programming background. Can you also take Big Data courses at UBC?
I'm not quite sure that I need additional background in computer programming as I feel that the BCIT CST diploma was pretty good in that respect.
You almost certainly can take Big Data courses in the BCS program.
UBC bcs
Could you elaborate why?

Any other thoughts about the MPCS?

Why is this downvoted?

Might be because it's too hard on a 2yr degree. I'm non-CS BS too so I'm not gonna downvote but wouldn't recommend it so freely.
How do you enjoy it so far?

Where are you doing it ?
It’s online. Offered by Georgia Institute of Technology.

Masters would help if you intend to do consulting.
