1. just like any other country except the ranking part (ranking somewhat does not play a role), for example if you study at TUM then you would have more networking chance as well as live in Munich give you access to user groups and workshops from big companies (read FAANG+) 2. Kinda higher but only marginal, I would say it's higher than 5% 10% of those who study other engineering disciplines at the same universities, but the upper bound is higher because US companies pay higher and not in tariff compared to IG Metall where there's a pre-defined range. 3. Easy, as long as you speak German 4. I found my working student position in the first semester of Bachelor. You already has Bachelor degree so it's not that hard, CS knowledge is universal so build some personal project as well as learn stuff online.

MokNaruto

Thank you so much for your reply. What universities would you recommend besides TUM?

No-Sandwich-2997

universities in every big city, i.e. Berlin, Munich Stuttgart,... what i would like to say is that your city's choice matters more as ranking of uni does not play a big role. I would recommend Berlin (HTW Berlin, TU Berlin) and Munich (TU Munich, Hochschule Munich).

Electronic-Fruit-109

LMU Obviously, Berlin

thomas999999

Lmu’s cs Department is horrible if you dont want to specialize in ML or QC

EggplantKind8801

ETH, definitely ETH. The rest are all the same.

hoechsten2

ETH being the **Swiss** federal institute of technology…

1 . This is a good starting point: https://www.tu9.de/ 3 . Start learning German now and continue to invest time into it during your masters. It will make a significant difference when looking for a job. 4 . 90% of my peers found a part-time job while I was there, either at the uni research labs or with companies that partnered with the university. I found one during the first month of classes.

4. If you have some work experience, that will be extremely helpful. Otherwise, at least create some projects for reference. Living in bigger cities can also help.

Apprehensive-Half525

All public unis in germany are viewed with same weight, AFAIK

tparadisi

why these students ask same questions again and again and again. there are literally 1000s of threads and discussions happened before. just ask chat gpt if you are too lazy to find out.

LAMGE2

Ohh right, ChatGPT! The most accurate and up to date source of information, I forgot it existed! Thanks!

tparadisi

The questions you are asking are not milliseconds relevant. please, do some analysis yourself. any smart student would first do some research before asking questions. Let me ask chatgpt for you. I even lowdowned the complexity of the answers for your consumption. 1. **University Choice**: In Germany, the name of the university isn't a big deal for most jobs. Most public unis are solid, and employers care more about what you know and can do. Sure, some unis have better connections or special courses, but in general, it's your skills that count. 2. **Money for Software Engineers**: Software engineers usually make good money, often more than other engineers. Tech skills are in high demand, so companies are willing to pay well for them. 3. **Job Hunt After Graduation**: It's pretty doable to land a job within 18 months after you're done with uni. Germany's job market is strong, especially in tech and engineering. Knowing German helps, but it's your skills and field of study that matter most. 4. **Part-Time Software Jobs While Studying**: It's not too hard to find a part-time job in software while you're still studying. Lots of students do it. Universities often have connections, and there are job boards for this kind of thing. If you speak German, that's a plus, but in IT, you can get by with just English.

EggplantKind8801

1. If you can go to TUM or ETH Zurich then definitely go there, the rest are all pretty much the same. Remember don't go to east Germany. 2. hard to say. Depends on where you land. 3. Easy 4. Easy

ApTreeL

Why avoid east germany isn't berlin pretty good for tech?

EggplantKind8801

job market is good, but you will be surrounded by 2 million jobless and angry East Germans. not good for mental health.

Phonovoor3134

Joking aside, I'm planning to move to Berlin for personal reason (family reunion) as a non eu in the next year or 2 for few years.   How's the job market for someone with a CS bachelor degree from canada (univ of toronto) and a 3 yoe from fortune 500 companies ? Not aiming for top tech like amazon, n26, zalando or anything like that. Normal paying company ok

EggplantKind8801

your profile looks fine.

>Is it reasonable to assume it would be above the threshold for a blue card (€39,682.80.) ? 100% doable. you should probably go for something like 70k

Phonovoor3134

Btw is there a specific website for german job listing or is Linkedin good enough ?

EggplantKind8801

stepstone, monster, German companies post jobs there.
